I Say, I Say, I Say was truly a masterpiece. I could almost see it as a complete soundtrack, or many tracks that could've easily been chosen as an epic Fantasy series or movie. This song would be depiction of either a betrayal, or a loss to death of a betrothed in one of those, I could imagine. It is one of those songs that truly hits in the feels. My favourite lines - "Can you see this predilection rushing through my head, was a morning of circumstance, I was seeing red", and "walked into a ring of fire, heart in a wall flame". I seriously could write a short story based on this song alone.
Their apex, perhaps. Still some great work, especially their "Erasure" album, but they nailed *everything* with this offering. The songs, arrangements, production, lyrics, lead vocals, backing harmonies, even the artwork. Overall it's a truly magnificent piece of work.
When I was around 18 I got this CD. My best friend and I went to another friend sof hours (2 sisters) house. Their apartment was amazing! The sealing was super high and had flowers hanging, magical. And we started to drink whine and play the CD. I mean it was the perfect scenario for the music. We were dancing and all of the sudden making out.! WOW!
