Being prepared to die doesnt necessarily mean you have to. That said his weakest point in the series is absolutely when he slaps the syringe away when Levi chooses him. He definitely wanted to die there but I don't believe he would allow it to prevent him from utilizing the colossal titan if the responsibility was cast onto him anyway.

I don't know where the idea came from that Erwin's only motivation was to find out the secret of the walls. He wasn't called humanity's hope for nothing. He went outside the walls to figure out how to fight them to set humanity free. Erwin craves freedom just as much as Eren.
Put it simply, Rumbling happen SOONER, Erwin didn't hesitate to turn Historia into Titan, and Eren - Historia combined activate the Rumbling to destroy Marley, Zeke wasn't need to be involved. Eren hatred towards non-Eldian humans grow stronger due to he lose his best friend, so he also didn't hesitate to do everyting to avenge Armin's death.
Levi already said, as long as Erwin could attain the secret beyond Paradis, it doesn't matter what would happen to humantiy after that. Unlike Armin, he has visions for the humanity
What would be interesting is, given the massive plot significances of Erwin, Armin, and Erwin’s death, that Isayama made a “what if” alternate season 3 and 4 to the series with Erwin still alive, and Armin dead.

Ya know, I struggle to understand why Bertholdt didn't go for the interior. He could've easily destroyed Wall Sina with the help of Annie and Reiner if they all became MP's. The Survey Corps weren't usually that deep in the walls, and the MP's didn't usually use ODM gear. Which leaves the Garrison. They'd be the only real threats to the 3 of them. That being said, with one transformation, the colossal could've wiped out whatever building was housing the current "ruler" of the walls at the time, while killing said "ruler" in the process. Although this would make it hard to escape, I'm not sure that Annie, Reiner, and Bertholdt would have that much trouble. Just get the colossal to transform, destroying a town, and then have Annie run in titan form until just before the next town, in which they'd walk into the town, take some horses, and be on with the operation, occasionally stopping every now and then at a hotel or something to stay the night
Had that happened, the squad would've lost a titan and an Ackerman. There's no way Eren would've stayed without Armin, and there's no way Mikasa is staying without Eren. Without them, the story falls apart.
Erwin wouldn't let an angsty teenager run around making decisions for Paradis. One character assassination that happened in the series is Pixis which they shown as a wise commander but he was nowhere while eren is wreaking havoc and declaring war on all nations.
Eren would hate Erwin for a bit but after they find out about the outside world they would become allies. Erwin was very patriotic and would definitely side with Eren to protect the Eldians against the alliance

If Erwin weren't dead, Eren wouldn't have done the Rumbling. Well, maybe he still would have, but with Erwin's plan and his friends helping him no matter what, and Levi would've helped too because he would've listened to Erwin.

If annie was still around during season 2, they'll most likely succeed in getting eren as annie is shown to be the one that is keen to finishing their mission. If erwin also didn't charge at Beast titan, they'll just end up dead and Zeke could have advanced to meet with Bertholdt in the walls which will make Armin's plan useless.

Interesting point about the tension between Erwin/Levi and Eren 🤔 I feel like in that scenario, Eren would've gone rogue later on (much like in the original series) but this time his cold demeanor would make a lot more sense, he'd be more smart, calculated and actually even train to be a better fighter and avenge Armin. Not to mention, then his deception of Zeke and will to destroy the world would fall in place much better too.

I don't know where the idea came from that Erwin's only motivation was to find out the secret of the walls. He wasn't called humanity's hope for nothing. He went outside the walls to figure out how to fight them to set humanity free. Erwin craves freedom just as much as Eren.

Ya know, I struggle to understand why Bertholdt didn't go for the interior. He could've easily destroyed Wall Sina with the help of Annie and Reiner if they all became MP's. The Survey Corps weren't usually that deep in the walls, and the MP's didn't usually use ODM gear. Which leaves the Garrison. They'd be the only real threats to the 3 of them. That being said, with one transformation, the colossal could've wiped out whatever building was housing the current "ruler" of the walls at the time, while killing said "ruler" in the process. Although this would make it hard to escape, I'm not sure that Annie, Reiner, and Bertholdt would have that much trouble. Just get the colossal to transform, destroying a town, and then have Annie run in titan form until just before the next town, in which they'd walk into the town, take some horses, and be on with the operation, occasionally stopping every now and then at a hotel or something to stay the night

in my headcannon i always thought erwin would have been miserable, he wouldnt have any goals in life any more, and im not sure if he could handle all of the pressure and have the will to go on, like levi said.
Arwin was the most promising character going into S4 but after watching S4 and the let down armin was, Erwin deserved the colossal titan

If Erwin weren't dead, Eren wouldn't have done the Rumbling. Well, maybe he still would have, but with Erwin's plan and his friends helping him no matter what, and Levi would've helped too because he would've listened to Erwin.

If he didn't trapped annie inside the walls, they would just be back to square one. Annie would likely be more careful next time and they would never eliminate one of the 3 shifters in their ranks. If annie was still around during season 2, they'll most likely succeed in getting eren as annie is shown to be the one that is keen to finishing their mission.
If erwin also didn't charge at Beast titan, they'll just end up dead and Zeke could have advanced to meet with Bertholdt in the walls which will make Armin's plan useless.

I feel like in that scenario, Eren would've gone rogue later on (much like in the original series) but this time his cold demeanor would make a lot more sense, he'd be more smart, calculated and actually even train to be a better fighter and avenge Armin.

i don’t think erwin would’ve approved of the rumbling. his goal was to save humans, not kill. sure he ended up doing the second one but with the councilors he always tried talking first. i think he would’ve tried talking with marley first before using violence.
No. Erwin specifically asked Eren who he thought the enemies were after the titan shifter incident with Annie. After discovering Marley was behind it there would be little to no talking and lots of stomping and screaming.
