This! This is why I warmed up to River so fast. She had chemistry with Ten, Eleven, and Twelve!!!! Clara was just an eye candy to the Doctor. She can't hold a candle next to River's oozing chemistry with all 3 incarnations.
As soon as you hear "Hello Sweetie", you know the episode is going to be incredible.

I know this is about The Doctor and River, but the scene with Donna and her husband is so heartbreaking

I genuinely cried when Donna was walking away and when he couldn’t get a hold of her 😢
Despite being one of the Doctor's most fun and lighthearted companions, Donna also suffered some of the greatest losses.
Her entire experience/memories with The Doctor was taken from her.
The whole two-parter is one of my favourite Doctor Who stories. Every element just works incredibly well imo, the sad moments are absolutely heartbreaking, no matter how many time I watch it.
@@quantummidget It's one of my absolute favourites too, and I've rewatched it tons of times! It usually doesn't make the lists of the top episodes and I don't know why ... I agree with all you wrote. It's just amazing. And the acting of all of them -- The Doctor, River, Donna, is EXCELLENT -- especially amazing given that David Tennant and Alex K. didn't even know the entire story, but they acted their emotions so so brilliantly. And I really agree with the original comment by @Julian Riviera -- I feel like this gets overlooked, the fact that Donna had a whole huge love story and family and bam! it gets taken from her. Heartbreaking. It's so brutal when he was trying to say her name but stuttering, and he wasn't able to say her name before he beams away .... yes, this two-parter episode was and is AMAZING! I'm glad to see I'm not alone in feeling this!
I wish we could get more 10 and River audio dramas. They’re so adorable each time they meet after the library. 🥺 She’s brilliant with each regeneration.

@@spc1612 Yes! Definitely get the “Tenth Doctor and River Song” audio drama. It’s just beautiful. And it bridges the gap between the library and Crash of the Byzantium. 11 was already so use to River in that ep. He gets jealous of River possibly being engaged to Father Octavian. He knows the message left in the museum is from River and he already knows what she wants him to do. He’s not surprised she can fly the Tardis. Or that she’s a time traveller. There are gaps in their relationship that we don’t to get to see. But the audio dramas fill in some of the holes. The beginning of burgeoning relationship starts in the “Tenth Doctor and River Song” drama. And Alex and David just have insane chemistry!

The fact that 12 immediately grabbed into River to protect her from falling less than an hour after saying he doesn't like holding hands just shows how much he loves River and having her near him 😭
That soft and warm and gentle "Hello Sweetie" combined with the look on Kingston's face gets me every time.
Am i the only one who’s always been really sad about Donna not getting to marry this guy? I mean, he was actually real and they actually loved each other, and then she gets out of the library like nothing happened 😂

Yes, I've always found this incredibly sad too.
I find it soul crushing, after the mind wipe only the guy knows about the relationship and love they had.

I remember the scene where River is to die. She got me all looking forward to her future stories with the Doctor. That is some really badass acting.
The quality in these clips feels *SO* much higher than what we've been given for the past 5yrs. Feels like a genuinely different show. Hope we can return to this sort of wit in the writing! :)
The middle scene in this video, in which River realizes who the person standing next to her is, is my favorite scene of all of new Who. There are certainly better episodes, including many with Capaldi, but this is the perfect combination of comedy (from the audience's point of view) and pathos. I miss River and Captain Jack, my two favorite characters in all of new Who, so much that my most recent cats have been named River Song and Jack Harkness.
I had the honor of meeting John Barrowman about 4 years ago when he had a garage sale. I was able to rummage through his garage and turnaround area of his driveway with about 75 - 100 other people going through his old cloths and stuff he was selling. I literally ran into his husband Scott and almost got knocked over. Boy is Scott tall and handsome too! And quite the British accent, well I think it's British.
Which is why somehow, sometime, someway, River Song must find a way to return to the Doctor in a moment of absolute need. Of all the actors on the show, Alex Kingston is simply not replaceable.
I know it's a River Song video... But, it's been years and I'm still not over that poor guy losing Donna over a stammer.😢
We have nothing to praise or call Shaun Temple stammer. Though that guy in the Library was perfect.

@@scantopup2226 she definitely could still return. There are loads of pages in the diary we haven’t seen/heard river say, so they could be adventures with the 14th Doctor?
@@Gatetraveller1 don't think so, before the library she show us all the pictures she had of the doctor to 11th ... the only way we could see River again is from the data of the library where she is .
@@pokatek she didn’t have Capaldi’s photo though. They could find a way around it if they really wanted to I guess
@@Gatetraveller1 not really the reason she didn't have a photo of Capaldi is that she didn't know the doctor regenerated for a 13th time and since that was their last encounter before the library that means future doctor won't be able to run into her
After watching the series in its entirety... Just to come back to her final moments just broke my heart when she said "don't you dare change a single line". I gotta stop watching these as its just breaking my heart so much.

Ok, why did I just now realize that 11 used the same trick River did to get rid of all the weeping angels? Even the way “find something to hang onto” and “get a grip” mirror each other. The only difference is that River uses it as a means of escape while The Doctor uses it to defeat his enemy

The best storyline of them all.
You can really tell that for River, THoRS is right after 'The Angels take manhattan' (where she was noticeably fed up with the Doctor's immaturity) whereas for him it's been a pretty long time, he's been lectured by Ashildr on avoiding endings etc. and when he hears River's speech he realizes how much his avoidance & communication fail has really hurt her feelings - fortunately he got a chance to put it right before the end. Capaldi does a good job at the subtle 'oh shit' expressions, too.

Another thing is, if she'd let the Doctor kick the bucket before he can crashland in Amy's garden, she would never have got kidnapped & have lived a regular life as a normal human. Although you might wonder how much this alternate version of her would still be the same person. So you could reasonably interpret this either as an even bigger sacrifice than it already is, or as her being more or less doomed to die here because else she wouldn't exist. One wonders if it crossed her mind.

SOOOOO disappointed, esp after seeing that video where Alex learns it was Jodie while at a con. She was clearly excited to potentially work with her, but…maybe we’ll get an audio down the line? She’s worked with earlier Doctors in audios.
I wish so hard that RTD made her return to the show, River and the Doctor NEED TO BE WITH EACH OTHER FOR ALL THE ETERNITY or at least for some more time (because lovingly renembering someone =\= actually being with them)
I just love their relationship so much, they are so adoring, caring, and just harmonious
(I love DoctoRose sm too! But she is with the metacrisis Doctor, they need each other, although for me personally it was a really questionable decision to "gift" him to her, as if she won't think about the real Doctor + tear around all the time + be at constant conflict with herself and all that. I know it's much deeper than that but yeah)
