The game is about someone feeling like they're caught in an endless boring loop of life. That's why so much of the color scheme is shades of gray: reflecting the loss of feeling and life that so many people experience as adults. Some things in the game are going to reinforce that theme... Such as cars being locked in a loop that gets them nowhere.
