@@DerekLieu Ahh. Cool. I get a bit confused with the aspect ratio for Tiktok. I don't even think my video editing software has a setting for it 😅. I've watched tons of interviews with you on RUclips and the GDC talks haha. If I could hire you I would! Glad to see you're still going strong. I've seen tons of people quit various things since starting Dev life over the last few years. From YT to game dev & reviewers. All sorts of things really. Keep it up!

These videos have been great! I am working on my first video game trailer and these lessons and tips have been very helpful. Is there any fighting game trailers you recommend?
Glad you like the videos! I haven't given fighting games much attention because by design they're very visual and easy to understand, so they don't really have to solve the problems a lot of other game trailers do. I think even when they have a new mechanic they don't really have to spend a lot of time explaining it (if any). As long as the editing is well executed with a nice mix of gameplay they don't have to do much more. The worst I've ever seen is just bad dialogue editing where there are cinematic moments but no coherence to the trailer's story. That said, I quite liked this Samurai Showdown trailer ruclips.net/video/1mXTzNQVyc0/видео.html If you want to extend it to single screen multiplayer games (which are VERY tough to make trailers for) I recommend the Towerfall trailers by my friend Kert Gartner.
Thanks for the video Derek! As a beginner in this topic, the tips and tricks that you shared are quite useful. Do you have any recommendation for free tools and tutorials where to start with? Thanks!
Da Vinci Resolve is a GREAT free editing app. But I’d you’re going with Premiere, this is a great beginner’s guide ruclips.net/video/8eDsvKwM40U/видео.html
@@DerekLieu just what to thank you once again! DaVinci Resolve is an awesome free tool! And also has really great community (I found tutorials for all the things I wanted to achieve). Should you have couple of minutes free, check out the trailer that I created for the game I'm developing (it will be available soon) Btw I'm really open for feedback :) Thus, if you have any comments, recommendations, critics, I would really appreciate your feedback! Thank you once again! ruclips.net/video/zrGRB_9Py-0/видео.html
Thanks! I use Premiere Pro, but use whatever you feel comfortable with. It's only important to use specific software when you're working at an office where you have to use what they use or collaborating with people you need to share files with.

Another great example of Game Trailer Structure #4 is the trailer for Islanders.

What music did you use in the background of this video, it is really good
There are two free music tracks used from RUclips's music library:
"Grut" by Patrick Patrikios
"Jindupe" by Lauren Duski

For some reasons trailers with gameplay and no hud make me uncomfortable to watch lol
Haha this is the first I’ve heard of this reaction
derek , i recently saw a game video trailer. It was more like a movie trailer stuff i guess. Could you try to explain it The game is darkarta
What are the questions you have about the trailer?
How do you call this type of transition effect at 1:28 and 1:34?
This isn't really a special effect of any sort, it's just in the motion graphic, the camera suddenly tracks in while simultaneously cross fading out.
What about a character trailer.
What is your question? Are you asking if a character trailer is a type of trailer? Are you asking if it’s a viable trailer? How to make a character trailer?
@@DerekLieu I'm asking how to make a character trailer.
Is Canva a good tool to use when making game trailers?
I've never used it before but it looks fairly limited. If you're looking for something free, check out Davinci Resolve.
