Ahahahaha - welcome to my life - the never ending quest for the perfect bag!! 😂 What bag have you found so far that comes closest to perfection for you?
@@TheMountainborn right now my combo is an aer city pack pro for my work laptop and steam deck etc + aer day sling max 3 for my journal, mini game boy, keys and sometimes camera. I keep watching your review of the metromonger because it looks like it could fit everything I carry now plus my camera much more comfortably. I’ve tried so many others, chrome kadet & max, wexley sling, hex ranger sling, alpaka bravo sling v2 none of them hit the same
Man this bag looks clean. Way sexier than my Chio X, but that flap opening looks like it would drive me up the wall; especially if I'm trying to open it and rummage around with the bag on.
The key pocket in the folding area does seem like a miss. But flexible volume would be very handy in something this size, and I like the way Modern Dayfarer does it.
Most definitely - am always a big fan of Modern Dayfarer! (though I remember I found the side zipper pocket on their Dayfarer backpack a bit lacking as well 😂 I think it might be something about the combination of side pockets and the way they have soft sidewalls to accommodate the changing volumes that doesn't interact as well as maybe it should ?)
Great video. This sling is very close to what I'm looking for. I have a 13" Macbook and a camera setup that's quite similar to what you showed here. Do you think you can fit both the 13" Macbook and the camera (+lens) in the main compartment together? Maybe with the camera being vertically placed (lens down)? Thanks.
Is that a 13" MacBook Pro or a MacBook Air? (The air is notably thinner and lighter so I would recommend that if possible) Regarding your overall question, I think it depends a lot on the specific camera and lens combo. Assuming you're carrying a 13" MacBook in the main compartment, then: * Virtually all 1" sensor (Sony Rx100 series) and integrated APS-C type cameras (Fuji X100 VI/Leica D-Lux 8 etc) will fit. * I would say many M43 setups will fit (except for the larger DLSR-style bodies) though you may need to take off the lens and carry it separately depending on the body. * Integrated lens FF cameras (Leica Q3 or Sony RX1) I found were usually too thick in any orientation to work well when you have a laptop in here * Once you get into detachable style APS-C and FF bodies, I think in virtually all cases you'll need to detach the lens from the body to make it fit well - you'd need to turn the body "sideways" (so it's laying "flat" with its thinnest dimension on the z-axis of the Dayfarer sling) and then put the lens next to it (obviously with caps on both the body and the lens). I this way I would say you could probably carry most smaller APS-C/FF setups out there (so excepting gripped-style pro bodies and chonkier lenses, so 70-200s and 85 1.4s etc are out of the picture - think something like a Sony A6700 + a reasonable small normal zoom or small reasonable aperture prime) It will start to get heavy if you're carrying both a camera + lens + laptop in this sling - it will likely be uncomfortable with the stock strap so you may need to swap that out if you're planning to travel long distances with this kind of setup. I hope this helps! If you let me know the specific lens/camera and laptop (Air vs. pro) you were thinking if I own it I can try it out and see.
@@TheMountainborn thanks for the detailed reply! It was very helpful. I have a Sony ZV-E10 (APS-C) with a SmallRig cage and a 28-200mm lens. And I usually like to keep the lens attached to the body when carrying it in a bag. So I decided to go for a Timbuk2 Messenger Bag (size small) with a camera insert. Given my setup, I thought that'd be safest option. The Dayfarer looks so good though! If they make a touch bigger version then that'd be very exciting. Thanks again!
The messenger with the camera insert definitely sounds like the right move, especially with the cage and if you like to keep the lens attached. Plus it gives you a bit more room to expand/add accessories etc as needed. Happy shooting!!
Im going to keep watching until I find my perfect bag and then continue watching long after!

very meticulous review. very helpful. thank you
My pleasure! I'm glad it was useful for you!!
listening to your breathing , i can feel your frustration on side key pocket 😂
😂 hahaha ohh snap I probably should go tone that audio down in post so y’all don’t need to listen to my frustrated panting hahahah

the key pocket seems to be european-centric, for people who don’t own a car and only need a few keys for their apartment and maybe the office 😅
Also, nice Apple Watch Ultra 2 :)
Haha you noticed!!! 😂
