- Hall & Oates - Dance on Your Knees / Out of Touch (Live)
The Liberty Concert July 4 1985
Liberty State Park, New Jersey
Just prior to Live Aid, on July 4, 1985, Hall & Oates performed at Liberty State Park in Jersey City, New Jersey as part of the Liberty Concert, where they played an outdoor benefit concert for the restoration of the Statue of Liberty. It became a major music event drawing an estimated crowd of over 60,000 people.
imagine your in 1985 and standing in crowd and listening to that music ....music from future
The 80's were so wonderful. Hall and Oates on the radio and Ronald Reagan in the White House. Wish we could get back to that.
Ha, T-Bone. Sliding, popping, noodling, diving and driving. THE articulate bass player to define a band's energy. RIP mate. Too few have the playing conviction and musically forthright conversation you have had on your instrument. See also Did It In A Minute. Great bass lines T-Bone! Luv ya work.
OMG I was at this show. Gary US Bonds opened, then Til' Tuesday and then H&O. Was about 95 degrees with no clouds. Worse thing I remembered was it took 5 hours to get out of the parking lot of Liberty State Park. People were selling 2 liter bottles of warm pepsi and coke for 10 buck a bottle and getting it ! Cold bottles were 15 buck !
I saw hall &oats at the Borgata on Saturday. They were even better then they were in the 8o's ... there band is awesome. We will miss you T-Bone!!!! They have not aged at all. i want some of what they are drinking!!!
GE Smith was so awesome at this concert. They all were. What a great band, great concert, I'll never get it out of my head and I'm thrilled to find clips here.
Hall and Oates were on top back then. I got turned on to them back in '76 though.
The good old days 😊👍
Only Hall & Oates can take an over-produced song and still do it great live.
Big, Bam.Boom album : bought it on tape, vinyl...and then CD...
The opening drums are just groovilicious... Mickey Curry fabulous drummer
and the bass rip T-bone...later the great guitar solo with G.E Smith.....and of course Daryl and John!
Darryl looks like a lion here. Weird! Such an amazing singer, one of the best.
I was there that day. Was VERY hot, but a great weekend.
No, not crazy times, wonderful times.
top of the world baby, top of the world....80s forever
man this is a great song. they actually wrote this song and offered it to tha stlylistics . but tha stylistics producer said u sing it, u have a hit. As an artist, u have to appreciate music like this no matter what kind of music u do.
I was at that show. It was so hot and me and a friend had a blanket down sunbathing. What a great show and yea the parking lot was a pain to get out of. I met who I always felt was a missed chance at love at first sight...i was stupid and didnt give him my phone number.
Ha, I love the way Daryl gets out of the chopper and keeps ducking his head as if he's worried about the propellers - bless him! That's what you get for being so tall I guess. Love these guys, they're just brilliant, so underrated in the UK and Daryl was so damn HOT - no one else could get away with those pants! Thanks for posting!
Great stage presence. Music of the 80's we miss you!!!
Yep!!! When this was shot..they were at the top of the charts...it's a great performance.
On the eve of the 18th anniversary of 9/11 I watched this video again to see those buildings which was always the landscape of NYC.
I miss the 80s. I saw the Big Bam Tour and they were awesome! Great stuff!! Today's music just doesn't compare to the stuff from the 70s/80s.
Sorry to hear their long-associated bassist, T-Bone Wolk, just died.
RIP.
Man the 80's looks so full of life, wish I was there but sadly I was born in the 90's
Tito love yours
This was the best show! I will never forget it.
when in high school i remember this song in 84, was amazing!!! every week hits that still play today in clubs, radio...no need to reincarnate and go back in time
this is incredible, never never think how i have this music on my skin, i grow up listening all my life since i have 13 years old, now i have 53 and listening to this incredible live version make me take some tears of joy to me, i´m very excited really, never have the opportunity to see any of my loved groups, duran duran, tears for fears, so... seeing this is the more nearly to see this in my young ages. thank you, really thank you very much you make my day. saludos desde México
Daryl's hair was never better!! A year or so before this is was into that Elvis look with the dress shows and the swing-daddy slacks with the funny 50's vests ...then here is was adapting to the 80's fashion for sure.
God, I love this shit. Daryl, John, T-Bone, and that G.E. are all smooooth!! Looks like one helluva concert, the energy just reaches out and touches you.... especially after all these years. They were and still are great, thanks for posting this for us all to share.
robinthais Don’t forget Mickey and Charlie
Last stop for the Big Bam Boom tour. ;(
These guys NEVER disappoint!!!
This needs to come out on DVD at some point. I used to have it on LaserDisc when I was a kid!
@DarylHall& JohnOates1984
me too love it!!
very love
Nothing like some good ole Hall & Oates.
Funny to think that this was the summer when reruns of Miami Vice shot that show to the top.
Somebody give us a time capsule - just for two days. Is that too much to ask, dammit?
80s, ROCK MUSIC, NYC SKYLINE in background! It cant get any better... wish I was there!
Man, I would like to see these guys
perform just one more time. Got all their CDs but never seen them live !!
This sure is a great performance !!
THey really did rock !!!!!!
The lead guitarist is G.E Smith - you probably remember him from Saturday Night Live (SNL)
Great video ! My home town Jersey City !
Love the areial shots, with the World Trade Center in background.
Thanks
Too bad no one puts on shows like this anymore. I'll be seeing them and Tears for Fears this June!
this songs great xxx
I got to see them on this tour. Great show
i still love that they flew the heli to sing a song
bsklasika It s a first song from a concert, love Hall and Oates music
What a great lineup.
One of my first concerts as a young teenager was to see Hall and Oates; I think it was the tour in support of Big Bam Boom. A very talented group of musicians.
I never saw it, but I was told this concert was shown on MTV live as it happened. Would love to see the full show (they certainly played more than an hour - the sun sets AWFUL quick when you watch the whole VHS tape - which is only one hour long!)
nopethegeek Yeah I always hated that about VHS concerts. They would regularly edit out about a half hour to an hour of songs. I never understood it either. Especially when there was an hour left of tape.
Tom Wolk and G. E. Smith are state of art musician.
Emanuel Branco I use to watch Saturday Night Live just to see them for those few seconds..
Oates YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
Sweet! I remember watching this on HBO!
I love this show, I think this one was their best!
80s where everyone had big hair, hair everywhere lol and great music. I bet that was a great era to be in
Create Escape it truly was a great decade.
id like to see this on dvd
I've been looking for this version ever since I stupidly recorded over it over 20 years ago. It was on HBO back then. I knew that guitarist from SNL was there. Thanks for posting it.
Reaching out for something to hold
@DarylHall& JohnOates1984
me too love it!!
i love phillyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
I think "Out of touch" it's pretty hard to play live. Anyway, cool stuff!
.. always amazin that a shitty 25 year old videotape can still outdo 99 % of the mobile clips uploaded just yesterday ;) just technically speaking, the content is the biz anyway - so wish I'd been there !
that was great album 5 star.
I love it.very much!!
I
I listen to this classic tune and I wonder how the hell music turned into the shite they play on the radio today.
live in liberty city
@LT1HILLINGHOE so true...my words....
@DarylHall1984
me too love it!!
Woooow!!!!!! En Chile 🇨🇱👌🏆✨ buenísimo 👏👏 ✈️✈️✈️
That must have been crazy times over there :D
@robinthais Yes, you are absolutely right. Very few concerts had the effect on me that theirs did and I've seen alot of big names in the past.
HALL & OATES ROCK!!!!!
I came for the mustache. I stayed for the mustache.
+Dirk Diggler I came for the stache, the mullets & most of all.... the amazing music.
they seem to play faster live and liven up the songs a bit, which I think is fantastic, because you get two sides of them. It takes a very special talent to be able change the songs in the way that they do, without changing the structure or notes, but to somehow still make it sound different.
@mustangdrew Yeah, t-bone's playing bass in the orange jacket and black hat.
Oh wow the feltmans hotdog test taster has some classic uploads
omg... this is great for movie music
Sou fã dessa dupla sensacional.
Yeah Good auftritt Flying in Helicopter to the Konzert Cool.
See ya T-Bone. Good job.
agreed great great show
MI CUMPLEANOS, WOOOOOO
Trop fort !!! (too strong !!)
The outro to this song live was great! Is that guitar the guy that used to be on SNL band? The guy with the moustache painted my house.
Tyrone Witherspoon Yes, G.E. Smith
G. E. "great entertainment" Smith.
Wish they put this on DVD
Better Blu-ray!
MEL GIBSON,NO SORRY, WILLIAM WALLACE SINGING IN 1985?
JAJAJAJAAAAA
BRAVESONG!!!
I LOVE THE 80'S
This is fantastic! Only Daryl Hall can have that hairstyle and get away with it. :D
@mustangdrew G.E Smith
Who's the guy in the blazer at 06:12 playing some wicked guitar?
Daryl Hall isso é música de verdade, não essas porcarias de hoje, funkozo, pagonojo, breganojo, sertanojo, que nojo.
Orphangames... who else played at that concert?
HAHAHAHA! i see my dad in the crowd...
@mustangdrew T-Bone is the Guy with Black Hat. 2:07
Who is the lead guitarist in the red jacket? He looks very familiar but I can't figure out who he is....
@escaton74 Not looking for an argument but mobile manufacturers would make a lot more compromises making phones. Big ginormous cameras always win.
that's what i meant
Gta vice city song flash fm
when I was 14 I had fantasies about Daryl that would have sent him to jail if they were fulfilled LOL
5:57
