Same. Devy's mix is always such a wall of sound that it passes right through you. He's not just a virtuoso, he also understands how music conveys emotion and how it can affect people.
The bit where he really, really goes for it always make me cry for some reason, so I've just spent about 25mins crying 😂 I fucking love music it really is s gift especially if you can feel it!
I used to rock this song on my portable CD player back in 2003. I always wanted Devy to have the masses listen to his brilliance. It’s happening now and I love it. 🤘🏽
It's funny, the main two reactions I almost always see for the high notes in this song are either laughing or crying. They'll either drop their jaws and then do a silent laugh in disbelief, or their eyes will water and they'll have to hold back tears. It's amazing how this song affects people so emotionally.
Their clothes don't match their age group is I think what everyone is picking up on. We all have unspoken rules in society about who is supposed to wear what, and they break them which is - I think - why people get that "weirded out" feeling looking at them, maybe. Not a judgment of them or us, just an observation.
There is so much fucking power, pain and beauty in this song. It hits me every damn time. Been lucky enough to see him perform it live a couple of times now, and I really hope I get to see it live a couple more times too.
Perhaps the greatest voice in the history of metal. So good he makes it look fucking easy! Some of his vocal performances have awed me to tears, really.
Exactly!!! Or all the professional vocal coaches reacting with the shitty .50 cent laptop speakers or a single crap earbud in. I feel it doesn't do songs they listen to justice.
I've seen all these reactions, thanks for putting them together. RVA has always been my favorite reaction. She fell in love with him too. Devin is God 🤘💯🔥
Had not noticed you had put this one together. I am glad you did not use me in here. These guys all put me to shame, but I already knew Devin before the channel so I can't be surprised anymore. Thanks for putting these all together to rewatch man! loved it!
@@ninogogiahsvili was about 20 feet from the stage. OMG it was legen... wait for it...DARY!!!! have got to find another venue close by to see another show. His interaction with the audience is fantastic, and his vocal quality is amazing. Acoustic set, no backing, just him. No kidding, if you have an outside chance of seeing one of his shows, do it!!!!
@@ninogogiahsvili on stage he looks 20 feet tall, you know what I mean?? lol. From the angle I was at I'd say about 6 ft. give or take an inch. I've got pics and some cellphone footage but I'm not sure if there's a way to attach them here
Absolutely Loved this! I've seen most of these YTbers react to Deadhead. FYI, Devin had a cold during the version at RAH and still performed to perfection. 🖤🤘💯🔥
Are reaction channels just validation for our own tastes? Except for Rebecca who gives you good info and critique about singing, all the rest just say WOW for views.
i think exactly the same! The carismatic voice (ruclips.net/video/v1wMWCNTy6M/видео.html) is one of very fews who tell technical things ( and evebn invites you to a show ofdevy). Music is not a race, but Devin is winning
...nice compilation, enjoyed .... just try to keep the same sound level or its quite disturbing when high volume is changed by low and then high again ....
Yeah, unfortunately there were a couple clips that I didn't normalize the audio on...the other problem is that some of the source videos have the song quieter than the talking, and for others, that is reversed. I normalized every video (minus 1-2 that I missed) to the same dB so that the overall talking and music volume is the same. If I ever do a part 2, I may do things differently though :).
when I start to hear to devin I think OK WTF IS THERE?...IS A GREAT GENIUS OF MUSIC ROCK, LYRICS AND SOUND IS CLEAN POWERFULL.... HE MAKES ME CRY COUSE THIS GENDER OF ROCK IS ALMOST DEAD FOR THE STUPID MUSIC LIKE REGGUETON
I actually was always disappointed there wasn't more harmonic guitar play, which makes up the great beginning... It's a "good" song, but I can get over it...
Hans Von Witzland this couple surely does. Many younger folks think being a RUclips star is a career...sadly 99% of them don't make enough for rent. Work ethic in the USA is at an all time low.
The only good thing about having all of the reaction channels is that a lot of people get exposed to music they otherwise would have never listened to.
Devin: "Watch me do my impression of an opera singer and a jet taking off."
This made me laugh my ass off
Count me in the busting a gut group.
I definitely catch your drift; my first thought was also: "I've never heard a singer with afterburners before...!" Ridiculously good performance!
I can't stop watching RVA reacting to this. She really gets the emotional intensity of what's going on. She's great.
best reaction bless her
Too bad they cut her line when she said "I need a cigarette and I don't even smoke" lol
I thought I was going to get sick of the repetition, and instead I was treated to 25 minutes of full body chills, every single time.

Totally agree. It’s just beautiful how music can make you feel. This song is incredible devin is just awesome.
Saw him do this live while standing 2 feet away from the stage about 2 years ago. Sounds JUST like this. Incredible.

That poor lady at 11:50. She was NOT prepared for Devy haha. I'm glad she enjoyed it, though!
For real. She literally had a religious experience listening to that. Her soul was moved. :D

My favorite has to be Rebecca - she's fun to watch!
I agree.

Same, love her!
she have a very cute reaction on a extreme vocals) really nice)
Devin's so good he made her drop the f-bomb.
Devin puts EVERYTHING HE HAS into it and the results are simply perfection
I love watching the reactions to Devin. Just pure joy. Isn’t this what life is all about. We only have one chance at it
Thank you for the video. I discovered Devy with this song and now I got Empath on my head everyday and night. It is changing my f life for good.

His modulation during the “oh yeah” really affects people. Even if they don’t understand why. That’s a magic moment in this powerful performance.
Kel-n-Rich creep me out
Same. Not sure what it is about them specifically except the way they're swaying their heads through the whole thing.
Same here. I'm all about feeling the music but there's something about them that feels.. off. I dunno, it's like they're in a trance or something.
Me three. Dunno...theyre nice people and all...but they seem to me...Odd.

I just love watching the emotion flow into their eyes. I never get tired of watching people watch some Devy.
22:18, Rebecca: I'm going to pause this. Devin: "whoooooooooooooa"
Thanks so much J - I've visited all of the Devy reactions to this performance many times. It was cool to see the juicy parts blowing people's minds!

He and Maynard James Keenan are the gods
Disgustingly amazing.. pitch perfect in whatever he does.
Thanks for this compilation! Amazing! I love Devins voice!
It hurts me seeing people listen to this song with tiny apple earbuds. This deserves better headphones lol

In 100 years from now they will teach Devin as one of the most brilliant musicians in mankinds history in elementary school...I bet...:-)
25 mins of goosebumps. Thanks.
This man puts more emotion into a song than ive had to put into my whole life. Heavy Devy puts it on THICK

Devin Townsend live always brings a tear to my eye.
Man I love how you can literally see people sharing the same emotions when Devy hits *that* note. Like pain, joy, agony and complete disbelief 😂

Fukin incredible. If this doesn't make you feel alive. Your already dead
Have you picked up Empath. His best album in years and has cracked my top 3 Dev list with Ocean Machine and Terria.
Patrick Whitney I did! I was not impressed with Genesis and Evermore struck me as just ‘okay’ but I love Why?, Hear Me and the mighty Singularity.

It's interesting to see how many people are visibly emotionally affected by him. For good reason mind you imo.
Ya oughta link all these videos in the description.
I considered that. If you search for the username that I put on-screen and put "Deadhead" after it, you'll find each one.
How many of the reviewers have now downloaded something of Devy.. a good few I hope ..*smiles
Devin Townsend is so good, that you can make a video compilation of reactions to him. Could you please make one of Kingdom? .3
4:10 is that Ryan Reynolds' brother?
halflifesistah was my reaction the first time ahahahahaha
Devin is a monster !!!!!
You should do one of these to "Death of Music" live at Royal Albert Hall. LEGIT worth it!
I wonder if Sam Kinison was an influence on his screams?
Would you be able to make the same compilation for Kingdom?
That's a good idea! I'll look into it.
Live Plovdiv is the best performance of Deadhead!
He's the best

25 min long video of people that try to figure out wtf just happened
Pretty much!!
kel n rich make me laugh so much.. he is such a jewish dad who had a midlife crisis and found himself a "younger model"
On a Devin live concert you don't sing that song along with him, out of respect for his performance.
most needed cigarette after that :D
