Finding the Easter eggs by myself as a kid was so exciting!! I’ll never forget just messing around with the buttons on my DS lite on the super Mario bros screen & then Luigi pops up!! Couldn’t believe it!!
btw, those mysterious figures in Galaxy 2? Those are known in the files as hell valley sky trees, which death valley I assume part of that name is also the file name for the galaxy they appear in that game. It's believed they are tree spirits. They also are programmed to be a set distance away from the player character, so no matter how close you try to get to them (even through cheatcodes), you will never reach them.
i think super luigi u deserved to be added to this video, alongside the rpg games (Super Mario RPG, Paper Mario, the Mario and Luigi series), but all in all, it was a great video! there were some I never even would have thought to check for!
Fun fact in Super Mario Bros. for the NES whenever you break a brick, in lore, your actually freeing the toad not murdering so not breaking the brick is a bad thing
Do this with mario kart! There are so many easter eggs in mario kart like the cool reference to mario kart wii in mario kart 8 deluxe's labo section of the title screen
Another Lost Levels easter egg. if you touch the flag when your coin count is a multiple of 11 and the last digit of the timer is the same (Example: 77 coins when the last digit is 7), you will get a 1-UP
Just so you know the Piantisimo 2 character in "Super Mario Sunshine" was not meant to be a Zelda Easter egg but is supposed to be a famous Italian Marathon runner, though they may have used to running man from the Zelda Games as a Model for the character as that would have been easier for the programmers, also you should know that there was supposed to be more lines with Mario actually talking in the game but those lines were written out in the final draft but the content is I think available somewhere online
One Easter Egg you missed in "Super Mario 3D Land" is the P-Wing level skip power-up which you to the best of my knowledge can only get in a unique Purple house thing which appears as a reserve item that allows you to skip to the end of any level which for me is the only way I could ever beat the final special level that appears only after beating every other aspect of the game
One other Easter egg in sunshine is also in the part where you see the footage of the old Mario games with flood. The text in the bottom right hand corner are other Mario titles written backwards.
I remember once reading an article where someone very closely analyzed the text on the star statue in the courtyard. Apparently it reads "A secret star lies here" which, in the DS version. A star does come out of that statue after collecting the 8 red coins from the Boos.
@@praquenomereal Nintendo never said that as far as I can tell. There was one guy on reddit who had asked Nintendo about the "L is real" thing and got a response. The responder said that the text is meaningless, and the developers put it there as a joke. Now, as a Nintendo of America "Game Play Counselor" I'm a bit skeptical of how much insider development info he had access to. The writing may well be gibberish filler text that they knew would be crunched to the point of illegibility. If not though, the best reading of it that I've seen is "A secret star lie here ~" that Sean above referred to. There's no definitive answer though.
1:11 - 1:26 The brick blocks Mario could smash were never Toads. The manual of the game on page 8 says "If you come across mushrooms who have been turned into bricks or made invisible, they reward you by giving you a power boost. With each boost, Mario changes into a different, more powerful Mario as shown below." Below the description are the pics of the power ups. The only blocks that were Toads were the ones that have them and we know those kinds of blocks don't break. So no, Mario wasn't committing mass murder by smashing them to pieces, they were just always blocks of bricks.
I was surprised to find so many easter eggs here I didn't know about! Great video! Also, does Super Mario Land 2 really need an Easy Mode? If any Mario game should have one, this one isn't it
One thing you may have wanted to mention about "Super Mario World" for the SNES about the starworld thing is that in the "Gamboy Advanced Version" which alows for better saving I might add, is that after you beat the game the title sequence with Princess Peach changes to indicate you have won the game and the characters can now enjoy their vacation, and that there is a video sequence where you actually see Mario and Luigi tossing the heads that replace the Koopa shells out of their balloon, oh and you should definatly mention how depending on the color of the shell Yoshi eats can determine what either holding onto the shell will do or spitting it out will cause.
Personally I find the Rosealina missing part of "Super Mario Galaxy 2" to be a bit disappointing, though I think that Nintendo did try to make up for it by having her as a Playable character in "Super Mario 3D World"
FIRST EASTER EGG: Dude, it says further into the manual that the mushroom people that were transformed into blocks give Mario a reward for finding them. This means that it's the unbreakable brick blocks that turn into ? blocks after being hit.
If you ask me the thing about Luigi being playable in Mario 64 should have been something they added to the Switch re-release and still could as in the form of DLC(Downloadable Content) kind of like how if you hold L+R in "New Super Mario Bros" for the DS you can play as Luigi instead of Mario, also think that this would make up for the corrected glitches in the re-release that "Speed Runners" were unhappy about in the Unlimited Backward jump being corrected, though I for one am glad they did that as using glitches to speedrun in my mind again may only lead to more problems in the gaming system which would most likely affect other games as well
One Easter Egg you missed is in the level that looks like the dessert galaxy in "Super Mario Galaxy" where the castle you see in the Background after you hit the flagpole appears to be(at least to me) a look alike of the "Saint Basil's Cathedral" featured in the Game "Tetris"
"every easter egg in every mario game" "Honestly I don't have time to talk about them all in this video" I mean, c'mon man. I get why but it's still annoying false advertising
Just in case I have never mentioned this to you before is that while the American Manual says the Mushroom People were turned into bricks, it could be a miss-translation from the Japanese Manual which may have meant something different like the land was turned from Mushrooms into bricks or that they meant blocks instead of bricks as the blocks are unbreakable.
You forgot that in new super Mario Bros wii if in multiplayer or single player holding toad when you finish an level at 11,22,33... you can unlock different toad houses at the start of the world depending on your time.
The “Mario killing toads” theory has been disproven for some time. In the same manual, it states “If you come across any Mushrooms *who have been turned into bricks or made invisible,* they reward you by giving you a power boost.” This proves that only certain toads were turned into bricks, and those bricks can’t be broken, meaning Mario isn’t killing any mushroom folk.
You know the Mario loses his hat thing is actually something in Mario 64 where there are levels where his hat is either stolen or blows off in high wind and as a result makes him more vulnerable to damage especially in the shifting sands level where in some versions (I Think) the sun/heat in the level will wear down Mario's health on its own, why they put it in future Mario games like the one for the Wii is to me at least something of a mystery
Damn, I miss some of the old games. Me hearing super mario land music 1, 2 and more just sound nogalstic. I had this one game in the gameboy that had many mario games in it like playing as donky junior to save DK. Another one with yoshis cookies, etc. Edit: I actually remember the secret to play as Luigi. I was in a daycare and a kid brought his ds playing the game. I wanted to tell him, so I told him if he knows and he didn’t. I was telling him it’s true, so he let me demonstrate it. I did get nervous because I was hoping I remember it and then I hear Luigi’s voice. He looked very amazed, then the next day he wanted me to teach him and kept his ds on all night. I don’t know why but I felt happy helping.
In Super Mario Bros 3, you can hold the down arrow on any of the big white rectangular blocks to go into the background of the level. While you are in the background behind obstacles, enemies cannot hit you.
I’ve noticed that not alot of people actually explain the Hellvallyskytrees. In Japan, there is an area known as “Hell Vally”. The place is near a volcano, but it is very cold. This description matches the Galaxy. In this area, there is folklore of large, tree-like being that roam the area, hence why they are in the game.
A few you missed (not that it’s a bad thing, way too many Mario Easter eggs to cover): Mario 3D Land has a hidden UFO in one of the levels in world one and a hidden ghost in one of the ghost levels (can’t remember the specific levels, unfortunately) The tanooki tree from the opening cutscene of 3D Land appears in the mushroom kingdom in odyssey I’m Super Mario Bros. 3, you can drop under certain platforms to get behind the stage by crouching, which unlocks a warp whistle
I wouldn't call information in the manual as an easter egg, since it was plain as day and easily readable when you bought the game back in the day. Not really an easter egg, that's how NES developers often had to set up the premise for their games. Also, you said you're not going to include glitches and exploits unless the devs intended it, but then proceed to include a glitch for SMB2 Or our of bounds stuff in SM64
12:43 that's semi true in an interview iirc with iwata, because of constraints it was a decision on whether to keep Luigi as a character but have simple level designs or scrap luigi for more complex level designs. Ultimately luigi was scrapped
Big fan of your work. About that manual thing, Miyamoto had confirmed it wasn't true. However, that being said, what we know as the Power Block is called a brick in the manual.
I’m pretty sure only the bricks that contain items are cursed mushroom people. This is their way of helping Mario along his way. Bricks that smash when punched are just plain bricks.
Just to let you know, in the japanese Super Mario All Stars version of The Lost Levels, they changed it to just having to beat the game once without using warps too. I think they kinda just realized that having to beat the game 8 times was kinda ridiculous.
In SMB3, if you crouch on a white semisolid for i think at least 5 second, all hitboxes (except for the ground's) are removed and Mario is in the Background.
Another Easter egg in the smas version of smb,tll is that when you rescue peach in D - 4, mario will have 8 kiss marks on his face as a reference to how you needed to beat the game 8 times to unlock worlds A - D.
Hey copycat I really enjoyed this video. But you know Super Paper Mario has a really cool Easter eggs in a level to. If you go to Fort Frances there's a lot of Easter eggs from the Thousand Year Door and the original Paper Mario game. And if you beat the flopside of pit of 100 trials you get a catch card with Mario and you can play the game without having to worry about getting damaged for being in 3D to long.
Mario Bros was technically the first Mario based game (or Donkey Kong, but that's its own franchise.) In Super Mario Bros. a great Easter egg is Turtle Tipping gaining you about a hundred lives. In Super Mario Bros. 3, you can beat the airship with a special suit (Frog, Tanooki, or Hammer Bros.) you get a different message from the king.
Pretty sure in the Mario64 "Red F" secret, that's actually just the trap door texture/model seen from our of bounds, causing it to appear odd. Expecially considering the location of the Cool Cool Mountain and Bowser entrance, pretty sure that's all it is. No easter egg or "Left in" item. Good video though :)
Members tab is now live! Click to join for early videos and you'll be able to pick video ideas for me!
Nice! Also, this isn’t Mario, but in AC:NH, when you get a squid, it says it’s off the hook, an Easter egg and reference to Splatoon 2.
Also, for NSMB3, if you crouch on a white semisolid long enough, you go into the background.
You didn’t include the link reference in sm3dw
The next side on Super Mario Bros 1 said Mario free Toads from the curse.

The sun heat thing is false
@@CinnamonOwO My Mistake, I wasn't sure about it, I hope that I haven't upset anyone
17:45 I remember doing that a lot when I played the game
6:43 who else has completes super Mario world fully with all secrets and if you have like me like this comment
I remember when you were at 10k subs. Nice job man 👌
One of the Easter eggs you missed was in Mario 3D land with a ghost house. At a certain time, a ghost appears in the background of the flagpole
In Mario Odyssey in the rooms where you have to feel where the moon is it plays the Super Mario Bros 3 music from the card houses
The Dolphin thing is also reference to the GameCube, as it was almost called the Dolphin.
In Super Mario Bros 3, you can hold the down arrow on any of the big white rectangular blocks to go into the background of the level. While you are in the background behind obstacles, enemies cannot hit you.
Also in the All-Stars version of super Mario Bros 2 if you pause the game and hold l and r then you also die
Please do a video on all the Easter eggs in Mario Odyssey!
Mario odyssey is in video
@@dominoes64 _ALL_ Easter eggs.
Hello! There is a Easter egg in smw3 where you can get a warp whistle that plays a piece of a song from legend of Zelda
I still remember on the SNES version of Super Mario Bros. 3, if you go to the start pad on each world then you can play the classic arcade game . . .
This might not be an Easter egg but the records house in Super Mario Bros. U is actually Nabbits house
The "fish" jumping with you in Mario 64 looks more like a janky column of water to me, like simulating a splash as best they could with N64 tech
One Easter egg in odyssey that stuck out to me was the fact that the sounds in the pause menu actually reference the comet observatory
A few you missed (not that it’s a bad thing, way too many Mario Easter eggs to cover):
Mario 3D Land has a hidden UFO in one of the levels in world one and a hidden ghost in one of the ghost levels (can’t remember the specific levels, unfortunately)
The tanooki tree from the opening cutscene of 3D Land appears in the mushroom kingdom in odyssey
I’m Super Mario Bros. 3, you can drop under certain platforms to get behind the stage by crouching, which unlocks a warp whistle
Keep up the good work man!! Great videos!
I just realized how funny the goomba on the cover art for Super Mario 64 looks
I wouldn't call information in the manual as an easter egg, since it was plain as day and easily readable when you bought the game back in the day. Not really an easter egg, that's how NES developers often had to set up the premise for their games.
Also, you said you're not going to include glitches and exploits unless the devs intended it, but then proceed to include a glitch for SMB2
Or our of bounds stuff in SM64
Interestingly, codewise a 0 in the timer's last digit also triggers the fireworks effect in SMB. It just triggers 0 fireworks.
In super mario oddesey, the hand signs when grabbing a moon are based of SM64, SMG, and another one i cant recall.
Sunshine, thats the one where he does the peace sign ✌
@@masonschaal6679 the peace sign is from SM64, i think you mean the ✊
I’m pretty sure only the bricks that contain items are cursed mushroom people.
Well done on 100k!
I was today years old when I learned about SMB A-continue. Now I want all those wasted hours back.
Mario Bros was technically the first Mario based game (or Donkey Kong, but that's its own franchise.)
In Super Mario Bros. a great Easter egg is Turtle Tipping gaining you about a hundred lives.
In Super Mario Bros. 3, you can beat the airship with a special suit (Frog, Tanooki, or Hammer Bros.) you get a different message from the king.
66: A mini mushroom *shows Mario getting a Super Mushroom* bruh
Pretty sure in the Mario64 "Red F" secret, that's actually just the trap door texture/model seen from our of bounds, causing it to appear odd. Expecially considering the location of the Cool Cool Mountain and Bowser entrance, pretty sure that's all it is. No easter egg or "Left in" item. Good video though :)
11:36 Just payin' respects
14:22 fun fact: that place is actually a pacman reference, think about it, blue walls and ghosts, exactly what a pac-man level looks like
Again, you said the same thing
@@Diamondsigmaspaceb i forgot i already commented on this video
The "bricks" they were talking about was the "?" Blocks and what they meant was the toads were giving you the power ups :)
