When stores were charging 40 bucks for an n64 no one was buying them. So many companies went out of business because the market was stagnant. But the second people start inflating the price sht magically started moving. If y'all were around during the power gamer days then DKoldies would've been out of business a long time ago.
@@kevingarth6682 ONG, false scarcity can be made when you start pretending something is rare and expensive. Video games are not like vintage cards or paintings, they're unique experiences you can sit there and interact with for hours, yeah sure a vintage card is a unique experience too but it's not on the level of video games, vintage cards are just just a piece of history, there's nothing else to it but value. There's reproductions of expensive cards but yet only the original retains it's value, this is fine. The problem with this happening with games though is that some games only have 2 ways to be played, you either shill out for expensive cartridges/disks or emulate them. Games are meant to be played and experienced not put up for auction like a card. That's why you can't increase the value of VHS types, you can watch a superior version of those films on the internet or on re-releases, rendering vhs tapes useless. That's why I love backwards compatibility, ports, remasters and re-releases. But when you can't get the same experience as emulating a game and playing it on the official hardware (DS, 3DS, some Wii and Wii U games) then you have to go out of your way to buy it. Idk why pokemon games are so expensive, they were readily available anywhere and sold MILLIONS of copies so why now are they more expensive then their original release price. Because people are artificially inflating them for their own gain.
It’s a basic tactic, but effective. Because people can easily get fooled into buying something because it reminds them of an old franchise. They don’t care if the game/console is bad, they only car if they can get the characters head on it so they can bait people into buying their game. Like Balan Wonderland. They brought Yuji Naka (The maker of Nights), as a way of baiting people into assuring that their money is going some where good. Kinda like that one SpongeBob episode where SpongeBob and Squidward were on the stage. (But TLDR, Nostalgia is a basic example, and Square is an example with Balan Wonderland using Yuji as a “rug pull”.)

Sorry to hear about the game not working! Please send us it back so we can wipe our snot on it and smash it with our DK Oldies lolipop chainsaw controller!
Yeah some higher quality ones give you a better resolution and doesn't look washed out but they're not giving you a high quality one. Just a cheap one that they're ripping off for $25 + tax and shipping if you're not in the US.
If what you see is this bad imagine what you don't see... Some lady cleaning her garage and sends in a collection in mint condition worth $10 000 and they probably paying $2-300. I wonder if the owners hides behind joey just so they don't get the blame for what they are doing lol.
That's what we said in the video originally but cut it out to save time since the original recording is an hour lol. Yeah pretty much, near the end of the original recording we said Joey was the posterboy of this company because the actual owner hides behind him to not be the one to face the backlash, because of course he knows this is a scam. And they pay you in crumbs just to shamelessly resell it for a higher price. I wouldn't put it past them to even buy on ebay for a low price just to flip on their site.
I would say if you can, go to a retro game store, everything is usually 1/3 of what DKoldies sells it for. I know I sound like one of those “retro gaming enthusiasts 🤓 “ but I would recommend original hardware if you can.
Just to be clear. I know it doesn't seem like alot of these prices are crazy high or anything in the grand scheme of things but when you're talking about decade old games here that used to be readily available everywhere suddenly being skyrocketed to prices of games you can currently get on the market. Why spend $40 on Super Mario Bros DS when you can spend it on a game like breath of the wild (you can get a brand new copy for $41 in many stores) or monster hunter rise with the expansion for $50 an incredible game you can play with your friends and never get bored of, why buy anything from this scammy website when you can buy an indie game for less while also supporting the developers and enjoying a brand new experience instead of participating in an increase of the price for these dirt cheap old games, because other sellers will also follow suit and jack up their prices. People that buy off DKoldies don't know any better and just want an easy way to get these games instead of going on ebay and finding the game they want for what it's really worth. Nostalgia is one hell of a feeling, wanting to go back and experience what you felt long ago, but that means people like the guys behind DKoldies will use your nostalgia to line up their pockets. They are only paying 10 - 25% to the people selling them these games so they can flip them for alot more. Final Fantasy 15 is under $10 at Gamestop. Go create a new experience that won't be expensive in the future because the game will always be available through many means nowadays because preservation is taken more seriously than in the past, instead of being forced to either buy an expensive copy of a game you owned or have to emulate. They can only get away with this because people allow them to, stop buying something that doesn't seem worth it, they'll drop their prices back down, NES games have dropped in price after a massive spike because people thought they were sitting on gold when in reality they're sitting on a plastic square with the data files of the game available at your fingertips through emulation. Win for you and loss for them, so they'll lower their prices. Remember, games are meant to be played and enjoyed then passed on, not price gouged because of your nostalgia or willingness to buy an OG physical copy.
I wish I saw these videos before buying something from these scam artists but I bought three snes titles and they Where are cosmetically flawed they should put the description as cosmetically broken

I could understand if they charged a little bit more than the average price, but only if they actually did anything to the consoles and stuff. I wouldnt mind paying 5 dollars more for a game if I knew it was coming from a business that ensured quality

I got an "as is" one at a garage sale for only $30 console and cables only. The disk drive surprisingly worked. No red ring either, 1 catch, it was a locked console because of the family code so you practically couldn't do ANYTHING on it. I hard factory reset the console after some time and it worked perfectly fine. No scratches on it, no chips or damage, just a very dusty console that was locked because of a family code, I cleaned it up and scored big for only $30.
I hacked my 3DS the other day and it was one of the best decisions I've ever made. I can finally get the pokemon games I want instead of burning a hole in my wallet lol
in conclusion, do your research before buying retro games. you can find almost all of these games and accessories for 60% less than the dkoldies price with just a little snooping around
Nah, things are going up everywhere. Price charting is a little lower. No one is selling a Genesis for $50. If you're lucky, you'll be able to win as a higher ebay bid for $80.00
I actually bought a version 1 Sega Genesis with 3 games for exactly $50 not too long ago. I also got a Japanese Sega genesis for what is $30 converted. Checking Ebay for Sega Genesis, I found a "buy it now" working version 1 genesis for $40 console and controller only, the seller has a 100% positive seller rating so it's legit. I also found one for a bid ending tomorrow and only 1 bidder going for $20 so you could definitely snag that for $30 or $40, it's a working version 1 console with a controller and it's cables, the seller has a 99.5% trusted rating, that sounds like a steal to me. Go check Ebay they're actually pretty cheap.

I know people are saying they’re a scam and that people who don’t know much would buy from them because they’re the first option that pops up but honestly it’s not their fault, we have the technology to check the prices from 50 different buyers and if you get “scammed” because they price gouge to the limit then it’s more on you than them, if you as a person buys the first option without checking for other prices you deserve what you get, still funny to laugh at this Lee website and the logic behind it but people that are saying they feel scammed it’s not on them it’s on you, if this was the early 2000s I’d understand but you have the ability to check every website within minutes.
I recently bought a GameCube console that was listed as “Refurbished” on their website. The console was dirty as all hell and wouldn’t even read games. That is false advertising. They are 100% scam artists…
I got a complete in box copy of Pac-Man World 2 and Pac-Man VS. for the Gamecube for only like 15 bucks on Ebay and they're selling the same thing for 34$ and a solo copy of Pac-Man World 2 for 50 bruh
I do understand the concern some people may have about having the case or manual sold separately, but I think they do that for the sake of collectors who have incomplete games and want to make it complete again. One of the very few reasons I ever go to their site anymore. I only assume some of the games are sold without the case and/or manual as an option because that's how they received it; any separate cases and manuals being sold separately cuz that's also how they receieved them. But I do think that if they have separate cases and manuals available, they should pair it with any available discs they have rather than just selling them completely separately.
Def Jam Fight for NY is around $200 complete for PS2 (I have no fucking idea why this got so expensive, it was released on THREE consoles and sold well from memory.) DKoldies price: $270 for the DISK ONLY LOOOL GTFOH.

I probably would've paid 300€ for this with a 50/50 chance that the console wouldn't work...

I checked the site myself and theyre selling an Xbox 360 E for $279.99, that console came out in 2013 and you can easily get it for like $80
I got an "as is" one at a garage sale for only $30 console and cables only.
Real ones just jailbreaking their retro consoles and installing every game for free instead of getting ripped off lol.
This 👆
I hacked my 3DS the other day and it was one of the best decisions I've ever made. I can finally get the pokemon games I want instead of burning a hole in my wallet lol
in conclusion, do your research before buying retro games. you can find almost all of these games and accessories for 60% less than the dkoldies price with just a little snooping around
My pillow guy did the same thing with the pricing he was forced to change his pricing structure
@@residentfortress420 the buy it now I see it for $99.
@@jbalien20 Well there's more than 1 listing obviously so I don't know what you're looking at. What I was looking at could be gone by now.
loving my $10 hdmi cable I use to play my ps2 and n64!!! thanks dkoldies!!!
I love (lol) that any console you get after market (probably mad cat) controllers and need to play to get real ones
Subscribed, very good content! I hope to be as big as you some day.
DKOldies, more like EAOldies!
Was gonna buy from their site but when I saw the prices I was like FUCK NO
On admin control panels for websites you can just make accounts with no verification (No email or phone) and then leave reviews in that accounts name as a verified purchase. Chances are allot of the 5 star reviews are fake
I feel really bad for not buying more NES and SNES and gamecube games a few years ago because I never realized how much the prices would be inflated, I literally bought Mario 1 on nes for 5$ and now it's worth nearly 3-4x that price
Yeah I regret throwing out some of my old games.
Id rather eBay a retro console and then get a RetroFighters controller than deal with this mess
Retro Fighters make some of my favorite controllers. Definitely my favorite N64 controller makers which top the original too.
Brave user, you have all my respect
Joey not even the owner always thought he was so i can’t even be mad at him cuz he ain’t the one setting the price
DKKnobheads, robbing Grandmas purse since 2001.
They probably didn't start out this bad.
I just bought a GameCube with gameboy player, double dash, and some gameboy games for 200$… dk prices are scary wtf
Double that for just the Gameboy player disk 💀
Where did you buy that
@@ld_airsoft9106 OfferUp 😅
At least GameStop tries 😂😂Sad but true 😎
Yeah for disk only games at least they had their own cases to give you. With Dk oldies you get the equivalent of a zip lock bag (sleeves). Those sleeves are better than just chucking in bubble wrap in a box I guess.
This Internet Drama is wild. Thanks for the video 🤙😎
in the video, when they go to the rare games section, i saw def jam going for 300 dollars. i own def jam, it was my uncles as a kid. the game was originally 20 - 40 bucks at retail. now a days if im not wrong, the game goes for 80-90 bucks
"It has double dash doe" SOLD
Bro selling only the disc and only the case is INSANE
Where PT 2 at fam imma need another cosmetically flawed video again 🔥😂😂😂
Subscribe and we might do another at 500 subs.
With that kind of prices am glad emulators exist
I bet you they got people writing comments and give them five-star reviews on their website
I feel like they quadrupole the price of the original price.
Not sure how they’re in business with this prices. What average joe can afford that. If I’m spending 500 it’s gonna be on a current gen system lol that guy on dk okdies is such a fraud
It's hilarious how this man wants to sell you Twilight Princess, that has been released in three different consoles, for 165 dollars.
okay the price of 350 dollars for a gamecube with games makes sense cuz thats how much u would usually get it from any gaming business but over 300 dollars for a game💀 no way
You can definitely get it for much less with no games.
@@residentfortress420 yea probably for someone willing too sell a used one off ebay, but for gaming companies they are actually expensive and it all depends what else your buying with it too like games, they sell rare games that are actually pretty expensive. plus i got a 3ds xl from them like a couple months ago for like 200 something dollars plus games and its worth it, and they clean their consoles and whatever before selling them
@@ivan_bojorquez They're all used on DKOldies though.
@@residentfortress420 yea its used but they clean it like its good as new, its pretty hard too find one thats not used but im pretty sure there are and probably a little more money
Enjoying my brand new actually working 6$ AV TO HDMI adapter.
Well guess I better hope eBay doesn’t get as greedy as donkey Kong with his retro gaming store.
Def Jam Fight for NY is around $200 complete for PS2 (I have no fucking idea why this got so expensive, it was released on THREE consoles and sold well from memory.)
DKoldies price: $270 for the DISK ONLY LOOOL GTFOH.
Emulation go brrrrr
They charge $200+ for Def Jam Fight for New York 🤣
and this children is why we are all aboard the pirate ship
All ahoy!!!
2 weeks later, the same games are on “Sale” is their a way to report this for False Advertising?
The component converter is a knock off do more research guys it's much worse then you think 😂
I got windwaker on gamestop for like 30 bucks in the original case in like 2017
Isn’t there a lawsuit that can be put in place for the discount false advertising? OW was also stepping over this line and reverted it cuz people were talking about it being illegal
They should change their name from dkoldies to dkcleandies.I buy my 2ds with hack 32gb sd card for only 74$ and charger in not mint condition .And i check the price on their web.The f***king not mint condition is 140$ and the good one is f***king 190$.What they do is only test the console , clean it up for 50$.I mean wtf is going on.
I'd rather buy my games and consoles on CeX (UK and Irish shop), there's a fat PS3 for 60 euro, and a Wii for 40 euro 💀 DK is ripping off their audience.
18:38 HOLY SHIT, EXPLORERS OF SKY IS THAT EXPENSIVE?! I can get it for double digits in regular stores, guessing it’s E-Shop price on the 3ds wasn’t in the hundreds too. I like the game but damn these people are greedy
It's crazy that they're charging sometimes double for the stuff compared to the price when it was brand new...
I mean, I get that some games/consoles are rare but I mean c'mon, I can get a PS2 for like 20 bucks at a yard sale which probably is in a better condition than DKScammies consoles.
In fact, I bought a SNES with Super Mario World, all cables and a controller for 15(!)€ at a yard sale a few years ago. Everything works fine and looks good. I probably would've paid 300€ for this with a 50/50 chance that the console wouldn't work...
Please do a part 2 of this.
I considered it a couple weeks ago, and actually I was going to go easy on DK Oldies, specifically just Joey, but then I went nah I'd be milking it if I did that.
@@residentfortress420 that's understandable your should make a video on another gaming website with crazy prices. Glad to see your still active!
They make Gamestop look a bit better now and that's shocking for me to say
DK oldies is the StockX of retro game shops 😂
I’ve bought a couple complete Wiis with everything but the box (1 had wii sports) for $20 each…
At a local Goodwill…
AND IT CAME WITH A RANDOM FUCKING RECIPE!
I use copies of Wii Sports as coasters and skeet shooting targets and DKOldies is trying to tell you the most popular game ever is worth $50
💀💀💀
I refuse to believe DKOldies is real. There’s no way. It must just be a simulation or something.
WTF! One person got a fake mario64 game. Thats REALLY bad
I actually got a gameboy player with the disc for exactly 100 dollars
And since your order got picked to be filmed here’s your bill after buying from us
Bro I have a fkin wii in my couch cushions
Thank you im gonna be saying "cosmetically flawed" forever now
All the joey pundits are the best 😂
That's why you emulate your game!
Image buying a 400 GameCube, when you can get a series s (current gen console) for half that. 🤦♂️
Less than half, I've seen Series S digital edition consoles go for as low as $170 upfront payment no shipping or E transferring. Even Gamestop is selling them brand new for $229.99. Gamestop is even doing PLANS for $25 a month, you're basically paying a monthly subscription for 1 year until you've paid up to the price of the console then the plan ends and you fully own it. But you have DKOldies over here price gouging a $100 gamecube for $400 because nostalgia.
And you can emulate gamecube on xbox
@@fluttersyy Or you could just buy a wii, mod it, and play gc games off an sd card. Just gotta make sure you buy one that supports the gc
Cosmetically Flawed
EA OLDIES
S++ tier insult
It might as well be banned in tournament play
This was great 😭
"Is DKOldies a scam? No"
Wait who said that. Am I missing a joke
@@residentfortress420 The guy who appears on that webpage. Said on DKOldies youtube channel short video.
