You might want to put a couple of holes in the bottom so that your plants don't get water logged. Just a suggestion. Colin

Steve, this is such a fun idea for a herb garden. Especially if you don't have wide windowsills in your home. Coming from a person who moved 2 years ago... I hope you find everything as you settle into your new home. ❤❤❤

Hi Steve, Wishing you all the happiness & all the best in your new home & a healthy happy & prosperous 2024❤️👍🌈 loved your idea you could put bird seed in them that would be so lovely to watch the birds feed 👍

I like this! There is a huge black squirrel that frequents the sugar maple by the South driveway on my property. I think it would really like a little buffet-on-a-board, birdseed, nuts, corn, maybe some plain croutons 😉

@@CoffeeCakeCrumble I’ve read that cold bacon grease rolled in birdseed helps them out. Grease seeded Lollipops 😂
Hadn’t thought about fats but it looks like those bird seed blocks are made from it too 🤔 ~maybe some research on that could be useful 👌

What an original idea Steve. I think if I made one of these, my granddaughter would be excited to grow the herbs in them. She's just finding out about the tastes of the different herbs so this idea will go down a treat! Thank you Steve. I hope your move goes well and that it as stress free as possible. God bless you and your loved ones, and Happy New Year!

I think you would need to add a couple of drainage holes in the bottom of each can, especially for children, it is easy to overwater.

I had no idea what you were making until the last step of adding the labels. Very pretty, I love the colour combo, and you gave a million little tips along the way (the chalk paint is something I'll surely try). I hope your move is going okay, also, Happy New Year!

My son keeps complaining about my tin cans and empty glass jars as to don't like to throw things out just in case? I use my cans to make lamps in the garden, I punch holes in the sides in different shapes so that the light can shine through. You should try it sometime.

I've never planted herbs before. Do they need any type of drainage? I think most plants are supposed to have a drainage hole or something.
Don't ask me, I am a plant killer 😂 I literally killed my son's grass he was growing for a science project (he got his good grade before I killed it, thank goodness!)

That would be more appropriate for markers or pencils, rather than plants. Not very practical for plants.
