    The easiest way of removing a sticker I’ve found so far is to use oil. Vegetable oil or olive oil. Rub a small dab of your oil of choice directly on the sticker and rub back and forth or in small circles. The sticker comes off pretty easy. Then wash with warm soapy water and rinse. Easy peazy 😊

  • @Becka.M-D
    @Becka.M-D 11 месяцев назад

    I am sorry this is a long comment, but there are suggestions listed below to personalise it to your requirements or taste.
    Thank you Steve for this video. I will be asking friends & family to hold on to the boxes if they receive any over Christmas.
    I prefer it now the sides are painted over. I didn’t like the opaque-ish look with the red dowels showing through. I would suggest if you plan to use it for displays, maybe a thin sheet of MDF (not sure if cardboard would work) & place it inside the lid & then screw in (or nail in) something to hang your earrings, bracelets etc on. Little eye hooks maybe good for earrings & they may stay hooked in when you close the lid. Or you could attach some fishing line, ribbon etc to create something to hang more earrings on to help them dangle using little hooks and/or eyes).
    I also think the monogram on the lid doesn’t work with the holographic film. Maybe it’s just the way the camera picks it up & it looks better in person, but I feel the holographic swallows it up. Maybe you could do a small monogram on the edge of your jewellery box/display box?
    If you want to use it as a display box & you really want to have your monogram on display, I would suggest doing what I suggested above, but before placing your hook & eye, you could place your monogram on there. Large or medium sizes & have you jewellery displayed over the monogram or small, in the centre with jewellery displayed all around it.
    Also if you planned to use it as a display case, keep the lid clear. Then have your bracelets & necklaces laying flat on the fabric display board. Then if you are at an out door market, it can protect your jewellery from the elements.
    I always feel that homemade jewellery displayed this way, is just that little bit more special. Think about high end jewellery stores. They have their jewellery & watches on display with a clear lid that you can see through & that little bit of excitement when they open it up so you can have a close up view & the excitement when you have made that purchase.
    Get some small, strong plain colours that will look good on your display board. Mark on the back of the display board where you want to place these buttons or deceptive but plain beads. Now using several strands of thread or some fishing line, using a strong sewing needle to go up through the board leaving a tail of two-three inches of thread behind, put the needle through the buttonhole or bead & put your needle back through the board where your needle came up through. Tie a knot in the back as an anchor & then go back up through the board multiple times to secure the button or bead in place. Then securely knot the back. Do this multiple times. Think of bed headboards, some mattresses or cushions & chairs where they have this sort of design on it. You could secure all the knots on the back with superglue, a glue gun or superglue & then cover with a transparent or opaque sticky film, like your holographic film, or the film you might have used at school to go over the cover of your books. Or cover with another thin layer of matching fabric.
    The possibilities are endless

    Ive used a heat gun to remove sticky stickers, otherwise i just use goo-gone which is an oil based adhesive remover that smells like oranges.
    Best stuff to remove uncured resin from skin, clothing, or other surfaces is hand sanitizer. Then you wash your hands after if you got it on your fingers etc

    Nail polish remover (non acetone) on a cotton pad works wonders on sticky labels, far quicker and cleaner than soap and water

      Oil is better. It breaks up the glue and it just slips off. Acetone will damage some surfaces, so it's rarely my first choice.
