I have a hand can opener that cuts the lids off in such a way that it doesn’t leave that sharp edge. Too many cut fingers over the years

Those are very cute. I can see a summer party with those on tables and strung on rope around the yard. All with citronella candles to keep the mosquitoes away. It would be magical.🎉

Great job recycling and nice gift idea for friends that enjoy diy yard lights. Inside could use even a battery operated candle but I like real candles.

They do look good. But the nail leaves sharp barbs on the inside that will grab onto your hand when placing the candles inside. I would use my Drexel to eliminate them.
Have you considered drilling larger holes, or using the Drexel to cut out flower or heart patterns, then lining the inside with tape, and fill the cutouts with resin? Remove the tape once the resin has cured.
I don't know how the resin would tolerate the heat of the candle, so putting a LED light in the bottom may be a better option. Stuffing the can with a string of fairy lights might work.
I want to use tin cans and "other stuff" as a base for making cottages and castles for an outside garden. White portland cement can be purchased online in smaller quantities than the 40-90# bags of the regular gray portland cement at the big box stores. Concrete recipes can be found all over RUclips. One can cover the can or other shape base with the concrete and then draw a pattern in the concrete before it dries, or make your own little bricks. Old resin molds can also be used. The cement has to be sealed to make it waterproof. I was using an oil based polyurethane recently for an outside project and since I had the can open, tested to see if mica powder would mix with the poly. It did. I am sure water based poly would work just as well.
Steve, your ideas are always wonderful, but they make the little gears in my old head turn and lead me down a path I had not considered before. I don't know how much longer I can afford to watch your channel. There is always something else I need to buy.
OBTW, if you want/need bigger tin cans, go to a local small restaurant or café and ask them to save you a few of the large cans they get vegetables in.

Reminiscent of what are pie safes in the United States.
Stand alone cupboards with tin insets with punched patterns to keep critters out of baked goods.
