Hey there, I’m one of the organisers of the conference and owner of the discord it’s being hosted on. Just saw this now; thanks for giving it a shout out! We believe the PSP scene is more active than it has been in a long time and we wanted to show that and see if we could create a platform to attract people back to the PSP. We don’t really have any idea about how many people to expect, but with 1700 members as it stands, we expect to fill the screen-share voice channel it’s being hosted in at least. Hope to see some of you there! (Edit: this is the first *ever* PSP conference, so tune in!)
I think it's great when you give PSP new life. I'm curious to see what will come. I think the PSP has enormous potential. It was really ahead of its time.

I'm Iridescence/RedLikeRoses and we're doing this conference with the developers at the PSP Homebrew Server, with about 12 or so developers (possibly more) presenting with nearly 2 dozen presentations. This is roughly 25%-33% of our total developers. I thank you for shouting this out, and I'm looking forward to it. We already had quite a large amount of traffic on it, but this will help even more to ensure our success!
@@davefekete7187 In terms of raw compute, Sony put much more power into the PSP. The Vita is roughly 2x faster at most, with the GPU as the only substantial upgrade. Sony themselves said the Vita was roughly somewhere between the PSP and a PS3. Furthermore, the majority of our community is PSP only, not Vita developers. I would rather you not beg PSP devs to work on the Vita because we aren't going to switch, ever. It's rude and disrespectful to the hours and hours of work that people put in to the PSP to simply say "Vita is better" when you yourself have never developed for either. Furthermore, the Vita is literally missing half of the PSP's computational power that is on the Media Engine... It's also very disrespectful to tell the community manager that "once you're done with PSP" to go ahead and move to the vita. That's not happening.

@@davefekete7187 Listen. I'm saying this to you because other developers are too nice to say it to your face. We don't care about the Vita, and we're not moving to it. The Vita community has a tendency to ask old PSP developers to come to the Vita, and seem to not understand why we don't want to. It's not because the Vita is "5 times better" or that we're "butt hurt" over it. We are a team of passionate people who have all developed for the PSP and love this old console. It's the same way that there's plenty of people who still write cool programs for the Commodore 64, NES, and other retro consoles. Oh yes, newer consoles are better technologically, but they write for them because it's fun and they're passionate about doing it. I've never seen any statistics to back up "emulators on a vita runs 5 times better then the psp" but even if it's true, good for you. What I mean by the PSP being better is that in standard running mode, the PSP has nearly the same raw compute power as the Vita. Each CPU on the PSP is 2.6 GFLOPS, the VFPU + ME + Main CPU is 7.8 GFLOPS, the VME is 5 GLFOPS, resulting in 12.8 GFLOPS of total computational power. This statistic is found by the fact that PSP developers can access the entire console, rather than just the Main CPU. The vita barely edges it out at 14.2 GFLOPS on standard and 28.4 on boost mode. Like I said, it is only 2x faster at most, if not similarly performing. I also literally could care less about this conversation lmao

M33 was THE BEST custom firmware for PSP 1000 to PSP Street. Also, I still got my pandora battery and magic memory stick packed with all my old hacking stuff like my WiiKey etc.
if i remember correct pandora battery was a method to hack the psp at one point and was powerful enough to unbrick the system, needs battery and a pro duo card (i feel old)
The last conference I saw was when they hacked the ps vita and Davy and Jufanlu (if Im not mistaken) was explaining how did they do it . It was on RUclips and I was so excited that I thought it was fake , but eventually realize that it wasn't .

YEA that would be the bomb it'll be even better than the switch. mgs partable ops online was so good the only bad thing was the battery only lasted about 2 hours but it was like ps2.5 at the time.

I remember the Pandora batteries around 2011! Since my original PSP had CFW of 3.65 or something, lots of topics with that name appeared around PSP forums
M33 was the hacking method we'd use before 6.60 Pro and 6.61 infinity. I remember when I first came about you'd actually have to have a UMD inside the PSP to run games off the Memory card
can someone put is time to create a homebrew app that will act as a paylod dongle that allows you to inject a payload for the nintendo switch with your psp?
@Obito Uchiha TheFloW for Adrenaline? I mean yeah, you guys get everything we make so long as we don't use the Media Engine. Aside from that, Rinnegatamante and TheFloW are some of the only people doing work for the scene, and it's dying, whereas the PSP is rebounding and growing.
@John doue Quebec Many passionate developers. A lot of the effort is fought in gathering the developers, which TheMrIron has done a great job at. From there, it's sort of people just pushing everyone ahead and making cool stuff in their free time. We're significantly inspired, and we keep working. I don't know all the problems with the Vita, but just checking Wololo, there's practically nothing updated in a good while, while the PSP community sees some updates even to this day. Most of the developers we have now are from a variety of sources, so wololo isn't representing all. We have 30 (I believe) developers from past and present who all can communicate readily and easily.
Hey. Looking forward for new utilities for psp. It would be fantastic to have pixel art/paint app for psp. Even good viewer could be nice You could download gif anims or make you own and have long lasting display for long-hours work. Of course games after... Also it would be great to be able to connect your midi keyboard and use psp as a sequencer or drum machine... Right now I'm interested in other power source capabilities, since there's second battery possibility .. All best!
MasterMen's paint pro seems to be down that ally, even though it's early development and he is busy. As for MIDI things, I don't think it's likely anybody has the interest. For better picture viewing and stuff, there may possibly be something to offer.

Hey i need help asap me vsh menu is not working at all i try redoing everything but its still no work but when i use fast recov im able to play my games but i cant us the home button and it was from infinity 2
M-33 was before pro C2 Custom firmware and it's based on m33 Dark Alex was the developer for m33 In the begining when I started in 2005 nodding my php I read an article in wired magazine and it basicly told how to play retro games on your psp Back then there was no modding you just created a game150 folder and downloaded the emulators and that was it but as their became updates from Sony the custom firmware scene started There was also programs that would allow you to change the firmware needed to run to PSP game now you don't have to worry about that because of course there's no more updates no new firmware updates The Pandora battery and Magic memory stick what's the fastest way to give someone custom firmware on their PSP and bring it up to the current at the time current level the fastest because before that you had to do it in Step she couldn't go all the way at the top you had to bring it up and steps but with the Pandora battery in the magic memory stick it was done easily also if you manage to Brick or someone had a bricked PSP the magic memory stick would fix it and save their system in the beginning I didn't know how to make a magic memory stick or a Pandora battery I purchased mine for $50 off of eBay it was the best $50 I ever spent, I got into hacking people's PSP and I made a good bit of money for me and my family I would rip they're DVDs or audio CD's and put emulators and PSP games on their system One person I did a system for I put on a 4 gig memory card All three Lord of the Rings movies 3 PSP games every Nintendo game at the time with every translation I had at the time plus Super Nintendo and I think some other games he wanted so he had basically a bunch full games to play and 9 hours of video

It certainly does, but the Vita does not have the same sentimental attachment. Furthermore, the Vita’s homebrew development software is not as organised as the PSP’s... the situation with GPU acceleration in RetroArch/high resolution PSP games in adrenaline should speak to the problems the graphics side has, for instance. Besides, I personally think my PSP go is just a more convenient portable console than the Vita, so I use it instead - nothing more complicated than that!
It's also a lot of developer's preferences. Most of what can be done on a PSP goes onto a Vita and just works too. And the PSP is definitely a lot better to develop for with a wide audience
I like both I got all the psp models all the way to the go version ...but the Vita to me is more powerful and I had more fun in it than I did on the psp ....obviously I use adrenaline to play my old favorites from the psp but as I said would be nice to see the Dreamcast and the N64 running on it

@@Iridescence dang. I been following psp hacking for years now, but only just recently got a psp go. Honestly surprised i haven't seen hacks to force everything to work on the tv when plugged in. A lot of emulators just force a black screen. Psp go would be the ultimate emulator machine if those programs worked
@@Iridescence pretty niche thing if I'm being honest, but definitely weird to see. I know that psp games don't full screen in tv mode, so there must be some code that the psp uses to determine tv size that just doesn't exist in most emulators, or it can't interpret what the emulators are and it just blanks? What's weird is that sound still gets through

Maybe they can make some new stuff for psp go. I think it has a lot of potential with the component cables and bluetooth
When we all make our own PSP projects, of course it works with the Go. But I don't think people will write specifically for one.
