Haha I just recommended this mod on your TB video! I love mine, shifts fantastic. After about 3000 miles it will wear-in a bit and feel slightly less notchy, but still very crisp.
I appreciate you taking the time to describe the install. I have had my 99 for 20+ yrears. I have thought about doing this. I went looking for your test drive video but did not find it. Maybe Im blind....Im old after all:) I have had many short throw shifters in sports cars. Thought one might be nice in jeep. The one thing I would want to do is bend the shifter back a couple inches. Thats pretty close to the dash. Thanks again for your time and effort. I'm watching your stroker videos now. I've thought about Golen or Newcomer Racing. Its easy to get real money in a quality stroker with a Edelbrock head.
My B&M instructions skipped removing the shifter bezel....and I didnt even think of doing it, instead, I crammed my hand in that little gap and wrenched away. Gotta say, I love the short throw shifter in my 2.5 now. Took alot of the slop out of the stock shifter
thats so interesting that you have a stick to your guns sticker in there...thats cool. for, reasons. anyways, thnx for the video. I will be getting one of these for myself at some point. I drive a 2000 Celica besides the Jeep...Night and freakin day I tell ya. lol Ive had Jeeps before so I knew what to expect but man...its been a few years since Ive been behind the wheel of one.. and that throw is just crazy! lol. Its like hold on, let me shift to second...in the back seat. lol
Possibly but my 97 was popping out of first and it was the first gear synchros in the transmission. Its a good idea to pull your console and shift boots then have your linkage checked. If that's all good your looking at an internal problem in the tranny.
I did the same shifter on my 2016 JK. and I'll tell you right now yours is a hundred times easier. the worst part is that dumb doughnut body ring between the trans and body. all the videos show it just going back into place and I call BS! if you even squeeze it just falls apart. went thru 2 finely gave up and just taped it together
Great video!!!!I have i guestion and i need your help please!!!is it possible to install manual transmission to an automatic jeep liberty 3.7 2003 model???? Thank you very much!!!!!!
@@65SEEJAYFIVE Thank you very very very much for the response !!! somewhere in the internet i read that in the USA there was also available with 5 speed manual transmission but i i dont know if that is true...

Thanks for the video. I have always wanted to install a short throw shifter in my jeep. Your video convinced me to do so.
Glad to help!
Shifter gives it a sportier look. Thanks 4 sharing. Great job!
I don't think it will help much for my automatic, but my next Jeep project will likely have a stick. It does look like a worthwhile mod.
I'll be installing one of these on my YJ. Just ordered it today. Great job on the video bud and thank you. 😎👍
Thanks for the video , I plan on doing this for my 2001 TJ
I was hoping it would give a little more room between the shifter and dash. Great install video!
There’s plenty of room for me between the shifter and the dash, and I have bigger hands so I was a little concerned. Not a problem at all 👍🏻
Just received this shifter. Will be putting it on this weekend. The install seems easy peazy. Thank You.
I have the Hurst version, worth every penny!
I have a 97 t.j, and i kinda want a longer shifter. And i need a pedal extender on the clutch 😅my legs r short n hard for me to push it all the way in
T installed mine in my 97 2.5 L (4 cyl)
The part number is 45206.
Have an AX-5 transmission on mine.

Very helpful video and Excellent Job.
Does it work ok with a body lift causing it to pop out of gear (hopefully that’s why anyways)? 2001 TJ with NV3550

I have a 2000 TJ and I’m having trouble shifting into 2nd and reverse. Thoughts?
Do you have a body lift? If so, is the shifter boot binding up the shift lever?
Do you have a link for the leather shift boot? I hate the stock boot in my 2000 TJ. I’m in PA as well!

Will this help my factory shifter jumping outta first?

I have no idea, but I’m sure it would be difficult as I doubt anyone makes the correct adapters, flywheel, pressure plates etc for you model.

@@fotisfoukas5069 that may be possible, I’m just not up on my Jeep Liberty info. Good luck 👍🏻
@@65SEEJAYFIVE Thank you very much!!!!
hi chief !!! this shifter works on jeep YJ ??
do you know if ther is available for jeep wrangler tj 1997?
Should be, check their website
That's a 97 with an AX-5 transmission, you have to know what kind of transmission you have.
@@guachinango582a 4 cyl is an AX-5, 6 cyl is AX-15, need to know your transmissions.
Great project
Thanks 👍🏻
Damn I got ripped off I ordered same shifter and only got the base shifter, no boot no knob , no new shifter it self , WTF
Now throw an extension on it for leverage against those stubborn, failing synchro shifts lol
I have no issues (yet) with my transmission.
It doesnt feel “notched” ie it *slides* into gear instead of racecar *CLICK* when it goes into gear.
It slides in smooth like the original, just with a shorter throw. No notched shifts.
You can bend the shifter away from dash
carefull bending aluminum it can break easy.
