Time for julen to experience the time honored tradition of playing this 24/7 for 3 months straight, then not touching it for 4 years, and then suddenly wanting to play again thus repeating the aggressive cycle of The Sims

I’ve been exclusively playing sims 2 since it came out in 2004. Recently I downloaded sims 4 base game thinking “fuck it, let’s give it a shot. how different can it be” and I swear to you I had to quit bc I had no clue what I was doing 😭😭

i have played the sims for like a solid 17 years and NEVER had my firemen start dancing in sync after putting out a fire😂💀 that was the funniest thing i’ve seen in awhile

It's facinating as someone who has only really ever played Minecraft and The Sims (heavily experienced simmer here), to watch someone who has played soooo many games I have never touched, play the one game I'm practiced in for the first time.
This is one of those “let him cook” moments because I know he will naturally get better but as long time sims player and especially sims 4 player I’m getting all these flashbacks to when it was brand new for me too and the urge to scream is strong lol

I’m so thankful we still have Julien and I’m SO glad she’s happy because that’s all that matters, but God I’d be lying if I didn’t admit I miss her so, so unbelievably much. It really feels like having one of your best friends suddenly decide not to be your friend anymore one day and never seeing them again.

Until i watched this i forgot how overwhelming playing Sims is for the first time. I first played it in the early 2000s so i basically grew up playing it but definitely have empathy for people starting out with the advanced games like 3 and 4. It was super bare bones with regualr sims and even sims 2, so there's a steep learning curve with the newer versions
I really struggle with 4! I prefer 2.
@@KelseyDrummer 3 is my favorite because it's more open world and you can have multiple Sims out of the house at once and have them all simultaneously be building friendships and skills and such. I liked in 3 how kids could "play tag" or "play catch" and you'd have this like massive tag game in the park where everyone is building their social meter but also building relationships easily. Same with play catch being easy to build athletic and social/fun. I also liked that it wasn't so easy for your sim to get pregnant in Sims 3. In sims 4 they just look at someone romantically and they're magically pregnant. I WILL say the outfits and hair options (though I wish there was a "create a style" for the outfits) are incredible cool and diverse. I have had a few multiracial families and love being able to have lots of ethnic hair options and outfit styles. I feel like with both 2 and 4 I have it on the hyper speed option because there's so much "downtime" . I also don't like how in 4 legit everything breaks all the time or catches fire. The "free will" is a lot stronger too where a sim will be holding a baby to bring to the highchair for food exploration and next moment they put the kid down and go for a swim forgetting they have a kid. At least in 3 they don't stop mid action and refuse, they refuse the action completely and go take a nap. 🤣

There are multiplayer mods so you could play with others. Some people play as toddlers together and try to survive with one caregiver. Would require a lot of planning though easy enough for an experienced Simmer.
There are scenarios to play as well in the Main Menu. (also you have enough following EA would probably give you EVERY pack for free if you asked. idk if you plan to play again but it's a possibility.)
