    A few accessories that lure painters need.
    1. Bill Tape. Bill Tape is tape that is pre-cut to the bill of the lure that you are using. A perfect fit every time.
    2. Bill Keep. A Bill Keep is a basically a clear, plastic piece that fits over the bill of the lure that you are painting. Instead of wasting tape, you can use the Bill Keep and then clean it off afterwards.
    New accessories for lures.
    Fake Eyelashes. I added some "Black Mini Skirt" fake eyelashes to a short dive crank bait, 2 to 5 feet dive depth. After trimmer the eyelashes and super gluing the eyelashes to the lure, I coated the ,lure and the base of the eyelashes with waterproof clear coat. After waiting a few days for the paint smell to wear off I tested the lure. The action on the lure was extremely erratic. Depending on the angle of the waves coming towards you and the direction the lure is being being pulled determined the actions.
    Sometime the lure would wiggle just below the surface leaving a shark fin wake due to the dorsal eyelashes. Other times the lure would dive for a second or two, surface and then act like a minnow darting and flipping at the surface of the water before diving again and other times the lure acted like a surface popper before diving.
    Other new accessories could be to apply a layer of clear coat, then roll the lure in ground up rocks of different color or sand before adding the final coat of sealer.
    The colored sand and ground up rocks of different mineral types will add a new layer of WTF when fishing that might cause the fish to strike twice as hard.
    I haven't tried fake fingernails or hair extension on my lures yet.

    Doesn't nail polish leave a scent? I'm a walleye fisherman and I would love to paint some of the lures I dont catch fish on. My gf has a ton of nail polish and I dont have a air brush! Hmmm hahaha. Thanks for the great video

    • @Jekyll424
      @Jekyll424  5 лет назад +1

      Initially, yes. Nasty odor. But if you leave it sit for 36-48 hours, the smell (formaldehyde based smell) dissipates. Give it a shot, and remember, us ladies wouldn’t EVER have something like that on our nails if the smell didn’t go away... lol!

    you deserve more followers and I was wandering if you could use sharpies

    • @Jekyll424
      @Jekyll424  8 лет назад

      You may have seen the Strike King commercial w/ KVD sitting in a workshop... Black Sharpie in hand with a jerkbait in the other.
      In short, yes, you could, but they bleed through paint and epoxy pretty bad. But!
      The point is, experiment. Try different things, because not everyone has KVD's bankroll, or sponsors, or airbrushes...
      If you find that it's something you really want to get into, you can do that in small steps!
      I'd love to see all of your attempts and results.
      You can post them to my FB bait page "Jekyll Baits".

    • @Jekyll424
      @Jekyll424  6 лет назад +1

      I think on this video (since it’s geared more towards DIY anglers that don’t have airbrushes or epoxy I just used two different nail polish top coats. But let me watch the video again... it’s been a while.
      Having said that, what I use in my workshop for the real stuff is KBS Diamond Strength Clearcoat. There’s no mixing, it doesn’t Yellow and it’s tough as nails.
      In the way of nail polish clear, Sally Hansen topcoat is by far the toughest and longest lasting. If you just want to repair a few chips in a favorite lure, it’s pretty good
