- Today I'm organizing the clutter creep for the last hoarder garage video with a storage unit. I'm very excited to finally get started on organizing a section of the garage. This wouldn't have been possible a year ago but now we are here. Just like with any other project, focusing on one area of the time is best even if it takes a while!

Anything being declutter is a big celebration! Today I loaded my car with one large box of decluttered items and one large box of food for the food bank for my client today. I’m very helpful in order to make client’s feel good to great when their space is getting declutter
That's awesome!
I recommend getting wall brackets and 1X12 boards and put up near the ceiling for those items that are just in case. Measure tallest box and measure that amount plus an inch or so. You can go around the garage with those.

Good job!. I know it´s frustrating sometimes when helping ones parents with decluttering and organizing, I am doing the same for my mom. Hopefully next shelf will be for things like toilet paper, drinks aso. Perhaps he amount of drinks in bottles has decreased by then. You got a nice pile of decluttering to. When dealing with someone who doesn´t want to get rid of anything every little item counts.

I think the new products in boxes perfectly illustrates the point that items have a storage cost. Any savings are cancelled out by the fact that they are now being stored until use, instead of the shop storing them in the meantime. All space has an opportunity cost.

May be as you’re organizing and decluttering in the kitchen your mom will allow you to trade out the older items for those new ones she has stored in garage. Fingers crossed.

Looks much better....I'm so glad you were able to get a storage shelf....This is blunt, I know, but, I'm wondering if when your parents see how much better it looks to have some things organized, and on shelves, would they be willing to spend some money for storage units rather than spending so much on doubles and triples of stuff?

Would the smaller pot fit inside the larger one? Could the Rubbermaid containers be combined into one or two boxes--I noticed that a couple of them were open?

They don't have time..and when I can come help they are busy with their own lives. It has been hard to schedule it when we can make it work but we've made lots of progress! Thank you 🙏
Glad you finally got a storage shelf unit, that helps. It looks good and she's able to access items better. Keep watching Market Place & the free sites and hopefully find some more.
It doesn't matter if they don't match, can always change them out once the project is completed. I think you should make shelves from 2 x 4's and plywood, they'd be sturdy and hold more.

Mariela, those shelves are actually super strong. we have heaps of 4L tins of paint, a small air compressor, powder tools and all of our fixings (nails, nuts and bolts) and it's not at capacity. So load that big up ☺️
Wow! That's great to know. Do you remember where you purchased from? I want to see if I can find more!
One quick suggestion is to switch the boxes around on the shelf with the garbage bags. The garbage bags would probably be used before the blender and rice cooker so maybe move them closer to the door so they are more accessible and hopefully less likely to be over bought unnecessarily. I could see them getting hidden quickly!

@@MarielaMerino The baby wipes could be taken out of the storage container and put individually on top of other things to. Then you would have 1/3 of a shelf where you could put something else.

I'm glad you're back in the garage... it's a good idea to do as much as possible out there before it gets too hot.

Maybe since you're organizing your mom's kitchen, she'd be willing to let go of all her old tupperware/storage containers and treat herself to a set of new ones. That would get rid of a bunch in the kitchen and eliminate one or both boxes of new ones from the garage. Have one cupboard dedicated to just the new ones with all matching lids. She deserves new ones for doing a great job in the kitchen project!

I tried this many times and it is a struggle when you're the only one with that mindset • the more space I would create, the more things would show up • it's a never ending battle • I gave up • hoping your situation will be different

Wow, great job organizing! What a great find with that shelf! I have the exact shelf and I know I paid over a hundred for it at Target! It was last year and I know it was over priced, because of the pandemic, but it was one of the cheaper ones I could find. I am so happy you found a free one 😊

I was thinking that when you continue the organizing and decluttering of your parents kitchen, you will end up finding more space there to store some of those items and then of course that would free up more space on that shelf out in the garage!

Good job! I know this is an uphill battle. Did you manage to hide their Costco/Sam’s cards yet? Lol. This is nice for the parents now but also greatly benefits you and your siblings in the future.
