Richard doesn't get enough credit for what he does! This humble guy is such a legend!
@@drew_peabawls13 Greater than anything you'll ever accomplish in your miserable life. That's for sure.
I completely agree. He will in time, I suppose.
Richard is super underrated .. talented .. very versatile.
Dude’s tone is AMAZING! SUPER COOL DUDE AS WELL.
it's raw, amp about to explode.... but not really goo for... funk for example lol
The Magnatone sounds great, you can tell that sucker is cranked based off of the low note bloom. I've got a couple vintage Magnatones and they are divine.
When the Phil X Evil Robot was released I jumped on the bandwagon and got one of the first runs. It is based on the original Magnatone Tonemaster 1x12 from the 50's. I never played an original, so I really can't compare the two amps, but I do know it sounds great and get's close as I can to that tone.
Wow I’m not a GNR fan at all but I think I’m in love with this interview! What a clever, intelligent, humble and fun human! Thanks so much for this awesome video! Just bought a vintage magnatone Panaramic and stumbled across this gem. Thanks Sweetwater!
This is perfect timing. Thank you guys for this. Been working on fixing my sound. And it’s awesome to have someone who appreciates a gretsch.
Richard is a incredible man, love and respect !
That was a wonderful interview with Richard and his guitar. Thank you
At long last!! A hundred years in the making! A Gretsch that gives us access to ALL THE FRETS!!
Lol, They started that 5 years ago with the Broadkaster /6000 series. I know, cause that's why I decided to finally bite the bullet and buy a White Falcon. I could ACTUALLY justify buying one to play when the 6636tdc came out
Monster talent, the perfect hybrid of oldschool feel with the just the right amount of modern shred. A true natural. AND a gentleman.
Great musician, down to earth, another great interview🤘🤘🤘
I've bought two Gretsch because of this guy!
Didnt notice the tort binding, that's gorgeous on the black!
That opening guitar bit was sweet!
One small correction. Gretsch did make a Falcon with a center block some years back. It's called the G6139T-CB.
What an amazing sounding and looking instrument! Congrats Gretsch
Awesome! I’m a big fan of all he does. Great guitarist, writer and producer in no particular order. I also require a rig that I can hit different levels with the guitars volume control. I’m gonna have to put the guitar and amp on my list.
God Richard Fortus is the best. I’m saving up for a Magnatone Twilighter and waiting to see him live in November
You will not be disappointed
I’ll second that! I just got one direct from Larry (Cragg) it’s to die for 🤷🏻♂️
That guitar sounds great ,I been wanting a semi hollow guitar for a very long time ,this would be a great choice, thanks Richard and thank u Mr. Mitch, another great video...🤘🤠
Any magnatone owner is a master of tone
Killer opening. Inspiring me to play my Gretsch more.
Great guitar player!
Malcom young enough said!!!! Ha quick comeback
Great guitar and awesome guitarist!
All these great new things are coming out after I've been forced into retirement!! This Gretsch guitar, the ZZ Top pedal. It's breaking my heart!
The irony of Axl ending with guy from STL in his band!
Mitch Gallagher, you're one of the best interviewers...thanks!
World Class!!!
Great!
Wow the guy still looks cool
link to PAF book
Richard is very proud that this guitar's tone goes along with Slash's because Slash a more of a mid sounding player. If that's the case, then how does this guitar sound on the mid range? Is it any good for soloing and lead?
One thing I've always wanted someone to ask Fortus: he talks here about shaping his sound around Slash's, so how's his sound evolved to work with all the other players in previous incarnations of GN'R? Slash sounds very different to Robin Finck, who in turn has a very different tone to Buckethead, who sounds different to Bumblefoot, and so on.
Can you share the treble bleed circuit in the audio taper master volume please?🙏
What are the names of the original pickups Richard Fortus used in his gretsch guitars without the center block? He used some type of pickups that aren't PAF, Filtertron or P90's
@8:19 "I use Arcane pickups..."
@@thisperfectworld Thanks I never heard of Arcane Pickups and what is so special about Arcane pickups in gretsch guitars
He can play circles around Slash... more versatile of a guitarist.
No point getting a supro now, have to instead get a magnatone now!
4tus🔥
Unique bending. Does one of those beauties in Guns n Roses “Better”
If Gretch would just sell the pickups and treble bleed circut as a kit by itself so I could switch out the humbuckers in my es335 clone. Or, if Gretch would just offer their other semihollow models with the rf pickups. Semihollows, like Es335s, have had serious tone issues since Gibson first put PAFs in them -- nobody since leo Fender voiced their amps for cleans through an es335. Unless you krank to Clapton cream days volumes on a Marshall, your es335 is going bark its head off with clean tones. (It must be nice to have studied business at Harvard having learned nothing but gimmicks and customer loyalty instead of analytics to study what potential customers really want.)
My favorite GnR guitarist!!
Boy I sure do wish I had a spare $8000 lying around...😢
By far the best guitar player in Guns n Roses
Covid tour sounds depressing
Man I’ve been wanting a Gretsch for a while and watching this didn’t help..
Spending some 5000 USD on a stereo amp that doesn't even accept stereo sources (all your stereo pedals) is too much money to freak out over.
he changes amp brands like underwear
This guy reminds me of one of those cocky sales people from Sam Ash in the 80’s.
I thought the heavy sounds were horrible. just bad youtube sound I guess.
just found out 5 mins ago about this polite well heeled man. He looks like he'd eat my babies, but he'd be awfully polite asking for more... Great tone in his guitar sound. I love that every day someone new , to me anyway, someone new comes along... thanks for this vid... peace out
Phenom?? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Wow!!! I'm lovin' this!! The Joe Walsh intro......man!!!... Yeah!! Thanks for this interview!!
