Distribution of Rice and Other Government Assistance in Roxas City, Capiz (Speech) 9/6/2023

In continuation of the Administration’s measures to strengthen food security and address the gaps in the agriculture sector, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. distributes a thousand sacks of premium rice to the beneficiaries of the Department of Social Welfare and Development's (DSWD) Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) under Level 1 (survival) and Level 2 (subsistence) at the Capiz Gymnasium in Roxas City, Capiz on October 6, 2023.
These sacks of rice are still a portion of the 42,180 smuggled sacks worth PhP42 million that the Bureau of Customs - Port of Zamboanga (BOC-POZ) confiscated during its warehouse search in Barangay San Jose Gusu, Zamboanga City last September 15. The DSWD received the forfeited sacks for distribution.
President Marcos Jr. has recently announced the lifting of the price ceiling on regular milled and well-milled rice, underscoring that the move is timely as the government continues to carry out programs to protect the poor and most vulnerable.
During the program, the Chief Executive also leads the turnover of various government assistance from the DSWD, Department of Agriculture (DA), Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA), Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC), Agricultural Training Institute (ATI), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Department of Health (DOH), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and Commission on Higher Education (CHED).
