    In the beginning half of this video, I was thinking that you are both so amazing-so persistent and patient…so was glad to see your chapter on persistence & patience! :) You have done so much. Congratulations on moving in (and to the baby birds on moving out)!

    You can also add a temperature sensor alarm that will let you know if temperatures under the yurt with the pipes drops to low to prevent freezing the pipes.

    Hooraaay!! Congratulations on the big move!! Oh my goodness, such a lot of vocal concern expressed when you turned the girls loose 😄!! It looks like they settled right in tho 🥰👍. I have so enjoyed watching along on this whole process. You've done such a lovely job. Charles deserves an enormous praise for all his skillful craftmanship and such complete dedication to doing things "above and beyond". WELL DONE!!!
    👏🎉🤗🏅🏆🥳!!!
    It's wonderful to see the baby birds fledging. The fern bed really does provide great shelter for the low nesters. You're in such a great place to be able to create a wildlife haven. I can't wait to see all that's ahead with new outdoor projects.
    I've been thinking of you guys lately with the aftermath of hurricane Beryl moving thru. Did you get a lot of rain? We got some, which helped ease our drought situation just a bit but sure could have used more.
    Have a lovely week and enjoy your new home!! 🥰🌿♥️

      Thanks for reminding us to put the camera on "the girls" on moving day! We did get some rain, but no flooding in this part of the state (lucky for us). Take care :)

    I would think you would insulate like I did as a woman my pipes under my mobile home in Michigan , with Electric tape to keep them from freezing . plug in for the winters and unplug for the summer .

      Yes, heat tape is part of the plan! It will even be connected to the temperature sensors on that leak detection system we tested at the end. :)

    Recently headed to VT to visit family and my two inside cats travel well and tolerate my travel trailer, but this time brought my "inside/outside" cat for the first time and he was very upset the first couple days in the camper, but finally got acclimated and settled down for the rest of the vacation. Kind of like your two, there was a lot of hiding and meowing!

    Great video! I'm a little claustrophobic myself. Would not have been much help under there.

      I was sure I was going to bonk my head or stub my toe or worse while trying to get a picture. Luckily everyone emerged unscathed.

    I love watching your channel. My one comment is that this yurt set up seems like a long-term temporary solution for shelter. Where do you and Charles see yourself in 10 years?
    I live in Massachusetts and I'm trying to find a place to buy. And we know that is impossible to find at a reasonable price. I've thought about yurts but I'm not sure if they would last.

      Thanks Laurence! We are trying to take it slow on the property so we're not quite sure how long we will be in the yurt... Originally wanted to build an Earthship but the landscape was ill-suited (bedrock; no soil to build with). We may build another structure like a garage/shop with an apartment (partly to be able to get homeowner's insurance, which is basically impossible with a yurt). Stay tuned! But the yurt will probably last longer than you think (the warranty on the heavy duty vinyl roof is 15 years, and the exterior roof / siding can be replaced pretty easily).

    Well that's unusual - Americans with an electric jug to boil the water. Must be enabled by the solar power fitment yes? Much more efficient wouldn't you say?

    • @OvertheRiverandThroughtheWoods
      @OvertheRiverandThroughtheWoods  Месяц назад

      We actually measured it, and yes it takes half as much energy compared to a pot on the induction cooktop (2% of our RV battery vs. 4%). Where do you live, and what do you use to boil water? :)

    I'm just wondering after I just see this, what is a Yurt? Some kinda round hay or corn container?

    • @OvertheRiverandThroughtheWoods
      @OvertheRiverandThroughtheWoods  Месяц назад

      It's a modern version of a Mongolian tent. Ours is a from a Pacific Yurt kit, with a vinyl roof and walls. Check out what it looked like when we first put it up... ruclips.net/video/PlFc_FnDTJo/видео.html
