I just recently got a Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE non ARGB. It's doing a great job of cooling my Ryzen 5900X. It idles at about 39c and under full load gets about 68c.

I just got this for my new build, was told its amazing for the value alone
it is!used an esports duo 34 for years, bought 5800x in january! it killed a cheap 240mm aio before I got the proper pbo settings!the duo had 80-85 degrees celsius on workload with premiere pro!with this cooler its under 60 degrees over 27 minutes 4k video rendering!

@@MIKEYZVLOGZ My case is not a visible showcase so I have no issues setting the fan up slightly to clear the RAM.

Thanks for the video and comments. If you have splitter with 3 and 4 you can plug fan power in just fine. I was stuck on this 😂
ye whether ur fan pwm connector is 3pin or 4pi n the tab still lines up so u can still plug it in and it's suppose to be like that
You can always lower the fan in the middle, to help cool parts of the motherboard

Good to know in advance that using the optimal configuration covers ram. Obviously any rgb lighting will still spill out but considering it's pretty much covered fully from the front makes me think I wouldn't be missing much going non rgb ram (theyll save me a few dollars too)
yep u got it, so u understand why I did the other config? some ppl dont, but your right if your not going for rgb ram it wont matter , but some ppl still want it all showing, guess it just depends on the person

I'm building my first PC with this cooler next week so I appreciate this video a lot. I'm going to install the fan over the RAM first and see temps, then try it in the back and check them again. If there's no major difference I'll probably leave it in the back. Also, is it okay if the fan touches the RAM directly or should I leave some clearance?
Leave some clearance ..very small... just lift it 1 or 2 mm above the ram
So let us know? Was there a difference in temp moving the fan to the back?
Bumping this to see if there was a difference having the fan at the back. Trying to decide if I get rgb DDR5s or not.

Hi. Thank you for the video. I am willing to buy this cooler but I know I'll have the same issue with the memories as I also use XPGs D41. Do you know how much does the fan go up? I have a clearance of about 170mm inside the case, per the manufacturer and the PA120 is 157mm tall. I still consider using it 1 fan only but not the best option. Thank you in advance.
actually buddy ur gonna be OK... as u can just raise the fans higher to clear it ... at the time of filming this I wanted the fans flush to the tower fins but after a long hard think it really isn't that bad to just raise them abit higher and make sure you raise both to match dame height and it will look great..and honestly price to performance there really isn't anything like it ... however also consider the phantom spirit apparently it performs abit better and exact same design honestly

I don’t have the 5v3 ARGB pin at 7:35, I assume it didn’t come with peerless assassin since I didn’t get one. So would I have to buy a separate one?
If you move the fans to the pull-pull configuration to show my RAMs like you suggested, you can also reverse the orientation of the clips so that both fans are clipped on to the towers in front of them, so they pull air out of both towers more effectively. This seems kinda obvious but I hadn't thought of it until after the build was complete 😅
that's true bud.. 👍 however as another guy suggested push is always better ..its true.. however try it and let me.know what u think ..does it really make alot of noise? as someone else suggested ..I havent paid very close attention to hoe much noise it makes.. I personally thought it wasn't a big deal..but I could be wrong..plus u can always lower fan speeds ..its because the fan blades are closer to the find meaning more sound etc.. what do u think?..I still gotta test this

On the splitter there is one three prong connector and one four prong
that's ok u can still use it ... as long as the fans can plug in which they will
The Thermalright Phantom Spirit (4X8mm heat pipes, 140mm, 120mm fans) and Frost Spirit (7X6mm heat pipes, 2X120mm fans) are both much better than the Peerless Assassin for the same money. Thermalright has so many similar coolers that all look alike but, perform differently.
Do youu need to plug in the leds to the motherboard ?
leads as in fan cables? yes or else i are nor powering the fans and they won't work ... also it has 5v3pin argb cables too so u must plug them into mobo as well...unless u have an adapter but there's no point unless ur mobo doesn't have the right ports
aye man, was wondering if you know if the corsair vengeance pro rgb will have any issues if I just put the second fan on the left side like you did? I shouldnt right bc no fan is covering the ram
yes correct no issues with that.. u won't have any issues...well to be fair u might just hear abit more fan noise due to the setup of the fan blades being closer creates like turbulence so to speak ... hence the noise level increases ..but u can fix this by lower fan speed too..just something to mention

i bought this cooler for build motherboard is ASRock B550 Phantom Gaming 4 and cant fit my other ram the fixer guy i went to said the ram is intel type thats why it wont fit is there such a thing im new to pc ?
if u have a b550 mobo it's used ddr4 ram... there's no such thing..as long as your RAM is ddr4 it should fit... u just need to lift your fans higher wen installing them and it will clear the ram ...I'm not sure who u went to but doesn't sound right..what is your actual ram brand and model

What do u mean. Aren't u using the fans that came with the cooler
It's okay to plug the 3 pin into the 4 pin slot. Just make sure the key mechanism slides in

both ..one is for fan power and the other is for rgbb

Holy shit bro i have been trying to figure this out for over a week. I didnt know about the daisy chain thing so that was helpful, the problem was i didnt see the switch on my mobo labled "Led_switch" my god im retarded.

i had a big enough panic attack changing my power supply i was going to fit a new cooler but after seeing i have to remove the mother board id end up having a heart attack
lol I feel ya..depending on your case ..u don't have to remove the mobo. if u have enough room to install the backplate u can do it without removing the mobo.. just depends

@hectormartinez7002 it's ok if u use gigabyte u use rgb fusion if u use asus ..u use armoury crate..and so on... with the software u can turn off..but if u don't want rgb just buy with no rgb..or use black fans
As others have said you can use your motherboard software to turn it off but you can also simply not plug in the rgb connectors. Just bundle them up and feed them to the back of your case behind the motherboard to get them out of the way.
