I'd like to point out that when installing this cooler, your motherboard may have 2 ports, "CPU Fan" and "CPU Opt". CPU Opt is where you can connect the second fan to instead of daisy chaining the 2 fans into one port. This is completely optional, however, it's something worth noting depending on what you're using the computer for.
@@pip5528 Does that make a big difference? My case has 4 fans and my MOBO has 5 headers so I figured I'd just use the splitter that comes with the fan so I don't have to buy an extra splitter to fit all 6
@@NorthernVikingEverydayDid you realize after you made the video that you clipped on the first fan somewhat incorrectly which resulted in some of the lamellae getting bent? It's clearly visible in the video and not present on the front fan.
Installed this earlier on my am4 mobo and it was super simple and easy to do. I’ve never dealt with those fan clips before so I came to this video and once again it was super simple and took me no time at all.
Great guide for AM4 users! I’m using a Phantom Spirit, and it was similar enough I could follow your video. You answer so many questions the instructions didn’t address, like what direction the fans were blowing. This fan is a beast and was a needed upgrade for me after switching to a AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D. I went from 90°C in OCCT on my Cooler Master T2 to 64°C with this Phantom Spirit. Using an Asrock B450 Pro4.
You're doing God's work here! I was too stupid to understand those clips and the manual days exactly nothing on how to install them, so thanks a million! 🤗
This is exactly what I dug up this video for - was going fine by myself until I hit the clips, and I could NOT figure out what to do, the instructions were no help. I have watched that part of it probably six times to make sure I'm doing everything right.
great video and easy to follow along for a beginner like me! I got a little disheartened when I noticed that the right hand fan bumped into my ram but once you had the same "issue" and said it would be fine it took a weight of my shoulder lol
You are fantastic, your voice is nice and clear (and kind of asmr quality tbh) and you seem like a fun friendly guy. Excellent tutorial, I was worried when I read reviews of the cooler that it was a pain in the ass but you made it possible in like 5 minutes. ❤
Came here trying to figure out which side to mount the fans on. Looks like it's front and middle DIMM side, not middle and back. You also helped me understand how the clips work. Thank you.
Watched this on my phone and installed Peerless Assassin flawlessly as my first CPU cooler change ever! Great help appreciated, especially on those confusing fan clips :(( Thank you for your wonderful tutorial video.

Thanks! Helping a friend build his first proper gaming PC later today and was curious about how this was installed. Never messed with a cooler this size before.
Having the 2 screws on top and bottom is MUCH better than having them either side. The top screw prevents the heavy cooler from sagging which happens with 2 side screws all the time.
Thanks for the video, you forgot to mention that you don't need the splitter cable, you can just connect second fan into the CPU OPT connection on the motherboard.
Thann man! This was a very clear and informative video. I feel like you answered a lot questions people might have and your video helped me not have anxiety about cpu cooler installation!
I wasnt sure what to do with direction until i noticed rubber pads and your video helped. Its possible to get those clips in without bending the heatsink fins, just slide up or down a c'hair at a time until it goes in perfect!
Hello, in some reviews of this cooler, I found that some people put a piece of iron on the motherboard directly behind the processor in order to connect with the two pieces of iron next to the processor that you installed on the plastic pieces. So my question is, do I have to put that piece of iron at the back or do I not need it? So ? By the way, my motherboard is Asrock B550M Steel Legend. I will be really happy with your answer
Thank you very much! The only down side I saw in all this was that you would have to pull up the 1 fan placed by the side to access the RAM but consider its only being held be brackets. It's still easy to work around.
This guide helped me install my Peerless Assassin 120. Very detailed and thoughtful; Thank you very much! It was actually much easier than anticipated 😅
Thank you for this! I'm doing my first PC build and was confused on the fan orientation since there is no directional logos. :) But you've cleared that out for me. Cheers!
The cooler doesn't interfere with the RAM, does it? I'm going to buy that same motherboard and cooler, but I couldn't see clearly if the RAM fits well.
Which side is the correct waybto install the block? You can see that the pipes are little bit offset on one side, more space on top of the motherboard in your case. In a case of SSD coolers would it fit?
"The Peerless Assassin 120 came with a splitter and one of the ends looks like it's missing a pin. Is this normal or should I contact Amazon/Thermal right?" That's intentional. Pin 3 is the tach, it's a signal from the fan to the motherboard/controller to say how fast the fan is going. Multiple signals from multiple fans would confuse it and could even damage it.
Is there a way I can check if there will be enough clearance between my ram and the processor? I was thinking of getting this one but I'm worried my ram (Corsair vengeance ddr4) will not allow it to fit. So I was going to go with a thermaltake assassin spirit 120 evo or gamdias boreas. My motherboard is the asrock b450m steel legend
If you need the back plate to remain attached (if you're upgrading and don't want to remove the motherboard from the case), wouldn't it be better to remove/replace one bracket at a time, so one bracket is always attached and the backplate can't fall off. Just a suggestion. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for the vid, I watched this after installing the color because it didn't seem right and realized I put the brackets on the wrong sides so the heatsink was hitting my ram and I/o lol. Luckily caught the mistake while everything was out of the case
Thanx man quick question. Does the direction of the fans matter? I dont mean the logo side, but their placement in terms of the sink. So for example if you have put the outer fan on the other side on top of the VRMs instead of on top of the RAM like you did, will there be any difference?
Hi! I have this motherboard and i do have RGB ram, do you think the fans could go in other locations to keep the ram visible? like middle and back side? Thanks for the helpful video!
I have fans in the back that pull out the hot air, and fans in the top of the case that pull out the air. Wouldn't it make more sense in that case to mount the fans so that they're both on the outside of the heat sink blowing away from the heatsink, instead of creating a hot air train?
Imagine you have hot food in a plate, you could bring your face up to it and try to suck the air away to cool it, but it would be much more effective at blowing cooler air directly at the food. The food in this instance is the cooler fins. I do think you could potentially do a 3 fan setup, one in the front, one in the middle and one in the back.
Is it possible to use one fan on the cooler and the 2nd as the read exhaust attached to the case instead of the cooler ? And if possible in what position the other fan should be on the cooler ?
The bracket for the LG 1700 setup. Does that replace the bracket already on the motherboard? Or are you saying it is to be mounted on top of the original motherboard bracket? Thanks
