Just the video that I needed. Thermalright's guide was ridiculously inadequate.
Yea for real
No
Just unacceptable.
Such a nice and helpful video. I'm doing my first build since like 10 years ago and this video talks to me, the pacing, the fact that you're just doing it and not setting a show like the average RUclipsr these days. Keep it real like this man. Thanks!
Nice video, thanks for sharing. I just ordered it and now I'm more confident on how to install it.
Thank you for the comment... It should go rather smoothly...
this has big midwest dad energy, thank you very much for the helpful explanations and step by step instructions, really helped with the anxiety of a first time pc builder
Thanks for this! Super helpful and easy to follow along. Much appreciated!!
great video, amazing guide to set it up with proper care
for me, i had to raise the fans slightly due to my DDR5 height ( corsair vengeance) , still logs very smooth.
back to finishing this build !!
thanks
Thanks for your video.
As an upgrade novice, I just fitted the Evo as a retro fit. Problem was lack of wiggle room so having installed the fins and fans, it was impossible to plug the harness into the MB. Result, had to remove fans, remove the fin assembly, re clean the chip and fin base, then first, attach the cable to the MB and stick it all back on.
One other point, I found orientating the cooler through 180 so the bit that sticks out was towards the GPU (RTX4070) meant I had more room to fit the fan clips.
I watched 20 or so videos before attempting this,,reckon yours was the most comprehensive but there's definitely a need for someone to show that a retro fit is different from a new build.
The wires won't burn up sitting under the heat sinks like that?
Very helpful video. 👍
Glad it was helpful!
Hey thanks for the vid. Given that the 7000 series generate more heat on the bottom end, do you think its actually better to sacrifice the gpu clearance for better cooling? I mean, the side with 4 heat pipes is the side that sticks out more, so putting this on the bottom would theoretically give you better thermals, but would be giving you very little gpu clearance.
Thanks for the guide!
Hopefully it ll fit in my rig
Thanks dude, well explained! :)
useful tutorial, thx
Thank you for the video! I am upgrading my CPU fan on my AM5 chipset and I was wondering if I have to take out the motherboard from the case to install this cooler? It seems like I don't since it uses the same backplate, but I'm new to PC building...
9:44 Does the heatsink get in the way of that bottom middle mobo mounting screw? my screwdriver isn't very long 😅
Thank you.
Can G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo fit?
7:28 rip
The top plates on the top of the fins (the black flat plates that say thermalright on them) have a little wiggle in them, like they are a little loose. Is this going to cause a rattle when the fans are running or is that normal?
Lovely video. Important question: How easy is it to take off that fan so I can add more ram in the future? I am building my PC Tuesday, and will be getting another 64gb ram as a Christmas gift. Would love to make sure I can install additional ram with little struggle
just remove the fan covering the ram slots.
Just remove one fan lol
Is this the same for the 120 evo
Can you put the fansin pull mode but put one on the back side so that the ram slots are comletely clear for tall heat sinks?
Actually i bought my own thermal paste thinking im not gonna get thermal paste from thermalright
So i got some noctua thermal paste
Would a Thermalright PS120 SE be good enough for a 7950x? I belive my msi aio is starting to get clogged and I wanted to use one of these instead.
Yes, the Phantom Spirit is one of the best air coolers and will work fine all the way up to the 7950x.
Its sufficient for 7950x, but make sure you don't use rotate it as shown in this video, because the CCD (heat generating chiplets) are towards to GPU end, so you need more of the heatpipes covering that portion of the CPU lid.
@@rapamune so we should rotate it 180 degrees from where he finally places it in the video?
size of your RAM´s please
Video quality isn't the best, but it looks like he may be using the G.Skill Flare X5 RAM which has a low profile height of 33mm, but hard to tell for sure...
Nice
That paste they ship with it is awful. It's like solid mass in a tube.
