450BM guy here...the critical factor for reliable feeding in these cartridges (esp. 450BM) is to adjust the mag feed lips so that the nose of the top bullet is sitting just ever so slightly "nose up" in the mag, when viewed from the side. The half-moon cutout at the front is usually needed, also.
@@buffalosoutdoors its out of jealousy. Its obvious you always put a lot of time and energy testing these products. You see the videos that are paid by sponsors. Lmao. They are fun to watch as well. Cartoons for grown ups I guess. Again, thanks for the great videos man.
This was helpful. I bought two Duramag Stainless 556 mags and i suspect expect i will need to use my Dremel similar to what was done here. The mags I got are already steel, so the plan is to remove some material on the feeder lip and potentially buff a few other parts of the mag. This is generally required, so 50 cal bullet doesn’t get caught up on the feeder lip. I use Duramag for my 6.5 Grendel and 762x39 and they are just top notch. I didn’t have to modify either of these mags.
I use the 10 round 5.56 Lancer mags. I simply grind the original "hump" off the floor plate, grind out the U shape at the top front, cut 2 coils off the bottom of the spring, and cut down the plastic floor plate stopper and some of the tab that hangs down from under the floor plate. Easily holds 5 rounds. I also use 10 round P Mags. Those take a little more work (heating the feed lips and bending them inward a bit, grinding out the inside rib that runs up and down the front...) and also hold 5 450bm. I also use the 30 round Hexmags. I have to cut two thin wedges out of them to make them more straight instead of curved, and epoxy them back together. Those hold and feed 13 rounds of 450 bm.
Buffalo, you’re the reason I went with the BCA .450 Bushmaster Upper. I have had Feeding issues. Narrowed it down to the Magazines. I did buy one of the Lancer 10 round mags, I just haven’t taken it to the range yet. I hope that solves my feeding issues. Thanks for the videos!
I have lancer and GI mags for my .458. Used the dremel on the lancers and did a complete feed ramp polish and replaced my bolt with a Tromix. Still having feed issues. The only thing I can think that might help is maybe changing the followers in the mags? Sometimes my bolt will miss a round and others it will pick up a round and won’t close all the way into the chamber like the round below it get caught.
Thank you for this video. Just ordered a BCA 10.5” .450 Bushmaster Upper and now I know what mag setup to get! Thanks a lot! And also, if you don’t have a table like the one in the video then I can’t trust you haha.
If you modify the AR 30round by dremmeling the cone in front & sanding down the plastic follower flat .458 will run like a dream & you’re not limited to 7 rounds you’ll have 11 in a pmag or Gov issue steelies
Bear creek is underrated. I got the .45O bushmaster, .50 Beowulf, 300 blackout, and a 7.62x39 all have run almost flawlessly with a minimal of 50 rounds or more through the barrel. Had a few feeding issues with my .450 but put a heavier feeder spring in and modified the mag and works great. That made my Beowulf shoot great brand new out of the box. It’s preferred if you clean the rifle out of the box which I usually do but didn’t with the .50 beo and it still shot great. You have doubts about bear creek budget uppers. At least give them a try if it’s a dud or manufacture fault they back it up with a lifetime warranty. I don’t know about you but I rather put some of my designated money into the ammo and optics.
Amend 2 magazines work great. Just grind down the follower flat and the front feed area and they work awesome. Don't bother with the Pmags unless your using very short rounds otherwise the inside front groove will bind on the bullet tip.
Just got my .450 bushmaster together, (all I run is lancer mags) like buffalo says buy 20rd lancer mags change to heavier follower and shoot safe!!! If you are gonna use 30 rds lancer mags I strongly recommend no more than 9 you'll start to have feeding issues!!
With my BCA 450 upper, the duramag 7 round mags have ran fantastic for me. It feeds and cycles smoother than a 5.56. The duramags have some extra geometry inside, so they won't function with 5.56, just as a heads up if someone is concerned with multi-caliber use.

Did you get this resolved? Does the magazine actually ride higher in the receiver or is it just the 450 rounds are higher? If it's the magazine, possibly a bad run of mags with the latch cutout being too low on the magazine body. If the rounds are whats sitting high, is the magazine for 458 socom? I've read some could have the feed lips a little too far apart to hold the 450 down enough
I use the 30 round lancers and only load 7 rounds in a mag. Sometimes the first round will pitch up and snag if the bolt is already locked back and I slam a new mag but that has been my only issue. I don’t even mod the followers at all.

You're welcome!
Great video.
Thank you.
Now that I’ve waited and waited..AND WAITED. It’s time. Windham weaponry.450. So my question is…,will I be able to use a 20 or 30 rd mag after changing the follower and have no cycle issues ? Everyone seems to say different things and have different opinions. I need this tool !!!
Whats your opinion on 7.62x39 ar
I have a really nice 7.62x39 AR. You have to 1) run Duramag mags 2) run a heavier buffer spring and 3) run a H2 or a H3 buffer for it to function properly. I just saved you a ton of time and money.
Great stuff brother :-)
Thanks!
which follower did you suggest?
Tromix
@@buffalosoutdoors thank you!
What you don't do mag dumps at what I assume is almost 2 bucks a round.
I save those mag dumps for the .22 lr.... LOL I guess I'm just not "cool".
I run factory mags in my 450. Got yhem on sell for 17.80 a mag.
Very helpful thank you
Glad to help!
Get information thank you
i think i will trust buffalo! 😁
Thanks for the comment!
Your word is all I need.
Thanks man!
Yup the Lancer is great nothing else works well!!!
What about AA magazine and Polymer80 Magazine AR-15 50 Beowulf 10-Round Polymer
Anyone try these?
Yes ,I have 2 polymer 80 mags I got from midway.....all I will say ,they'll be used for target practice next time. 👍
Thank you for your input. You have great videos.
Thanks!
Good info
God Love You.......
Thank you.
Buffalo, do you know if anyone makes a 243 upper for a AR lower.
I never thought of that. Now I'm gonna be keeping my eyes out for one!
243 case is a necked down 308. The case is to long for an AR15. It would work for an AR10 rifle however.
Looks like Anthony beat me to it. They do make .243 uppers but they are for the larger AR-10.
@@buffalosoutdoors Thanks man..
@@hilltop-ob9bn Thanks man!
I have *The* important question. Being totally honest, if you had to pick one of those three calibers, which one would you pick and why? Remember it's just a goofy hypothetical but you have to name just one.
That said, it's pretty cool that you don't have to pick. I was just wondering. Take it easy man. *:-)*
If I could only have one it would have to be the..... well it honestly hurts to answer that.... IDK I have too look at it like "which 2 would I give up"...lol Look at it like this, I bought the .450 Bushmaster first. I could have bought any of them but I bought the .450. That tells me that I must have wanted it more.
@@buffalosoutdoors Makes sense to me man. *:)*
That was much harder to answer than it should have been... lol
I love your content but this is such a niche video that I regret watching. Add it onto a video of one (or all) of the calibers.
This was not click bait. The title clearly states what is contained in the video. Yet you watched it anyway only to complain about it. Seriously, just unsubscribe.
Jesus Christ dude your accent....
Jesus doesn't care about accents "dude".
Buffalo's Outdoors amazing accent man
