Don't have a 450 Bushmaster, but if I did I wasn't aware you could change the follower. Would have spent
the money and regretted it later after seeing this video. Thanks for making people aware of this :-))
Everybody likes to save money. Thanks for watching brother 🇺🇸 👊 👍
Great googly moogly those 450's are chunky little monkeys. I don't know if I'll ever go that direction but I will be watching the series for sure. I always enjoy and learn something too. Thanks DR!
Ha, yeah these are quite chunky, indeed! Just like the 350L, I have no actual use for this cartridge or hunting laws pointing me this direction. It's just going to be for fun and seeing what kind of cast loads we can run out of it. I went with an 18 inch side charger this time. That way I can run it like a bolt action if using pistol powders or something like Trail Boss that doesn't generate enough gas to cycle the action. Should be here today of FedEx does their job properly🤣 Thanks Mark👊
Can agree Marc. I been think of a 450 bushmaster or a 350 L in bolt gun
Great video. We had to do the same thing.. love the 450 bushmaster
Thanks for watching brother! I didn't know you had a 450?
Thanks for the info
Yessir! 👍
Morning man!! I did same and also ordered mag from C- Products. Havent compared side by side. Follower only still had some feeding issues.
Your also gonna benefit relieving the front edge of the magazine in a "smile" shape. Case can bounce off un altered magazines. (450 is basically a straight case.) Not as critical for 458 SoComb.
Good morning! That was probably the next step, cutting the smile out of the front of the magazine. My 350legend mags have ran fine without that mod, but these 450s are a lot bigger and I'm sure a little more picky on their preferences. Either way, gonna see how they run before chopping away at it. Thanks👊
@@DummyRound The C Products mags came relieved that way! Yes 450 is bigger.
I didnt know ya was going this route. I have 2 450's a bolt and M$R. Bolt is rock solid and shoots lights out! (Ruger American Ranch) The M$R was a build with a Bear Creek Bbl.
We can talk powders and problems in txt.
Great video brother
Thank ya sir!
@@DummyRound 450 BM that’s going to be some goooooood content right there Sir
@@Johnny-jr2lq Because I didn't have enough projects going on at once, I went ahead and got into another cartridge, ha! Shoot me a text if you get a chance.
I used my .410 AR mags and they run flawlessly
That sounds like a fun toy!
will any .410 AR mags fit the Bear Creek .450 AR?
I should try it - I have an ATI 410 mag I could try it with🤔
Nice. I always wondered if there was any gadget for those other cartridges that utilize the AR magazine. My son and I changed out our followers for the Magpul anti-tilt ones. 2 magazines were having issues holding the bolt open...so we got out of hand and changed all magazine followers out, haha.
Hoping these followers will eliminate any possible issues. If we have the last round getting caught up I'll whip out the dremel and go for the ole smiley face mod. Some people don't have any issues with the standard 223 follower, but I'm trying to remove those variables before I run into them. I haven't had any problems with them in 223, but they might already all be the anti tilt style. Thanks brother 👊
@@DummyRound dremel is your friend. some odd ball magazines, we had to dremel a smidge off to get them to fit. Function well now.
Like CW said , will probably need the smile on the magazine also .
Yessir! Going to try without first but will probably end up doing it anyways. Happy Sunday👍
Big boi time!
Yeeehaw!
Great info. I am having trouble with the last round feeding from my Duramag magazines. Hangs up in the chamber mouth. Using a BCA 16" upper on my Sig lower. I just purchased a couple of ASC mags as that is what BCA recommends. I see from your ongoing comments that the original four mags are running strong. Did you ever remove any material from the front end of the mag and cut the smile opening? How many rounds have you had success loading in the 30 round GI mags. I am planning to use the 450 for deer and hogs and when the action gets fast and furious with hogs, the more rounds the better. Would love to see a follow up video with funtion test and reliability for those four original mags.
They're still running 100% with 7 rounds. There are no modifications other than the follower swap. I have some range videos from more recently running them. Eventually, I'll want to get a bolt gun and play with the cartridge more since the AR is a little more picky on feeding and cycling. Thanks👍🇺🇲
Very nice man
Thanks!
@@DummyRound no problem. Watching it while priming 300blk
Awesome, what load you doing?
Please let us know if you end up making any other mods to those STANAGs- Some folks find they need to Dremel out a relief at the front top (throat) of the mag to help with feeding. YMMV...
Yessir, will follow up on any other needed mods. I'm going to see how they run with only the follower swap, and whip out the dremel if needed after that. Thanks 👍
I need 10!! Website seems suspect but I need these
It's pretty low budget. I'm not affiliated with them but the ones I've ordered haven't had any issues so far.
Jus currious.... will the FXT bullets from Hornady work with this set up or should I stay with magPull mags and remove the center rib?
These military mags I can still pick up on the serious cheap.. I jus got a Bear Creek Arsenal 450BM complete upper..
Thanks for your time and considerations. Great video!!
Cheapo GI mags with the follower are perfect. I just did a recent range video last week 🇺🇸👍 Thanks!
Just picked up a BCA upper (rear charger) in 450, haven't been to the range yet with it though. How's yours running?
Check one of my most recent videos and a few shorts for a 450bm range day👌
Very well, to actually answer the question😄
Wonder what a full mag looks like. On mine the angle of the rounds change. Curious to know if that sump helps.
I'll report back with whatever happens! What kind of cast loads have you gotten to run for you so far? I only have a 200gr and 252gr SWC at this time, but looking for other options. Thank you my brother! 👊
@@DummyRound the Lee 452-300 cycle really well.
Awesome, going to grab that one when I can find a 2 cavity available. Have you ran with or without gas checks on those? I'm going to try some of the factory 250gr FTX to get a solid baseline of what is supposed to actually function.
@@DummyRound yes with gas checks is better though
Will 556 still feed with the big bore follower?
Maybe if you hold the first few down until it starts to double stack, otherwise they'll just shoot up the center. I have them color coded so I just know what color goes to what gun🇺🇲👍
How many rounds of 450 bushmaster will fit in these mags
8 to 10 depending on your springs and how hard you want to push
@@DummyRound Do they feed well with that many in it? I just built a .450 upper and need mags badly.
I have a 30 round mag and no gun to use it in☹️
Damn!
How many .450 rounds does it hold?
At least 8, maybe 10 depending on the springs
@@DummyRound Thank you. I have two old GI mags. I just need to find followers. I am looking up the ones you mentioned now.
My original 4 from this video are all running strong. I actually need to get a smaller 5 rounder that lets me shoot from the bench easier since the GI are so tall
Big buller
Yessir!
