Yoshi-P told him to make songs that were happy and upbeat, and Sokken really stepped out of his comfort zone here. I remember hearing that hes not one for making happy, upbeat songs like this. If this is true, I give him props for stepping out of his comfort zone and actually trying. I know he really tries to make songs and music that everybody would enjoy. And this was said by him in an interview with somebody. Or expressed by him. He truly tries hard, and it makes him very nervous that people will hate his music. However, perhaps making music like this is good for him because he gets feedback and can do things differently next time he's expected to make more music like this. I just wish people werent so hateful about it. Some of the critisicm is downright rude and isnt helpful at all. Just a bunch of insults.

@@CorruptedMaterial You're free to think anything about an expansion or anything at all. But why go and rain on someone's enjoyment just to be vitriolic ? That's the toxic part of it
I actually kinda am happy this was the ending theme, for one because it was so different to that of all the other expansions that were all very much in similiar style, so having this for the start of a new journey is fine, EXSPECIALLY at least for me because this expansion was not about the WoL really, like we were never before quite as much in a background support role as we were here for Wuk Lamat, so for me this was truely her Expansion and for her that theme kinda fits, with her ideology of happiness and also her more positive outlook on life and death Explanation for the Wuk Lamat thing: Normally even if expansion like stormblood with lyse had front and center characters it was always the WoL who had to defeat the big enemies, so it was alone the WoL and people supporting the WoL in some way that drove the main story In comparrison in dawntrail is that we never truely did anything meaningful without Wuk Lamat being front and center, like all the feats were her ideas and understanding the people or us supporting her, the fights she always was there even in the none trust trial and lastly we were quite often litterally told to stand aside and let her do what only she as the leader should do, which for me is fine simply because power scaling wise the wol is a monster for the writers i guess exspecially if you want to start the next arc in a way where you do not want to have our enemy and the stakes be something that power wise is stronger than despair personafied, sonce staring slower lets you build up a story once again BUT i also understand if people are kinda dissapointed with the player taking such a beackseat in comparrison to pretty much all the other expansions and did not enjoy being forced to be the support this time since it is a self insert MMO which normally does put the players in the main active roles
This is the first expansion that WoL become a mentor, real mentor to Wuk Lamat. We already beat the cosmic side enemy, this is our time to take part as mentor.

I dont really get the hate for this song. I dig it. To me it represents the heart of FFXIV as a whole and made me feel a lot and the train scene was fun. It's not flow but it never promised to be. @@concentratedregret6394 It was a scene about multiple walks of people coming together to work towards their salvation I don't get how it is that bad of a whiplash
I know a lot of people are torn on this, but I think the OST fits. The not so subtle message of the final zone (at least to me) is about letting go of the past and learning to move on/how it's okay to let go, and this song invokes the imagery of a "new day" or a rising sun, which fits into that perfectly. That, and the imagery also doubles as an "and now that this storm has passed, we can look forward to the future (next patches)."
@@KanemiX3 that's one of my biggest gripes with it. It feels like it's diminishing the message we just learned, makes light of their importance, and completely disregards the sanctity of the messages we were learning especially when it comes to loss and being able to move on knowing that the only memory you have of that is with you and that's why it's precious.
@@KanemiX3 probably an unpopular take, but while DT definitely retread familiar ground, imo, it gaps END in the end because there was actually loss and consequence on the part of our party. I always hated how the Scions dying was this big fake out "lol JK they were alive and now they're praying for your success!" It felt like them taking a cheap emotional blow where they could w/o committing to it because losing Yshtola would deal a devastating blow to Square or smth.
The main vocals are a little weird but besides that I don't get the hate for the song at all. Everyone just says "its a Disney movie song" but I don't get why that's bad. I think FF players just expect every main expac vocal theme to be a sad aria like Flow or Dragonsong.
This song felt really weird at first but the more I listen to it the more it grows on me. Not sold for the choice during the msq, still feels not deserved? A bit not fitting? Gonna replay it soon and see how it feels again.
I like that the music direction was wildly different and I feel this tune growing on me, but I will admit, coming off the coattails of EW, I will say I was hoping from something a bit different. That being said the expansion makes up for it with some other great tracks.
This theme was SO unexpected and I was obsessed from the moment I first heard it midway through msq. The music has consistently just gotten better and better every expansion. Soken is absolutely brilliant!
Theres a part of me that hopes we get a more combat-oriented version of this(Like Flow into Flow Together), during some sort of battle where positive Dynamis is overflowing from us and our allies, or maybe a friendly battle with Wuk Lamat, Koana, and Bakool Ja Ja
Honestly, the real problem with the song are the vocals. They're too disney and gospel like. Just the melody with a more mellow set of vocals would have worked much better.
People mean to this expansion while they forget that THIS is a build-up story expansion after the long and depressed and hopeful 5 saga expansions end. Please, you cannot top the Endwalker-saga with just one expansion.
No sorry. Anyone who makes this argument is incredibly off base or doesnt understand what good writing entails. It has absolutely nothing to do with "build up". Taken as an isolated narrative, it was incredibly weak. Do the same with HW or ShB for example and the same is entirely untrue. Stakes do not make or break a story, you can absolutely write a great story with new characters, locations and events, etc etc. This was not it. Not by a long shot. Regardless of what future stuff they are "setting up"
@@Exeeter1234 You have NO idea what good writing is. Building up a plot is LITERALLY an integral part of any good story, without exception. Sadly, although I respect everyone’s opinion on this, I can’t get behind it. The chorus is jarring, the pace sounds like they tried to make it like Moana’s ‘How Far I Go’ without sounding like it. It’s a P to the U for me.
The sturcture of the music is fantastic especially the harmony part, but I feel like the singer's tone is kind of sharp and tight(and a bit disorder) whenever she's soloing like does she the same singer from SHB and EW I just kind of feel like the quality doesnt match with the pre credit themes

Dawntrail MSQ defenders will try to claim this song is perfect and was not comically out of place whatsoever in any of the scenes it played in, or try to claim it being comically out of place was the point all along because this is supposed to be the fun vacation expansion.

@@Sassjor It's not the genre that's out of place. It's the tone. A bunch of people working together to strap wood to a train does not warrant some Lion King type music. It was out of place for the scene, as I specified in my comment, not just the game in general.

Standing tall, we'll face tomorrow hand in hand (Mine in yours, and yours in mine)
We remember, through the war, through everything (This our tale, our tapestry)
Never losing sight of everyone I met (No matter what, we're gonna be[?])
In lightning's wake, did naught but ash remain
Stay with the rain, the sun will ring again
Our wish and father[?] still beyond the grace
It carries on, we will carry on.
So fly along the rainbow sea (We remember who we'll be)
Alive with everything it reaches (Love and peace and harmony)
We walk a never ending trail (May your heart find happiness)
Our love, our wish will never pale (This is your inheritance)
Just imagine what's around the bend? (Magic, or mischief? Gods forfend)
Endless marvels, myst'ries, newfound friends
(Wilder than wildest dreams portend.)
Tight, seize the day and hold on tight. The sun is rising.

Fly, ever forward stary eyed... ohhh, yeah...

Had some trouble with the vocals at the start, felt the singer was kinda struggling ? But it's growing on me tbh. Not as good as the two previous ones, but nice nonetheless.
It's really whiny, idk why they thought that'd be necessary. It might be the whiniest lead vocals in existence, odd choice. And oddly mixed. The choir sounds like they're a room over meanwhile the lead has the mic down her throat. Maybe the theme is stepping out of your comfort zone
Because that's definitely what happened here with the creation of this track lol
It’s the lady who sang Scream in Pandemonium, AKINO from Bless4. She sings really well so I’m not sure how they managed to get her to mangle this song let alone think this was acceptable for a final take.

I can completely get being surprised by the track, because it is very different to what we've had in the past, but for me it wasn't in a bad way, and I have found myself liking it more and more as i go 😊
I also loved the train montage 😆
The expansion about understanding, respect and community ends with an uplifting, hopeful chorus song. Perfect.

I wonder if the backing vocals are voice synths? Cuz they don’t seem to have the cohesion of a live vocalist
I wasn't a fan at first but I've warmed up to it a lot after a few listens
This upload is missing the last few minutes though for some reason, which are actually my favorite part
I dont remember where I heard this, I think it was during one of the fanfests or something, but I remember hearing about Sokken being very nervous about some of the songs this expansion.
Just a bunch of insults.
he has had made upbeat song like this before and they have all worked out very well. This one just happened to be not one of them unfortunate. In his defense he was overworked with XVI so he definitely having a burned out.
I'd say at least the bangers in the rest of the soundtrack more than make up for this weirdness of a song

I actually really enjoyed this song, thought it fit Dawntrail really well
Good thing i always skip Credits so i didn't have to listen to this.
This has to be the worst song in the game, what were they thinking.
I actually kinda am happy this was the ending theme, for one because it was so different to that of all the other expansions that were all very much in similiar style, so having this for the start of a new journey is fine, EXSPECIALLY at least for me because this expansion was not about the WoL really, like we were never before quite as much in a background support role as we were here for Wuk Lamat, so for me this was truely her Expansion and for her that theme kinda fits, with her ideology of happiness and also her more positive outlook on life and death
Explanation for the Wuk Lamat thing:
Normally even if expansion like stormblood with lyse had front and center characters it was always the WoL who had to defeat the big enemies, so it was alone the WoL and people supporting the WoL in some way that drove the main story
In comparrison in dawntrail is that we never truely did anything meaningful without Wuk Lamat being front and center, like all the feats were her ideas and understanding the people or us supporting her, the fights she always was there even in the none trust trial and lastly we were quite often litterally told to stand aside and let her do what only she as the leader should do, which for me is fine simply because power scaling wise the wol is a monster for the writers i guess exspecially if you want to start the next arc in a way where you do not want to have our enemy and the stakes be something that power wise is stronger than despair personafied, sonce staring slower lets you build up a story once again
BUT i also understand if people are kinda dissapointed with the player taking such a beackseat in comparrison to pretty much all the other expansions and did not enjoy being forced to be the support this time since it is a self insert MMO which normally does put the players in the main active roles
This is the first expansion that WoL become a mentor, real mentor to Wuk Lamat. We already beat the cosmic side enemy, this is our time to take part as mentor.
@@bebekkurushonestly I would have liked for at least one section where we try to do things as usual only for it to blow up in our face, showing that even for as experienced as we are we are still fallible and have room to grow as a mentor. Even if it’s piss off pretty much the entire fanbase lol.
@@stitches1110 Haha.. yeah, it would be great to show Lamat’y that failure is a common things and how to handle it.

You mean the literal thing we already learned in Flow and Close in the Distance? I don't think that lesson needed to be repeated.
@@ryu-kazuki698 true, this entire expansion is just a rehash of ShB and EW's thesis but completely washed down
@@KanemiX3 that's one of my biggest gripes with it.

No sorry. Anyone who makes this argument is incredibly off base or doesnt understand what good writing entails. It has absolutely nothing to do with "build up". Taken as an isolated narrative, it was incredibly weak. Do the same with HW or ShB for example and the same is entirely untrue.
