Should see this live it rocks where we watching the same song this is so fun and diffrent. The album was concept album they said from the off it would not be your typical BabyMetal if their is such a thing as typical BabyMetal. It always had a mixture of metal and Pop and other genres surprising the hell out of us many times . Saying that this is BabyMetal going back to their cute and fun side still have not lost the fun or cuteness . As another BabyMetal fan said to me in a reaction comments section this is what makes BabyMetal BabyMetal 😁🤘🏼🦊🤘🏼

    _Wasshoi wasshoi!_
    _Wasshoi wasshoi!_
Hey guys, it's been a while, you didn't show up with more BM songs from the new album or early era, hope to see you around with more.
We got another banger for Japanese festival or any festival around, they performed this recently at Summer Sonic and yesterday at Houston starting the US live tour, hopefully they will do the same at Blue Ridge Rock, Aftershock or Louder Than Life and get the crowd going nuts with this.
It's their first song released with this new BM reborn and formation.
We heard it before the release because they premiere this at Apocrypha - Another One exclusive show, and someone leaked this on a fancam, it was fun and really unexpected but everyone was having a blast and even started with a Kami Band solo after a while without it.
The song title is Metali!! (metal + matsuri, which is a Japanese festival) and you can hear it in the spoken section when one of them (MomoMetal) is doing the Kabuki moves style.
Just so you know "wasshoi" is another shout used in Japanese festival when men are carrying the shrine, similar to sore and soya you can hear in Megitsune and Karate. The traditional Japanese instrument you can hear in the beginning is a shamizen, also used in Megitsune.
I can totally see why they pick Tom Morello on this, the groove, the catchiness, the super energetic jump and those typical 90's vibes at funk or alternative metal live concerts.
    Next suggestion:
    - Mirror Mirror official MV.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this and see you next time.🦊🤘🎸

You're absolutely right. This was meant to drive us crazy at live shows and they have started to do just that in Japan and now in the US. Check video of a typical Japanese festival where you can hear endless chants of "Wasshoi Wasshoi...". Usually it is male groups, but since we are talking about BABYMETAL, here is a female group => ruclips.net/video/dknY49pINvo/видео.html

Lol, it is the wrong term but also the correct term? It is the correct term you are thinking of a collaboration where two or more artists get together and write them perform a song together such as Ebony and Ivory by Stevie Wonder and Paul McCartney you would not say either artist featured in that song. This is Babymetal song where Tom played as a featuring artist or cameo. To be honest the song did not need Tom to still be a great song

This is a Japanese festival song. The words like wasshoi are traditional chants at a matsuri (festival). Definitely a song for their live shows.

  • @Grington300
    @Grington300 10 месяцев назад +23

"Wasshoi! Wasshoi! Wasshoi! Wasshoi!“ You were right - the live performances of this have been completely wild and the crowds have been going nuts! 🤘🤪🤘
This song was not from the recent album, this is a completely new song - also Momometal's first official music video since she was revealed as the official new member in April and she even got her own solo part with the spoken kabuki theatre section.
The song title translates as 'Metali' (or 'Metari') which is a fusion of the words metal and matsuri (festival). The song is very much tied in with Japanese traditions right from the shamisen being played throughout to all the visuals in the video and it is about a Metal Village holding a metal festival, so they have included all the matsuri shouts everybody would be calling out as encouragement to the people carrying heavy floats etc like "Sore, Sore", "Dokoisho" and "Wasshoi!".
They are inviting us all to dance - I may have this a bit wrong, but there is something in the lyrics (I think in Momometal's kabuki section) about we are all idiots or fools - the idiots who watch and the idiots who dance ... so as we're all here and we're all idiots why just watch, we may as well all dance.
Was it Tom Morello's best work? No, obviously not - but for those of us less familiar with Rage Against The Machine and Audioslave etc we didn't have your high expectations so to us what he did was fit his parts with the song and it works.

Yea yea! Wasshoi! Wasshoi! This song is not from their new album, just the newest single. The recent album, "The Other One" is more of a concept album, and Babymetal exploring music. This song is definitely a bit of a return to "traditional" Babymetal's Kawaii Metal, albeit with a bit more "Umph" and maturity. As other's have mentioned, catering to the Japanese crowd due to Festival Season, with lots of cultural references that makes it great, which could be lost on non-Japanese unless you have a strong cultural understanding. And yep, a few fan cams of this live is out (include a Houston concert a few days ago), and it is truly epic!!
You guys should definitely check out:

    Babymetal Metali (feat) Tom Morello:-
Babymetal have joined forces with Tom Morello of "Rage Against the Machine, Audioslave, Prophets of Rage, Lock Up, Street Sweeper Social Club, Axis of Justice, Class of '99, Shandi's Addiction" for a new single ‘Metali’.
The new song is the latest in the Japanese kawaii metal band’s series of star-studded collaborations, and sees them partner with the Rage guitarist for another up-tempo, electrifying track.
The group first teased the release last week and, according to the press release, ‘Metali’ is “officially the first song by the newly reborn” group - now consisting of SU-METAL, MOAMETAL, and MOMOMETAL. It also confirms that the single was created with the vision of their crowd forming a circle pit at a metal festival this summer.
Babymetal - METALI (feat. Tom Morello)” was released as a digital Single in 2023. The Japanese Title “メタり” has a distinctive style of kana usage. It is written as the nominal form of the made up verb “to do metal”.
This song is characterized by the classic metal style of the Japanese band, combined with some j-rap touches that distinguish it from previous releases. And of course, the subject gets more frantic through the classic guitar style of Tom Morello, which fits quite well in the musical
    LYRICS TRANSLATION:-
It’s the metal-village festival metal song
    festival, festival, come together
make a ring, make a ring
    let the party horns dance1
brothers and sisters of metal-village too

make a ring, make a ring
    sing together
    like that, like that, heigh-ho2
you’re a fool if you dance, and a fool if you just look on, so let’s dance3
you have to dance and become a fool
like that, like that, like that, heigh-ho
you have to dance and sing
you have to sing and dance
everyone has to dance, dance dance,
    we don’t go home.
    dance, dance
dance, like that, like that, heigh-ho
    shake it, shake it
    like that, like that!
    sing, sing!
sing! like that, like that, heigh-ho!

    ….
(shortened for translation, more heigh-ho and heave-ho follow until the end)
Paper horns blown into to celebrate:-
"These are shoutings used at traditional festivals. “sore” and “dokkoisho”. This is the same sore used in Megitsune.
lyrics sung during the Awa Odori festival. This is a farely long sentence translated but shorter in Japanese.
more shoutings used at traditional festivals. “wasshoi”.
the Japanese phrase used here literally translates to “the cats and bamboo lids also” which has the meaning of “everyone and anyone”
This part is spoken in a traditional way of japanese theater, called kabuki".

There's a world of difference between a feature (a short contribution) and a full blown collaboration. They took a RATM template, swapped the choppy guitar for shamisen, then gave Tom himself space to goof off with his oddball solos. Pretty much a textbook feature, IMO. As a promo for their US tour, it's done very well.

I think you guys are over analyzing a song, that was clearly meant as a fun collaboration and a summer dance highlight in their live concerts. Never as a masterpiece of their repertoire. The part that they gave Momo-Metal showed clearly their playful intentions of it all.

I think it's a culture barrier limited your involvement.
The vibe of this song is totally about Japanese festival, a crazy one, not just ordinary parades, a kind that people might get hurt.
"Wasshoi"is the chant while carrying on shoulder and driving a heavy Kami saden blasting over streets. Sometimes, the speed will go faster and faster, then something went wrong and the saden crashed. As far as I know, there is one region custom that Kami saden was built to brutally crash. The carpenters will be rewarded if the saden sustain in good condition after multiple crashes.
The solo part by Tom perfectly described the festival went to a high point then dropped suddenly because IT WENT WRONG!😂
What is the spirit of metal? I know this festival might go wrong, "Fu~ck it! I'm GOING!"😂
By the way, I personally think Tom played more than the solo part, but his guitar was buried for sure. However, the sound engineer left us a trace at when a Babymetal sounding guitar panning from left to right, there is a unique guitar sounding remains on the left. I think that's Tom.
