I feel like this is the opposite of liminal but it’s still just as terrifying. Liminal is when everything seems desolate and empty yet you don’t know what could be lurking in the shadows. Here, everything is overcrowded and messy, and you know *exactly* what happened in the shadows.
No, a liminal space is a space designed for mass movement. Bus stations, airports, streets, malls, schools, etc. The creep factor is the absence of movement in a space designed for movement, some people see comfort in hanging around empty liminal space while others feel disturbed at the nagging feeling they aren't alone because they expect movement. Nobody calls a forest liminal because they aren't conditioned to expect mass human activity.

It's really bizarre that even when Bob was alive, they both slept downstairs in what would technically be living areas. My nan did once she became bed ridden. Sure, once they got older maybe they lost that affection for each other. Some couples drift apart, but still live together and sleep in separate rooms. But to actually sleep in downstairs rooms while Chris had free reign upstairs? Apparently Bob and Barb never actually went upstairs. I get Bob was old and maybe he couldn't handle stairs, but Barb was just lazy. No wonder that house was a cesspool. Also it was so cluttered they couldn't use their own damn cutlery! 🤢

You're surrounded by toys that all seem to be watching your every move. The floor is sticky and as you start to explore the house you can feel your feet peeling off the floor with every step.
