Imagine being at a water park. You’re a young child and everything in the world still looks huge to you. The sound of splashing water and happy screams from other kids is all you hear, but you can’t see said kids. You look up seeing a huge slightly faded bluish-teal waterslide that seemingly touches the clouds. The shadows from it makes you shiver. That’s what the one image reminds me of, just a little story I wrote to go along with it. Thanks for reading. The image is at 3:03.
Its wild! I thought I was the only one, as a kid and still now I'm drawn to places like these and love exploring them while the rest of my family always tell me to be beware hahah!
4:04 That is Edgewater Hotel and Waterpark in Duluth, Minnesota. This picture caught me by so much surprise as I went there so many times as a kid and it feels so nostalgic. I went down those very slides, walked up those very stairs and swam in that very pool.
4:44 This one is also my favorite, it creates a feeling like it's late summer and it's about time to go home again after staying at a vacation house near the water park. Before leaving it's already clear that the place will leave a profound nostalgic impact.
Very interesting! You should do a video on those neighborhood liminal spaces. They usually give off an unnerving and empty, yet strangely familiar feeling to them.
2:35 i was at that place as a child. The thing you see there is the end of the slide. The red one is especially scary, because the water pulls you in, and as a child i couldn't swim at all and felt fear while almost "drowning"
4:04 I find the part that makes this image what it is is is that the lighting and shape of the slide make it look like the slide is going downwards, but the composition of the environment and how slides are normally placed suggest that is should be going upwards. Leading to a picture that doesn't seem to make sense.
For me that’s even worse because the clothing would get soaked and start dragging you down by a lot. Making you unable to swim away from any danger or even at all depending on the amount of clothing. Also, nice pfp
RUclips has been recommending me your videos non-stop. I watched one, and now I can't stop watching them all. They short and fascinating, and you have a pretty good narration voice. You just earned yourself another sub ;3 (PS: I had no idea that liminal spaces existed before discovering your channel, had to search the definition up on Google xD)
1:33 I have some painful memories with those types of slides, I remember on a cruise ship, when I was a kid, there was a pool with some water slides, and one particular water slide I went on was a tube water slide, much like that one, a little darker blue, and the area where you came out was yellow, and I don’t know what I was thinking, but I liked the shallowness of the slide’s pool, and then another kid came down right on me, I wasn’t too hurt but my back was in pain for a few hours after that.
The first one really reminds me of this pool i went to as a kid, because it too had a slide that went straight into the ground and ever since I went there, I was always confused as to where the slide ended
4:01 I believe there was was a place in Omaha NE that had a huge indoor water park, then spectated by an entry/register/ room was an arcade, so maybe that’s what’s going on.
Your videos are so good, love all the liminal images and your opinion about each one. I like to see your videos before going to sleep so they could be dreams material
The image at 3:03 looks EXACTLY like a waterslide I remember going when I was a kid. I remember the blue one being pretty chill but the white one being very scary to go in for some reason. If you guys are curious, I remember it being in a Hotel somewhere in Caldas Novas - Goiás, Brazil, but it's very unlikely that they're the same I think.
0:48 I saw this image for the first time fairly recently. What scares me is that a few weeks before, I dreamt about that place yet I've never been there before in my life...
it’s waterworld in stoke on trent, england. i used to go there all the time when i was younger. i think the image was probably stored in your subconscious part of your mind which is what made you dream about it
my fave would either be the industrial looking one or the last one- for the last one i think it is the colours and lighting in combination. it gives the photo an old, dirty look. i can almost feel the humidity and warmth. the grey-orange-pink-combo of the fake rocks weirdly looks like the old sofa my grandparents had when i was little.
This may sound weird but the game room one was the most nostalgic to me because I went to indoor water parks the least. Also just the images of the fish and what seems to be an octopus on the wall just makes it feel like there’s someone or something watching me. Also good idea putting the wet dry world music in the video that whole Mario 64 stage is a minimal space.
hey man i think you deserve a lot more likes and subs. these videos are amazing. i was shocked at how many subs you have. i wish you were more popular.
I used to be creeped out by this huge slide (at a normal park) because of the darkness. People would say it's the "Dark Slide" which made it sound more ominous than it was. It's actually really fun to go down. The way you can't see anything makes slides feel... like traps.
Another weird thing about the first image you talk about (the hell slide) for me is that the floor seems to be carpeted like who has carpet even near water?
The one with the interior Forest is an interesting one. I think Jabroni Mike and Fredrick Knudsen did a...deep dive into that location cause it’s so weird! It’s inside of some dudes dooms day bunker that was converted into a man cave 😄 I think the episode was called Unreal Estate.
1:39 DUDE I WENT HERE WITH MY FRIEND FOR A B-DAY PARTY AND WHILE GOING DOWN THE WATER SLIDES I ALMOST PASSED OUT BECAUSE AIR WAS GETTING SHOVED DOWN MY THROAT
The best one *bar none* has to be the one going into the floor. It just looks insane, like why would it be like that? It's exactly like something you'd see in a dream. You don't know where it's going, but it has to go *somewhere* and you have to *go through the floor* to get there. The fact that it even goes through the floor at all raises some questions, like "this looks bizarre, does that mean the *rest* of it will be just as bizarre? Is there gonna be an Action-Park-esque loop in the middle somewhere that you can't see? Or maybe a big drop? Does it dunk you in a tank and you have to find your way out to get to the end?" It's endless.
im really drawn to the one with the game room because eventhough most objects are identifiable, at first glance it looks really confusing which reminds me of those dreams where nothing makes sense
Shookey, If you look at one of my videos, I feel like I'm probably the first person to start the liminal space trend before anyone did it. My video is called "Images That Seem Strangely Familiar" which I uploaded in 2019. The original title I made for the video was “images you see in your dreams”. I wonder if there another person on YT who did it first than me...
2:32 What I find most disturbing about the image are the stairs leading up to the slides. Imagine going up steel/iron stairs with small steps while your hands and feet are wet. That seems like a safety hazard waiting to happen

I took a liminal space photo never posted it but basically in early September there was a hurricane that hit Jersey which is where I live but anyway it was a huge flood in my town and me and my friends decided to go ride bikes into some of the more flooded areas in my town one of the pictures I took was of water on a bike trail in the middle of the woods the picture makes me uncomfortable and has all the things a liminal space picture would need
I stayed at the old Nickelodeon hotel, now Holiday Inn, right outside of Disney World when I took my daughter there for Halloween 2 years ago. Inside the hotel complex is a water park. It’s outside and the hotels border it. The way that water park looked during the day, compared to night was crazy. I’m a smoker and as soon I’d come out the hotel room to smoke, it was right in front of me and I know this sounds childish but I didn’t even like looking at it at night lol.
Why does it have to be creepy or unsettling? Why can’t it be something else? I see waterpark liminal space stuff as comforting and like… A childhood I never had from a dream, but not in a bad way. Idk how to explain it.
My vocabulary was very limited back then (this video is three years old, I'm using an intro for goodness sake 😭). I'd probably use words like existential to reflect fleeting times. Or words like wistful to describe their vague nature! What do you think? 🤔
I'd say Caneva park's black hole 2 Is liminal.. Its like at the end you end up in a sewer, And through out all the slide you can just feel, Neither hear. You can't see because everything's black...
