I am a novice DIY and do most scheduled maintenance on my VW Passat. First time doing a serpentine change on this vehicle after 80K miles. Your video is very well done, given the tight space to work in, I was a little apprehensive about getting the new belt onto the back pulley which is in a pretty, tight, confined space, but with a little patience, I was able to wrap over the pulley after a couple of tries, after which the rest was pretty straight forward. Thank you!
Great job doing it yourself. It just takes patience. It’s not too bad after you get it on the proper pulleys. Thanks for watching and nice work doing it yourself 👍🏼😎💯
Mine still has an original belt at 155000 miles in Phoenix AZ (VW Passat 2015). What we have here is supposedly the worst climate for rubber in the US due to the extreme dry heat. That’s basically tells you how good the original belt is
Thank you so much, have you done a radiator flush, I tried to do it on mine but got intimidated when the hoe's clips were different from all the videos on RUclips so I didn't wanna risk it.
Appreciate the compliment 😊 I haven’t done one on this car. I had an accident about a year ago that damaged the front end a little bit so they put in a new radiator or intercooler. They did the flush at that time. But I will say that there’s not much damage you can do. Don’t worry about the clips. Clips are just clips. If they break you can always use hose clamps. If they are plastic clips just be extra careful. If your not confident I’d take it to a mechanic. But honestly I haven’t done it on this car myself. I’m sure it’s not to bad. Good luck and thanks for watching the videos 👍🏼😎💯
Yes same concept but different belt size and pulleys. Most all cars have the tensioner to loosen the belt. VR 6 just has a different belt path. Get a diagram and you should be good 💯👍🏼😎
As a complete novice who happens to own a Passat, your videos have been a lifesaver, and super informative! Preciate ya, sir!
That means a lot. Thank you so much. I’m just a normal guy that prefers to know how to maintain my car. Thanks so much for watching 👍🏼💯😎

That’s awesome. May want to think about changing it. Lol. Mine may have lasted that long too. But I don’t want to risk it. Thanks for watching 💯😎👍🏼
@@grind-it-outhow many miles do you have on your Passat? 2016 version looks a lot more fancier
85000 miles. I just wanted to show how to replace the belt. It’s a good maintenance thing to do. Some people never change it.
203,000 miles on a 2016 here in the valley and she’s still going strong with the OE belt. Not proud of it but I’m impressed with it!
Might want to get a backup
Appreciate you sir ! Just saved me 180$ !!

Nice Video. I nned to do this
Appreciate that. Good luck.
Should check the tensioner pulley while the belt is off and consider regreasing it if it spins too easily.
Yep never hurts
Hello, what can you say about the timing chain? Was it changed on your car or not?
I have not done anything with timing yet. But I’m sure the day will come. I’ll have to read up on it. So far so good. Thanks for watching 👍🏼😎💯
nice video
Thank you
Is this the same concept for 2016 passat sel premium 3.6 v6 ?
Yes same concept but different belt size and pulleys. Most all cars have the tensioner to loosen the belt. VR 6 just has a different belt path. Get a diagram and you should be good 💯👍🏼😎
That accessory belt was 100% fine, no need to replace it.
It had 80k on it. It’s called. preventative maintenance. 👍🏼
how do keep the engine are clean?
Just wipe it down sometimes. Spray it with the hose. Use a degreaser
Wrong size belt mate .
VW Passat needs 1031mm
For my 1.8 t it’s correct
There are different engine sizes. My belt is perfect
👍🤝
