Hi I’m a professional opera singer and voice coach. I’ve Ben watching reactions videos over the last few months and have to say... In most of the covers, better than the originals. In the same way (to some extent) that Mozart was genius from such a young age, she is pure genius!!! What I’ve noticed however, is that when you look at her she doesn’t have much expression on her face for what comes out her mouth! It’s like a God is speaking through her and she doesn’t even realize it (according to her facial expression). I just hope she doesn’t fall it drugs and garbage (like Amy WINEHOUSE & Whitney Houston, Freddie queen etc), as I think she basically at their level and she’s still a kid. She has such a great future ahead of her, if only she is kept away from that garbage.
I have to agree with you when it comes to facial expression and when she performs live, her moves and gestures used to be a kind of clumsy. When she closes her eyes, holds the mic and breathes in, she seems well committed! Glad you recognize her talent as an opera singer! I know exactly what you are saying. In my opinion, I also had the same feeling that in some songs she appeared robotic even though the song she was singing touched me emotionally. One song she seemed expressionless (going through the motions) but at the same time delivered a beautiful song. How can one sign a song that tugs at your emotions but the the signer doesn't appear to show emotion? However, there are many times when she is completely vested in songs like "Always On My Mind" (due to the death of her grandfather) where she cried but delivered a heart wrenching performance, and "I Put a Spell On You" where she seemed to be in her "magical place" during and after the end of that song. I think Angelina's version of this song is better than Adele' version (eg she did the original and Adele did the cover!).

Angelina always puts her soul into everything she sings. This is a cover of an Adele song, but whenever she covers a song she will have you convinced that she's the one that wrote it. She is able to take songs I have heard my whole life and bring out meaning that I never picked up on before. You mentioned the old school sound... just wait until you hear her covering Billie Holiday. Angelina frequently does covers equal or better than the original IMO, and it's not uncommon for someone who doesn't know about the original to assume it's her song whenever she does a cover.
You know what is amazing is how easily she can slip in and out of that level of commitment. She will sing a song that will absolutely devastate me and as soon as she is done it is a wave of the hand and her quixotic "bye", and off she goes. How does she do that?
As you said , she has an Ipad to her left as a reminder for the lyrics, hence the blue glow, English is not her first language, making her performance seem so much better.
I think she makes her voice ie her falsetto, sound the way it does on purpose. Having heard her hit high notes with power, I know she can. Example: I have nothing and I will always love you. And the song is by Adele.
Angelina has a 5 octave capability, . We would be hard pressed to find another pre -teen with this range, tone and vocal artistic abilities, Angelina has never given a mediocre performance, some may like some songs more than others that is natural, but to say Angelina did not do her best is to not know and understand Angelina's God given talent. Her talent is apparently just beyond some peoples ability to appreciate or understand. Angelina's voice is liking to a Stradivarius violin in the hands of master that can plays any song to maestro level, but like I said not every song is to the liking of everyone, but this does not diminish the ability of the instrument. A few song choices from Angelina's body of work is not enough to rightly assess her capabilities, she will surprise us with each and every song she takes on. There have been many rectors that have to change their analysis of Angelina after hearing a wider body of her covers and her original songs, and also the fact that she does her own arranging in her songs choices.
She can sing pop, rock and jazz style songs but i highly doubt she can master something as technical as opera. Until then she isnt on par with the likes of dimash in range or ability
Angelina is amazing, but I don't know where the claim about 5 octaves comes from. I see it repeated here and there, but never with any reference to where she hit notes 5 octaves apart. So far it seems to me like it's more like 3-4, which is very good also.
Geir Tore Simonsen I remember people saying this about Mariah Carey: she supposedly had a reach of 7 octaves. And look what happened to her voice. ;). So it’s not really a good feature anyway. The “wow”-factor for reaching high notes is completely lost on me anyway.
GYBR not one of her best performances?? Maybe not the song that showcases her abilities the most, but I have never heard anyone sing it better. That includes Elton Johns original, which I have listened to countless times over the years. The only equal that I have heard is Sara Bareilles, which is also fantastic and clearly the basis for Angelinas performance.
Sara Barielles is my favorite singer, as she is a complete talent. Saw her concert in November, and she was incredible. Angelina will someday be the best of her generation, and she is super amazing already

FWIW, I scrolled through the comments on the GYBR reaction video, and the very few people who were being at all critical were merely saying that the song didn't showcase her strengths as much as some other songs, not that she performed it poorly. She did a song Born To Die I think that's the name in the same kind of setting as this song and IF you liked this song you have to hear that one. That one really got to me and even better atleast I think than this one and that's saying something because I loved this one

I dont know what Angelina song you reacted to last time or if this is just your second reaction to her but if you wanna see what her upper register is and very different way of using her range you really should react to "A mans world" and "Id rather go blind" I can also mention her Whitney Houston rendition of "I have nothing" and even if thats also very good you can here her struggle a bit more on the highest notes.

Many of her covers (especially when she was younger) are the old classics, like the 30s to 50s (the I grew up with). She is reminiscent of the 40 year old songstresses who performed leaning on the piano in cigar bars. Difference is they had the years of life experience to convey the passion of the song, while pre-teen Angelina draws this from something inside of herself.

frankohero Some people think Adeles song is based on some Turkish/Kurdish tune... (easy to find on YT), but it’s a bit far-fetched. Most popsongs are tunes that can be heard somewhere else one way or the other.

I understand why you like her version, but it's pretty ridiculous for a 10 year old to be singing about conjuring a spell on a boy. It's a bad song choice, even though she does an amazing job.

Always a personal preference of course, but it’s surprising to me that people always review this song and “I put a spell on you”, and of course her AGT performances. Whereas I’m more into songs like Every time we say goodbye (which I think is still one of her very best performances at the age of 10), Cheek to cheek (with the big band), and Diamonds are forever. Those last 2 songs are unprofessional recordings, which is something I like because you can be quite sure there’s no post production. It’s not just about the songs, but I feel that her timing in these songs is incredible, along with her voice control and perfect feel for the songs.

Angelina frequently does covers equal or better than the original IMO, and it's not uncommon for someone who doesn't know about the original to assume it's her song whenever she does a cover.
You know what is amazing is how easily she can slip in and out of that level of commitment. She will sing a song that will absolutely devastate me and as soon as she is done it is a wave of the hand and her quixotic "bye", and off she goes. How does she do that?

I think she makes her voice ie her falsetto, sound the way it does on purpose. Having heard her hit high notes with power, I know she can. Example: I have nothing and I will always love you.

Angelina has a 5 octave capability, . We would be hard pressed to find another pre -teen with this range, tone and vocal artistic abilities, Angelina has never given a mediocre performance, some may like some songs more than others that is natural, but to say Angelina did not do her best is to not know and understand Angelina's God given talent. Her talent is apparently just beyond some peoples ability to appreciate or understand. Angelina's voice is liking to a Stradivarius violin in the hands of master that can plays any song to maestro level, but like I said not every song is to the liking of everyone, but this does not diminish the ability of the instrument. A few song choices from Angelina's body of work is not enough to rightly assess her capabilities, she will surprise us with each and every song she takes on. Great reaction to the" New Barefoot Queen of Song" , until the next one Cheers. P.S. There have been many rectors that have to change their analysis of Angelina after hearing a wider body of her covers and her original songs, and also the fact that she does her own arranging in her songs choices.
She can sing pop, rock and jazz style songs but i highly doubt she can master something as technical as opera. Until then she isnt on par with the likes of dimash in range or ability
Angelina is amazing, but I don't know where the claim about 5 octaves comes from. I see it repeated here and there, but never with any reference to where she hit notes 5 octaves apart. So far it seems to me like it's more like 3-4, which is very good also.
Geir Tore Simonsen I remember people saying this about Mariah Carey: she supposedly had a reach of 7 octaves. And look what happened to her voice. ;). So it’s not really a good feature anyway. The “wow”-factor for reaching high notes is completely lost on me anyway.
GYBR not one of her best performances?? Maybe not the song that showcases her abilities the most, but I have never heard anyone sing it better. That includes Elton Johns original, which I have listened to countless times over the years. The only equal that I have heard is Sara Bareilles, which is also fantastic and clearly the basis for Angelinas performance.

Sara Barielles is my favorite singer, as she is a complete talent. Saw her concert in November, and she was incredible. Angelina will someday be the best of her generation, and she is super amazing already

Many of her covers (especially when she was younger) are the old classics, like the 30s to 50s (the I grew up with). She is reminiscent of the 40 year old songstresses who performed leaning on the piano in cigar bars. Difference is they had the years of life experience to convey the passion of the song, while pre-teen Angelina draws this from something inside of herself.

Always a personal preference of course, but it’s surprising to me that people always review this song and “I put a spell on you”, and of course her AGT performances. Whereas I’m more into songs like Every time we say goodbye (which I think is still one of her very best performances at the age of 10), Cheek to cheek (with the big band), and Diamonds are forever. Those last 2 songs are unprofessional recordings, which is something I like because you can be quite sure there’s no post production. It’s not just about the songs, but I feel that her timing in these songs is incredible, along with her voice control and perfect feel for the songs.
