The steering bushings swap seems like it would be the most difficult one to replace. Does it make a difference? I see from the other comments that it’s part of the entire suspension overhaul..
I tried replacing the 4 small rack bushings but couldn’t push the metal sleeve out. Seems really tight. My car is RHD JDM DC2 Type R, so slightly different. I think there’s less room.
I have original 244k mile rack bushings you think I'll notice a difference? My s2000 has spoiled me in the steering department. Civic feels like the black pearl now.
hey man do you happen to know where i can get steering rack bushings for a manual steering 94 the kits i see all say power steering only and mine are very worn out 300k miles on the body ha who knows if they have ever been changed and putting down a bit more power id like to cahnge out most of the front end as i do this at the same time
It doesn't look like Energy Suspension make them for manual racks. Now the 4 bushings which hold the rack to the subframe will work on your manual rack. The large round bushing too large for a manual rack. You could replace the large round one with a new rubber one from Honda and with the 4 small bushings replaced with the ES parts I think you'll be good for quite a while.
+nic3guyeddie Probably not something you can feel crazily, but it's all part of the big picture of having a suspension setup that performs well. The urethane will be much more responsive than the rubber counterpart.
I just installed coilovers and replaced control arms, tie rods, and ball joints and I’m still not getting the tight, controlled, planted feeling that I was expecting on an Integra with 250,000 miles. The suspension seems to be taking the bumps well but something else isn’t. I get a lot of road vibration. Should I try this next?
@@GarageBuiltHondas Only just the things listed so far…not sure if any of those have bushings (I don’t do all of my installs). What all bushings can/should I do? It’s an automatic for now. I’ll replace the sway bars so I’ll wait on those bushings.
@@GarageBuiltHondas I didn’t even look at the control arms before dropping them off at the shop, but would they not have had new bushings in them? I had upper and lower replaced on the front.
I have a question i have a 2000 civic if i change the bushings on the steering rack will that stop the play on my steering wheel it gets really sensitive when im driving over 60 MPH ????
You may need new motor mounts or torque mounts (depending on vehicle) if you're experiencing a lot of steering wheel vibrations. These could also help too.
Watching this during quarantine haha. Perfect time to work on our cars!
Exactly!
Just picked up this kit for my DC2, can't wait to get these pieces on.. 234,000 Canadian KM on stock bushings, I think it's about time #bodyrollkills
You're going to love it!! Such a great set to really liven up the suspension again!
Just did mine today. Ordered it from rockauto. Thanks from Canada!
Excellent, and you're welcome
Thank you for this, very helpful.
Glad to help!

It's probably difficult to notice a difference, but they're not difficult to replace. It seems harder than it is.

Try a socketor extension that's similar sized. Remember, the bolt comes out from the top.

I doubt it. The rubber still is probably in ok shape I bet.
@@GarageBuiltHondas Yeah that's what I thought. Came in the kit so I'll install them anyway. Steering quickener hopefully at some point.
🙏👍
so no lithium grease for the shifter bushings?
I never use it on the shifter bushings. The shifter isn't under the same duress as all the suspension bushings. I like it to be as crisp as possible.

Did those steering bushings make any difference or none at all?

If those steering rack bushing are worn can your car shake or jerk while going on first gear?
Possibly
Does this upgrade make a difference bro?
Absolutely. Have you checked your bushings?
Are those little original bushings pressed in ??
No

Every single control arm has bushings. With 250k, I bet all of yours are shot.

Those should have new bushings if bought brand new. Still got the all the rear then.

It can't hurt. Have you checked your wheels bearings, tie rods (inner & outer), and ball joints? It might be a different issue.
Garage Built Hondas ill check them out chief thanks !
Anytime, these older cars usually need some suspension overhauls.
My crx has a clunking noise to it could the steering rack bushings? Everything else minus that and the sway bar bushings have been replaced
It's a possibility.
Check subframe bolt tightness
My energy red bushing kit didnt come with those metal ring peieces for the shifter bushings were can i order those. Doing a b swap in ek
They will be on your stock bushing on your car still.
Hey man where can I get this part thanks
Here is the exact one we used for this car. amzn.to/2I9XkhI
Garage Built Hondas so I have a
problem mine look like this
I don't see anything. What kind of car do you have?
Hey bro, another way you could get the bitch pin out of the shift linkage is a 3/8th's drop in setting tool they use for eletrical work. Works great.
I'll have to check one out! That's one tool I've never owned, something to get that damn pin out. I'm always using an old bolt.
Jon Widmer they're on Amazon for like 10-12 bucks. solid metal.
The electricians tool looks exactly like that tool on ebay and is half the price, works just as well.
@@WalterRitcheysuper late but just take out one of the 12mm bolts for the power steering n use that to knock out bitch pin super essy
is that a ls vtec motor ?
GSR
I have a question, the kit comes with 4 bushings but i only see that you removed 2, where does the other 2 go?
+steven trang all 4 go on the opposites ends of the 2 bolts that mount the rack to the rear subframe.
Hello
Would changing this will help ease up the vibration on the shiftknob and steering wheel?
