John did awesome! Congratulations to him on his new beautiful deck!
Jeff you're awesome! Totally honest criticism but also really encouraging for this homeowner. I think he did awesome! A beautiful deck that will be enjoyed for years to come!
Jeff I’m addicted to any video you put out. And John great job you make a DIYer proud.
OVER KILL "what is that" there's no such concept. Over kill is good kill. I Love it!
This was such an interesting video. He was such a likable guy and so appreciative of your help. Great.

Reality Renovasion is the Best !
Love the little graphics that pop up to illustrate what's going on. Very helpful. 👌
Looks GREAT! Good job John..
I feel the way this fella does. Your videos and enthusiasm are definitely a helpful tutor for us guys that haven't done this work for as long as you have.
Beautiful job John
Wow, John, great job!!! Thank you for the video Jeff and Max! Was that a cameo of Michele?!!
Great renovation!!!!
Great job
That was a phenomenal job!
Great job! Only critique is to go bigger. Always go bigger. You won’t regret it.
Nice job!
He did a great job & is so humble
Wow great work nice design well done
This video has really hit home. I just finished my deck which is VERY similar to this (cedar, same color stain, similar black railing...), so I could feel every word of him.
The imperfections are annoying when I’m doing it, but once it is done and I just use it, I don’t even notice them at all.
Great job, looks really nice!
Love the content Your helping a lot of people get out there and improve there way of living, Your a rock star Jeff keep up the good work.
Great job! This is so awesome. I am ready to visit. LMAO! So great!
Good job
really nice job on the deck ...looks amazing ....
Yup he did a great job!
I don't believe what that deck use to look like!
Simply amazing! Congrats John!
Thank you Jeff for documenting this diy :)
I would hire this guy before hiring a deck company anyday.
I like the foundation posts
Great job on the deck. Pro Job.
Camo system on angled deck boards?? I have two of the handles (different gaps) but is there a special one for angled decking (since the standard ones only work for the nominal 6" boards)?
There is no difference if you use it on angled boards. Only you can’t screw both sides at the same time without repositioning.
dude, you really should put other social links in the description!
Good god is that true!!!!!!!!
I’m pretty pissed. Just joined carpentry union. And the guys I work with are mid to late 30’s.
And sorry but they don’t give a flying dam abut things being perfect. I got told not to use a speed square to cut my lumber because is dangerous. So I got told to cut lumber without. They also screwed in 2in tapcons on a window frame going against brick. I’m like, don’t you need at least a 3in and they said, nah as long as it grabs your good.
And all I get is, “we’ve been in the trade too long my body hurts, we were once your age wanting to do everything perfect but is not like that” I’m Iike really I’m 29 not that far off from you guys. And I’m suppose to learn from you guys!
I’ve learned better from RUclips
Yeah Dude. Carpenter's union is nice but me being a 28 year old work in the Carpenter's Trade for 10 years now, without a union. I'm happy. I don't have benefits, and I'm not making the money you are but I love it i'm free to work as much as I want under my boss of a small company.
locsipocsi1 I was about to get a non union job at first and then my cousin that works in the union right away got with someone that he knows to pick me up. I’ve heard both good and bad about both worlds. But like today two guys pretty much laughed at me because all my knowledge I have is from RUclips, like specifically on the knowledge I have using tools I learned because of RUclips. And today they basically said RUclips is all a theory on how to use the tools
You’ll learn how to use the tools here............
Not sure that trade even exists anymore. Now its JTAC's.
How many 2x12 beams would you need for a 10 foot span??? Anyone know??
How long did it take build the entire project?
About 5 weeks total. Myself and a buddy who helped for a few days on the heavy lifting.
Anyone know where the black post bases can be bought?
Jake Weihe - I bought mine from my local lumber store: By-town Lumber. $1.89 ea.
I'll bet that deck lasts more than 50 years.
New deck who dis?
Hi Jeff?
I build houses and we spend about 30k on framing, siding, roofing, permits, plans and lumber and 16k on the foundation including concrete cost and materials with inspections, for a 2,200 square foot home that’s a lot of money on just a deck
Decking looks good though
Just bought a house. What are the odds you'd help me build a deck?
Watch Foreigner in phillipines
Surprised they are talking in feet. Aren’t they in Canada? Shouldn’t it be metric?
I'm number 1
''My crew would direct fighters in on targets''.. SO basically calling airstrikes on innocent civilians abroad.
Nothing is more annoying than someone watching you work...
Colossal waste of time, money, and resources to build support posts for a deck. Over-engineering to the nth degree. Great video though.
Too much yakking and posing for the camera. Just do the job!
Just too much talking...it gets a bit dull.
