Catching up on videos. Was watching a TV show on Netflix 😂. I recall when you guys had tension with the shed build and the fire table. Taking time to mend frustrations and to share those tender moments. It's good seeing Matt again. Definitely take time to breathe away from each other. It's beautiful to help do family projects, but also can be stressful when spending too much time. Either way, it's been great seeing Nate and Matt again. ❤️❤️

They went through a hell of a time working on that house and tensions certainly hit a boiling point but they got it done and are still working together and that's true family.
Jeff was the only one really laughing about the similarity to the time you guys put the fire table 😂. Love your work and that you have your family help out

I work with my son's as a contractor, love having them with me, reminds me why I work so hard. I will say this, it's a damn stressful situation at times having them there and it causes alot of unnecessary stress when they bad talk and question my methods. Your son seems to do that slot, I'm hoping you check him and let him know your the lead guy and he needs to learn respect and understanding of your role and his. Just a comment from one contractor to another no disrespect toward you or your son and your relationship. Side note, you do good work, thank you for keeping our trade honest and respectful.

Jeff, I fucking hate losing a huge ass porcelain tile to the tile cutter. So I either use the electric grinder or I distribute the load on each side of the metal pusher by using a few scrap planks.
i thought that shower looked fine as is! But I do get your idea to make the tile match throughout the bathroom.
I think a lot of people will agree I thought the same but honestly once you start updating the whole bathroom whatever is old really sticks out. So best to do it all

I saw the bit with the shutoff valves stripping and had to laugh. I had the same thing happen a month ago at my place. We went to shut off the main valve to find it was also corroded. I wanted that vanity out so I cut those pipes, one at a time, and while water poured out I forged ahead and installed the sharkbite valves.
$400 later I also had the main valve replaced.
wood floors in the bathroom? doesn't seem like that would be a good idea around the toilet or just for wet in general??

great video! but I would say, at 44:00, that cut is crazily dangerous.
If you've got vinegar laying about, put your fittings in there for like 30 mins and it'll clean it right up instead of CLR, which obviously works great, but Vinegar does the job just as well and minimizes chemical use.

That floor heating system can radiate through the tile and reach the hardwood?

seeing the hole in the wall paper makes me think about things we've done in our house , i e starting a "straight forward" repair that turns into a project - - - I know it happens to save wall paper or not enough was ordered or wall paper is around a large mirror attached to studs etc --- whenever possible we paint or paper an entire surface so the next people will not find a "robbed Peter to pay Paul" job like we frequently do (Example: taking out a non - code modular shower to see bare cement (not tile) on a bathroom floor grrrrr) - - wish Jeff would come to our house
I'm trying to figure out what you gain by tiling over tile... Unless it's in great condition it seems silly

You probably shouldn’t cut on that miter saw without sitting the wood on the back fence. But if you will anyways, keep that thumb tucked in, my dad cut his thumb off in the 90’s cutting a piece of hard wood flooring the same way you cut there because the blade pulled the whole piece of wood towards it.
Once again I learned several new things. Tiling over tile in the shower and the floor. The plumbing is a bit too much for me. Beyond my skill set and expertise. Thank you for explaining things so I can understand 👍

I'm certainly no plumber but wouldn't you want more of a Y type connection for the sink drains rather than a 45 degree hard turn? Also why did you have the drain coming from up top connect to both the drain below and the sink drain all the way to the right (was this a vent pipe or something?)?
34:27 you mention "we want nothing to do with this old style of plumbing" but proceed to still make PEX crimp connections. Can you please elaborate? If you're referring to the crimp ring over the clamp ring they're both of the same era, use the same F1807 crimp fittings and are both controlled by ASTM standards.

I have plaster walls which make my situation a little more complicated xD lord knows it probably needs to be tore out and redone tho.. that bathroom hasnt been touched in yeaarrss. Its probably original.

Unscrew the shutoff from the other bathroom, use it and shut off the broken one. Then replace it before you lose it and voila. You're welcome.
I always laugh so much at the intro of you making the wee tractor nearly tip and you laughing like a boy with a new toy 🤣 can I ask I've probably missed it but why are you doing all that work getting it up to standard and your taste just to move house?

Hate to say it, but the new shower tile is a horrible color already. But the old one would have also looked better with the counter top.
Also not a fan of going over existing things. You could be missing an issue under the old stuff.

Yeah your right that was intentional and a source of conflict for me. Because Jeff finished the floor at the end of all that but began it earlier. I decided to use the time-lapse back to back to demonstrate the ease of install rather than keeping it chronological. It just didn't work in the edit suite with the floor at the end so it's a sacrifice I had to make. Glad you enjoyed it otherwise and good eyw

Is it a hard water thing or out in country with high iron content thing! Cuz my house is like that but granted the one toilet is 40 yrs old! Lol all cleaned on a weekly or twice weekly basis!

His kids always making him do the hard work..like walking backwards up the stairs in this video. The other video he's making his dad move 4x8 plywood by himself . Jeff needs to make his helper do some of the hard work that's why he's there to help not do the easy stuff . Maybe theres more to it it's just what I notice..
