Wow Cheryl I love your versions of the Mia Jeans! Well done !
Andréanne Abel thank you so much Andréanne 💐
Thanks for sharing the hack. It's just the inspiration I need to try and finish up the half-made Mia Jean in my pile of unfinished objects.
thank you, enjoy sewing yours 🌷
Hi Cheryl
I made these jeans a few months ago as I thought they would be a easier introduction into making jeans than the ginger jeans
I am now a very peculiar shape ( as I’ve got older) and my waist isn’t that much smaller than my hips. I had to alter the pattern accordingly and also did a crotch adjustment as I can’t stand jeans which are cutting me in half.
I have to say, they turned out very well and I’ve worn them loads.
Like you, my fabric only had widthways stretch and not that much actually and they are more like yours,, not skin tight but I’m glad about this as had I made them slimmer,, there wouldn’t have been room to move.
Your Ogden Cammi Top looks great too!
Jackie Blakemore thanks Jackie, it’s lovely being able to make clothes that fit isn’t it? 🌷
Love your Mia jeans hack, I have made the Mia jeans a couple of times and find they fit me well, but they do take a while to make. I must try your jeggings version as it will make them a lot quicker to sew!
thanks Zoe 🌷 yes it was really lovely missing out all the fiddly steps.
I love those Asda jeggings. Those white ones you've made are great, the fabric looks lovely, I wouldn't trust myself in white x
Tracey Meads thanks Tracey 🌷
Lovely jeans! I love white for the summer too! I also love, love, love your ogden cami, the fabric is GORGEOUS on you! I think the stripes will be perfect for the “off the shoulder” too!
thank you Myra 🌷
I'm really enjoying the closer look at fabrics. I'm new to sewing garments so its really helpful. I'm saving up to order some of your lovely floral fabric. I'm in the US and want to gain more skills before I cut into the gorgeous fabric you stock. Thanks for sharing your skills and knowledge.
Tawnya C thank you Tawnya, love to the U.S 💖
You look great for all that sunshine 🌞 your videos always make me want to drop everything and go and sew. 😜😍
Dianne Ross thank you Dianne 😊
You're Ogden Cami and Mia jeans are lovely Cheryl. I really like how you've added the elastic waist - that must make them really comfy! Really love the pink fabric. Such a beautiful colour and looks super comfy too. Thanks for the advice on your example of what a cotton interlock would be used for (mens vest in M&S). I love wearing cotton interlock but don't like how it has not much recovery, so that made total sense to me - first time I've kind of understood that, so thanks! Have a great week and thanks as always for sharing xx
sewagnes thank you Agnes, have a lovely weekend. X🌷🐝
Hi Cheryl, thank you so much for this video. I love the MIA jeans but I wanted to make jeggins for a while now, because sometimes my weight goes up or down and the jeans are uncomfortable for that reason, so jeggins are a great solution. I will give this hack a try!
thank you lovely 🌷 Try the Jalie Eleonores too, maybe less work than hacking the Mia's as they are already pull-on jeans.
Oh I will take a look at those as well 💙
Cheryl, ask SOI for the high resolution version of the City Break instructions! I pestered them when it first came out because the images weren't clear enough when zooming in, and they finally sent it to me, so it's definitely available. Jo xx
PS Love your jeans - I'd have something messed on them before I got out of the house! ;-)
Fab, I will, thanks Jo.xx
Fabulous as always 🤩 I’m all for quick makes too 🤗
Wendy B thanks Wendy 🌷
I love your outfit! The Cami is perfect and the Mia hack is awesome! 👍🏼👍🏼
Aquilterknits thanks Pam 🌷
Fantastic hacking on the Mia jeans, those are right up my alley! Really love the pink French terry, I'll bet it's a dream to wear!
Stay Stitching thank you 😊 Yes I’m looking forward to sewing that up, it’s lovely 🌷
love the mia jeans! they look great on you, great job on the pocket too. tfs😁
thank you so much 🌷
Great idea with changing them to jeggings
Love them! 💕
Lise Gamache thanks Lise 🌷
I like the white jeans, I might have to try sewing them some day.
What a lovely top and pants! You look wonderful!
Christine Lafleur thank you Christine 🌷
The jeans fit you perfect love your top too
louise lill thanks Louise 🌷
Oh yes, I’ve got the Eleonore jeans from Jalie. Now I must have white ones 😍. You’re looking lovely and tan too!
Stitches & Seams thank you so much 😊 Ooh yes, I’ve heard good things about the Eleonores 👍🏻👏🏻
Hi Cheryl, great jeans and love the pattern on the pockets as it just makes them your own doesn't it 👍. Looking forward to seeing your off the shoulder top and what you choose for it 😉. If you ever get around to making the new Sew House Seven pattern 115 Tabor V-Neck, I would love you to do a tutorial on the neck band. I think it will be something that I'll try in the autumn so no rush for that 👍. Cute french terry and, like you say, great for the huddie in Tillie's book. Again, something I would like to try in the autumn. Happy sewing Cheryl 😘
Sally Dingle thanks Sally 🌷 Will have a look at the Tabor pattern for you 👍🏻
Love the jeans
Lesley Jones thanks Lesley 🌷
Great jeggings, I’ve got three small children so white jeans are out for me! I do love them tho.
Sew PrettyKitty ha! I remember it well 😊 Lots of prints is a good idea around little ones 👍🏻
Great video, as always. Thanks for the close up of the texture of fabrics. Really helpful! Do you have any recommendations for best pattern out there for a shirtdress? Have been prevaricating between three or four different ones, can't decide which to take the plunge for me first shirtdress!
Kelli Wolfe thanks Kelli 🌷I’ve yet to sew mine but I decided on Simplicity 8014 as one options doesn’t have a waist seam and I prefer them without 👍🏻
Very flattering jeans Cheryl and I would do the same with the faux fly. I’m a bit wary of stretch cottons as the ones I’ve used seem to bag out during wear. Im trying to make the perfect trouser( in between other projects!) as find it hard to buy well fitting ones .I’m all for quick makes too at the moment😆
Ruth Lanwarne thanks Ruth, yes I’m loving simple to make patterns at the mo. X
The pull on style is so fresh in this white denim! What a great pair on jeans for summer, and they look sharp with the Ogden! That's good to know about the instruction resolution. That's a shame about the insides--can you zigzag it?
Elizabeth Made This thanks Elizabeth 🌷 No worries about the inners, I can always pink them or Hong Kong finish. Still wearable 👍🏻
Hi, loved the pink jersey I had last time. I used a vogue blouse pattern to make a sweat top cardigan with fancy cuffs and pockets in a contrasting fabrics. Anyway I've been looking for white jeans and so have ordered enough to hopefully make a version of the MIA as jeans and possibly another more relaxed fit as shorts Looking forward to receiving my parcel soon. Btw, I tried buying the Ogden cami months ago and although payment went through I couldn't download it on any of my machines and don't even seem to have access to it anymore 😳 so I'm not really sure if I want to try or risk it again! But I do love the pattern.
Sonia Butler thanks Sonia, you’ll love the denim too 👍🏻🌷What a shame about the cami - let True Bias know and they can help I’m sure.
Good point I will try and contact them and hopefully between us we can find the info they will need to prove my purchase and perhaps resend it 👍
Great hack. I've just made the full pattern but I think it was a fail & I wasn't sure if I would make it again but your hacked version might tempt me. In the unaltered pattern I found the waistband a bit high and unforgiving around the high waist, I didn't like the pockets, and the fly is quite tricky to get right even with the sewoverit video tutorial. I also found the photo instructions very blurry and therefore frustrating. So it really interested me that your version actually gets around all these problems, and your version looks great!
Hi there. I really enjoyed your vlog as usual. I’d love you to do a pattern round up/review for jumpsuits as there seem to be so many out there at the moment. It would be great if you could comment on whether you think each is better for which body shape. I’ve a curvy size 10 in RTW and I’m never quite sure if they will suit me. I see Athina has just launched a new version in the Smylie magazine.
thanks Diana, I'll add it to the list, will be lovely to make a jumpsuit 🌷
There's also the Erin button skirt in the Sewoverit capsule wardrobe which that fabric would be PERFECT for.
Assuntina Cardillo-Zallo fab idea, thank you 🌷
Your lovely white stretch denim arrived and I'm thinking of using the ginger jeans straight leg option, have you ever used the closet case ginger jeans pattern, and do you think there is enough stretch in the whitening , for that pattern? Thanks for your help, x Sonia
Hi Sonia, I've yet to try the Ginger Jeans pattern, but my gut feel is you may need more stretch. I find the white denim is better for a less skinny fit. Hope that helps, good luck with yours.
Good morning, Cheryl, white pants are a summer staple, and yours look great! I don't own a pattern for pants that please me for fit. Do you know of one that has the slim legs and less butt, but I have a tummy and my waist is larger . I don't know how to fit myself. I made McCall's m9182 (elastic waist pull on) but the legs are more like a skirt.
Thanks Janice 🌷 I've heard good things about the Jalie patterns. They do one called Eleonore pull-on jeans for stretch fabric, and I believe they have others too. For pants, I like the Burda 7062 pattern too. Have a look.x Craftsy also offer some good online classes to get your fit right for pants.
Love your Mia jeggings! And that Ogden cami is stunning on you. I made one this year and it was awful on me. Very disappointing😒
thank you Veronica 🌷, what a shame yours didn't work out. I find that often though, some patterns don't suit me at all - usually everything with a waist seam.
The jeans came out great, I like your use of the elastic waist. The rose print fabric is calling to me. Be brave, use it for your shirt.
thank you so much 😊
Hi try the Elenore jeans from Jalie a lot easier to do I have made 4 pairs so far :)
Lesley Chartier good idea Lesley thank you 🌷😘
Great jeans! Definitely go full on la Isla Bonita- you will look great!
ha ha I just might, thanks Nancy 🌷💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻
BUt otherwise great summer jeans you made
Hi . Hi mam you give you explain so beautiful ....How beautiful you are.....
thank you
Why are people selling fabric in 1/2 yards, i dont get it im 5 3' and weigh 112 and I need more than half of a yard to make anything,, I just move on to the next seller when I see this, I started seeing that on etsy a few years ago and never bought from there bc of that
Sueellen Blubaugh Hi Sueellen, it’s so you can buy exactly what you need. The fabric is sent as a continuous length, so if you need 2.5m for a dress for example, you would order 5 items and so on. Saves buying 3m when you won’t use it all.
