I really need to find a way for not getting mad when I can’t play something at the first day I have less than a year of playing guitar but i feel like dumb when I can’t play a song on the first day or in one week

I've been playing for 10+ years and to me, most of the things explained came naturally without me thinking about it, but what I like in this video is the focus on details that really do make a difference. I completely agree and support the mindset of this channel which is: to be a great guitarist one does not need have majestic shred or overperform with guitar. It just means: nailing every little detail and following the mood.

Leslie West had great vibrato. Revisited his music again, because of his passing, been awhile, and was blown away all over again. Great tone, simple melodic lines and beautiful effective vibrato. Everybodys vibrato is different. Kind of a signature of your playing.

so true. In one interview, he explained that he is left handed and that is why he got this strength in fretting hand to vibrate chords and little bars over three or four strings. But he playing is also so melodic and almost completely chord based which in my view is the key to melodic playing and improvisation. Alchemy live is for sure one of the best albums ever. I wish so desperately I could come close to his playing. But as recreational player and entrepreneur of 55 years, it will remain a dream...

I used to play my vibrato with my finger curled but I remember I used to see you (and the pros) do it with your finger straight so I tried to emulate that. It improved drastically due to better single notes. All this with a lot of practice ofc. So glad you brought it up in this videos because it’s good for beginners to get the technique right from the start, even though string muting usually comes later in the journey :)
I think a good control or usage of vibrato comes with time, especially in improvising. The more you know your craft in order to let your guitar speak (or sing) the more nuanced your sound becomes. And vibrato is one expression of that :)
Keeping the finger completely straight is probably the best advice I have heard about vibrato, it truly is what makes the hand movement click and easy to understand.

In a recent video of David Wallimann and Jennifer Batten, she pointed out that when she was in Jeff Beck's band, she learned from him about using the whammy bar to do vibrato that goes down in pitch and then returns to pitch - which is like what a harmonica player does. Most of the vibratos shown in this video go up in pitch and then return to pitch. The only way that I have figured out how to do vibrato that goes down in pitch without a whammy bar is to bend up to a note and then use vibrato that goes down and then back up. Using this approach, you could also go down in pitch below the note and then up in pitch above the note - similar to what can be done with a floating whammy setup.
Great review. It`s not only about mastering the vibrato but also having more control/workout of fingers and building muscle memories for other guitar technics.

Just want to say this...almost two years ago I started calisthenics, what I take from this is the discipline it took me to make it a "thing" that Ido. I would say like 7 months ago I got a job, the one thing in my life that I really should be doing and wasnt till then(life a mess blablabla, that is not what I wanna say). Like 1 month ago y decided to retake guitar, I played when I was a kid but never really did it well. Dont know why but I decided to take what i have learn from working out into guitar and realize that, that is actually the way you learn to play it, basically doing reps and work on form till you can play what you wanted then move to some harder excercise....well, I think that is the key to everything, I started to aply that also in my job so lets see what happens
I wish you had gone into more detail about "pushing the other strings to the side." It was not clear in the VERY QUICK video shot. I'm still getting the hang of the wrist pivot vibrato technique. I learned the horizontal method years ago, which is effective on a Classical Guitar (what I learned on) with nylon strings, but it doesn't work so well with steel strings (acoustic or electric). I've developed various skills like string muting and eliminating various string noise as well as using my pick to mute the string I'm playing (to vary the duration of a note), but I haven't yet gotten the hang of eliminating string noise when bending and vibrato. It's that little step of getting the other strings out of the way that I haven't mastered, lol. But, I'll keep working on it. Thanks.
My index finger hurts when i try Vibrato. Is it supposed to be this way when starting out? Does one have to build up a callus on the index finger before being able to do it well?
Wow you have an incredible feel for the details. Ever think of catching Jamie’s Crying by Van Halen? I would love to hear you play that part where he pulls the 5 string E up to F# and then hits the d. EVH had supreme feel I know you could cop that. He’s 1/2 step down so my notes are off. Incredible guitar playing, I love just listening your playing. Your truly gifted.
I don't understand what he is saying for the last tip. Does he mean that when you are using multiple fingers to bend/vibrato that you only have the ring finger (say for a bend with the ring finger with index and middle assisting) on the string your are bending and vibratoing and the other two are lifted off of it and pushing the other strings out of the way? Anyone, please feel free to educate me!
Great video. I've been playing for 17 years, never had that great natural sounding vibrato, and a lot of tension. The straight finger and the hand waving I will have to try - feels a bit unnatural right now but you can't undo bad habits overnight I suppose...
weird I don't understand why the classic vibrato works without the fret bar canceling out any vertical movement above it. I guess it's enough string tension change to hear. . Thanks!!!

It's funny that you mentioned Malmsteen. He has one of the best vibratos I've ever heard, after Gary Moore of course :)

IMHO, Mark Knopfler is a true master of vibrato. He's left handed but he plays like a right handed.

@@mudkipper1 If you are left handed and you play guitar like a right handed, your "best" hand is in the fretboard. Bends and vibrato are easier.

I've been playing for a year now and string muting still gets me. I'm trying to find that right pressure point!
