*Exclusive Videos, Tabs & Chord Sheets* Maybe my idealism _and_ socialistic tendencies are showing -- or, possibly, it's simply me being only one step away from being a homeless person -- but isn't one use of patrons so that they (the well-to-do folk) help cover the cost for everyone?
Not one of today‘s guitar heroes didn‘t start off with playing „bad solos“ at first. There will be a turning point soon enough. Depends on how much you want it. 😁
I'll be honest, at first I thought this would be just another guitar video with vague or unoriginal tips, but I was really impressed! While it's not necessarily anything groundbreaking in terms of soloing, this vid does a great job of breaking down the tips and providing really good concrete examples. Within seconds I had picked up my own guitar and was playing along.
Absolutely clear, concise and well explained, with pertinent examples. Not too long, not show-off, actually quality content and explanations, right on point. THANK YOU!
You are one of the best guitar teachers on RUclips. That is because you can understand, notice, differ, isolate, play and teach every little detail. True perfectionist you are sir, what a great opportunity to have you on RUclips. And over that, you have specific pleasant energy as a person
I wholeheartedly agree with that statement. And he has such passion and enthusiasm for teaching. It’s really beautiful and inspiring. And yet, at the same time, he’s such a great guitarist that part of me feels like ‘dang, I wish that he would tour and record records, also.’ (And maybe he does). He’s a great teacher, and a great player. Truer than true.
A solo that's gonna touch you is a solo which sounds like human conversation. Do this in the frequencies of the human voice and phrase it like talking. Speed doesn't help, Just try to tell a story by playing your guitar.
I've been playing guitar for 35 years and you are an excellent teacher! The difference between a good and a great guitarist are many subtle nuances. These are great tips for aspiring guitarists. Subscribed
@@aeondream Great advice. Chris Cain is a superb blues player. But I think that Cain's version of BB King is slightly more "Cain" than it is "BB." In contrast, this video's BB impression is both less original (the player puts less of himself into it) and more accurate as a replica of BB's tone, rhythm, dynamics, and style.
Great Players who use these principles 1. Start Simple: B.B. King 2. Phrasing: Billy Gibbons and David Gilmour 3. Dynamics: Buddy Guy and SRV 4. Vibrato: Gary Moore and Angus Young 5. Repetition: Mark Knopfler 6. Mix It Up: Wes Montgomery and Django Reinhardt
Dude, this was so insightful. I’ve been struggling trying to make the guitar sing the way I think it should. So it’s just nice to hear it explained, very well in fact, from a different perspective. Thank you!
I'm a good rhythm player, chord player, not great at solos. These 6 super simple tips changed the way I practice 100%! So simple but so effective! Thank u so much! Bbking was great example to really understand.
I do not know your real name "Guitar Pilgrim" but from my lips to God's ears, your one hell of a player and a teacher and He should add more unto your skill. I just gave you a standing ovation in my room

Great video. I really enjoy your teaching style. Not only are you a great teacher, you're a great player. These two qualities aren't often found in the same person/guitarist.
This is the best guitar guy I've seen. Informative, gives great examples, and has great tips. We are always learning. After 25 years I'm always amazed at how much you can still learn. Thanks Guitar Pilgrim! You rock.
Thanks a lot for the guitar lesson, there’s so much knowledge to learn to play the guitar appropriately. I’ve been playing guitar for 40 years and i never thought about these techniques.
Absolutely great advices!!! Doing it already spontanous, but never described and exampled in such a compact way. And very good for teaching to make great solos. Thanks mate:-)
It comes with years of playing and some people just have that "soul" in their finger tips, it doesnt matter if they only hit a single note with no nuance, the note comes out inspired.
You are such a good teacher. I already learn bunch of stuffs and skill but still I'm going back back to basics. Those essential teniques helps alot and make more good guitar player. Nice PPaps!
Here I was looking for every lick in the world and when I watched this video it just made me think about every single tips you have given. THANKS A LOT MAN.
Wise words indeed.....where have you been all my guitar playing life Lol Extremely useful, to the point and actually helpful to all guitar students, a great vid.
Hii I am from India and just subscribed your channel. Well, I have been playing guitar for several years now. I am self-taught, so progress is slow naturally. This is one of the best soloing tips I have ever heard, not too much technical mumbo-jumbo short and solid. These are some of the conceptions I was lacking and I sounded very muddy. Thanks a lot brother. Looking forward for much more helpful stuff like this from you. Stay safe and healthy.
Thank you for you kind comment Kanad. I'm very glad to help, that's why I made the video! I hope, one day to visit your beautiful country! Lot's of love from Ireland!
This is for me the best guitar instruction on YT. There are many great teachers, but Guitar Pilgrim speaks to my level, is very inspiring and easy to understand. Some people are great players, and some are great teachers To be both is rare! Guitar Pilgrim is that rare person who embodies both traits.

Great lesson!
BB was so good in phrasing and silence because he used all pauses to smile to all these girls in public ;)
What BB King song was used in this video
I feel Paul David vibes here
Haha same
Ya , weird european accent lol
But he is way better.
100% haha "Listen to great -Players- RUclipsrs & take their tricks & turn them into your own"
Beat me to it! LOL
Whenever he says “don’t do this type of solo”
*I WISH I WAS GOOD ENOUGH TO DO THE BAD SOLOS*

'Specific pleasant energy'. THAT'S what my guitar playing's been lacking! No wonder the other guys in the band get all the girls.
A Master Jedi, I would say!
Honestly, one of the first ‘tips’ video that had very useful tips that were all very well explained.
A natural teacher. You get the message across superbly, and you can play. Thank you.
I wholeheartedly agree with that statement. And he has such passion and enthusiasm for teaching. It’s really beautiful and inspiring. Must agree, so helpful showing "Bad" examples with good.

I were just thinking of what word should I use to describe this lesson and you nailed it, thanks
Man, these Dutch guys sure do master English well.

@Pete is never wrong F''''''k me dead your right!
I am a drummer who also likes guitars. The breathing method is important for playing the guitar. It is the same as a drum.I support you from Japan.
Q. Waddya call a guy who hangs round musicians?
A. A drummer.
Sorry. Couldn't resist. ✌️🇦🇺
The way you speak is very soft and calm , you made me watching the whole video only by your narration ! Great video by the content too
Excellent stuff, thanks Pilgrim, one of my fav Clapton albums...great delivery.....on vocal and guitar!
He talks like he is telling you to play
BootzTV indeed
Lol I watched at 75% speed first time to finish and I agree.. LOL
Kinda sounds like Robin Williams giving a lesson.

Noted! 🙏
Bernd Dorst B.B. King once said something like this
Bernd Dorst well said 👏🏽👏🏽
Eddie Van Halen has a weird human conversations then...
I just found this guy. 3 vids in a row. Wow.. A great player, and great tips! Thanks man!

First time I've ever seen anyone play BB King stuff and actually sound like him
That's what I thought from the 1st note
Real good if you think of that he has single coils while B.B had humbuckers.
Amen. That sounded more like BB than almost anyone else who tries to play like him.
listen to Chris Cain
@@aeondream Great advice. Chris Cain is a superb blues player. But I think that Cain's version of BB King is slightly more "Cain" than it is "BB." In contrast, this video's BB impression is both less original (the player puts less of himself into it) and more accurate as a replica of BB's tone, rhythm, dynamics, and style.
Great Players who use these principles
1. Start Simple: B.B. King
2. Phrasing: Billy Gibbons and David Gilmour
3. Dynamics: Buddy Guy and SRV
4. Vibrato: Gary Moore and Angus Young
5. Repetition: Mark Knopfler
6. Mix It Up: Wes Montgomery and Django Reinhardt
Another notable master of repetition (in a good way) is Tony Iommi, most of his songs go around those iconic riffs, building up throughout the song.
Best at all of these? Derek trucks
That's crazy, I was thinking Mark knopfler when he was playing the repetition part.
Good list: to get that classic Knopfler repetition, have a listen to the "Telegraph Road" solo
Santana is the king of repetition, I bet 90% of players could sing you his trade mark repeated licks in Oye Como Va or Black Magic Woman!
The best parts of all my guitar solos are the notes I don't play
Yep..."More between the lines"...!
Ha
I watch this video once a month to refresh these concepts. This is community service man, thanks a million

Best breakdown of soloing I've ever seen. Nice. Brought together all the stuff I've learnt into one neat package. Cheers for the share brother.
the BB KIng solo is from "Worry, Worry, Worry" from "Live in the Cook County Jail". Possible BB's best playing. Excellent choice!
Hell yeah!!!!
where is cook county jail?
Cook county is the county surrounding Chicago. BB playing a fee concert there for everyone locked up the and recorded an album of the performance. It might be the best blues album ever recorded. I know that’s a strong statement, but it’s also an awesome album.
I was pulling your leg a little bit. Cook County is where I grew up. Chicago, not the jail!
must have heard some great blues growing up there
