Seventy years old and I have taken countless guitar lessons and still can't play to save my life but I still play for my own enjoyment from time to time. Over the years I have learned many things but never one song in its entirety, by the time I learn it I am done with ever hearing it again but love just fooling around with sounds and positions and skills. I have to say I enjoy your videos and your compassion and knowledge and it gives me more directions I can go to improve my ear and listening powers. I may never play to the public again but it gives me a wonderful time for myself when I do play and try to learn new techniques you have learned so quickly in your life. In short, I am trying to say thank you for sharing your knowledge so unselfishly you are one of the few that deserve to be called a professional teacher.
What a lovely comment! I am happy to help!
Great comment & I totally and absolutely agree! Couldn't have said it any better!
Keep up the playing and give us a video . Cheers . ✨✨✨🎸✨✨✨🏆🇺🇸🇨🇦🇫🇴
78, going on 79, and I share your pain.
Got cha brother…….75 here and relate to what you say !!
You're such a fine guitarist. I think you could just about play anything you wanted to, & always to an impeccable standard. Never a sloppy note or pick. Your vids are always very enjoyable.
Well said 👍
Hi Pilgrim, I love that dark color and the grain on that telecaster, never seen one like it, very special and a nice idea for a video.
Great that you included Scotty Moore - he often gets overlooked.
You are an amazing musician!
I didn't say just an amazing guitarist, I said amazing musician.
This is pure “craft distilate”. I wish YT had a “show me this everyday” feature. There’s so much inspiration here. Thank you so much, man. Big big fan
The Scotty approach is the most musical, and consequently sounds the most beautiful. Hendrix's tricks sound the coolest though.
Huge bang for the buck in an 11:35m video. Wow thank you.
No shredding on this channel. Another reason to subscribe and follow. Not to mention the soulful playing. Well done, as usual. Keep up the good work. Deeply appreciated.
5150 at the end there Pilgrim, so many good players including you, thanks 👍
Some great ideas.. as usual 😀 Fave bit of dynamics for BB King is in the last minute or two of 'The Thrill Is Gone' at Montreux in 1993... There's a long period of very quiet playing.. he hits a couple of harder notes.. his trademark 'spike' and slide... and then he stands and rips into it... That is really goosebumps f'me... 🤩
Awesome love your outro riff! EVH RIP!
You're a muse my guy, you speak through the guitar and you speak it well
Your point about dynamics gave me a new insight into my current favorite guitar player, Ronnie Earl.
I've been stuck on your hendrix rhythm video for the last week, picking up bits I love and trying to perfect them. This video is perfect for what I need next. Thank you
All your videos are amazing!! Thanks!!! you make me grab my guitar everytime you upload one!
ALWAYS one of the best channels....
the greatest Guitar Teacher on RUclips.
😅
Another incredible video. Love your channel always and your passion for music. Great cover of the song 5150 at the end.
That was just terrific Thom! Your grasp of how other guitarist play is truly amazing! Hope that all is well with you & your family! Thanks....
Alweer een top demonstratie en een waardevolle schat aan onmiskenbare gitaar loopjes.
heerlijk Tele geluid ook!
Dankjewel Thom
Great video. Keep em coming
Thanks a ton Thom. To hear the different styles from the masters (played by another master....) is simply amazing. It really brought home how different players approach their playing. So humbling, yet so very inspiring. Peace.
This is just excellent in so many ways. Thanks. Just the perfect amount of info and demonstration.
Excellent video. Thanks for sharing 👌
Really useful content as always, thanks for another great video
Simply the very best guitar channel on RUclips!
I just love the tone of that Telecaster. Great video.
Thank you, for the great lesson , it's refreshing to have more than one approach to playing thank you . So pleased to see the other great guitarist by the name of Moore being mentioned, Elvis would be pleased.
Great tips Thom. Thank you for posting

Super interesting stuff and a fresh take and well packaged, good job man
Great. As always
Every time I watch and listen to you I get motivated. You are fantastic at demonstrating the greats. At the end of the day just play the guitar with feeling. You are smooth at nailing it!
What a great idea bucket! So many great tips. Thanks!❤

Easy to follow with your examples.
And that Tele has a cranking sound.

Double stops just sound cool! Great video as usual!
Genial, buenos licks para tomar prestados de genios que han aportado tanto a la música. Gracias maestro, me encanta cómo lo explicas ; - )
That's a beauty guitar. And it sounds wonderful. Good for you!
Cool, I used many of the riffs you play but never really understood where they came from. Love it. Keep practicing 🙂
Thank you!
Great Stuff Brother ~
such a beautiful tele!
Nice video, thank you🙏
A great guitar demystifying video!
du spielst erstklassig 👍👍👍 Respekt !!!
Wow… and a what a gorgeous tele’. Fantastic stuff!
Wonderful lesson. Btw. that Paoletti is gorgeous.
Your observation about the genius (my word) of BB King's dynamics is so well made. Buddy Whittington is a fine, long established rock and blues player who is also a master of dynamics, and for mine is deserving of much more attention.
i agree by far when it comes to the most who changed the way we look at the fretboard. jimi hendrix. his blueprint in playing licks combining the scale and chords to come up with the melody. no one ever thought about that until he came and changed guitar playing forever.
Great lesson of practical tips and soulful playing, thank you for sharing! Any advice on how you get your outrageous guitar tone would also be greatly appreciated.
Großartig!👏👍🎸🎶👊
This is brilliant.
great lesson and playing!! 👍
....and man that is the coolest Tele on the planet imo.
Interesting and good! 👍
Gewoon weer top. Je hebt die gitaar gehouden dus. Wat een top ding.
What a fantastic video have a good weekend ❤❤❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊😊😊
It HAS to be fun to be you! Because it is greatly entertaining and inspiring to watch/listen to you. And to think guitar is just One of your great talents! Stay Well Groovy One!
Any lesson that starts with Mick Taylor has got to be good!
Thanks for sharing this very good lesson! Your guitar looks awesome. Cheers from Indonesia.
Terimah casih!
great video! and best part at 11:09 🤘
Hello! You are such a monster player and so versatile. I love your videos. I always marvel at the fluidity of your strumming hand, and notice how you hold the pick is different than others.
Would you ever consider doing a video on your strumming style? I would really appreciate that inside look.
Cheers.
Good idea, i'll think about it
That guitar shure sounds nice 👍🎸
I have enjoyed so many of your videos and have learned from them. What brand of guitar are you using? It looks really nice
Owww a Top Ten - what are your thoughts on Freddy King , Jeff Beck , Ritchie Blackmore, Mike Okdfield & Leslie West? ..
Anyway : it’s always a joy to hear and listen to your explanation . Your kids are playing air guitar as well?
Very Nice:)
Thank you.
Great unicorn!!!.💪🏽😎👍🏽🖤🖤
Great, I would add some Johnny guitar Watson's famous funky tricks !
Great!
Amazing sound as usual! What about that Paoletti??
That's a sweet guitar, man
So obvious when you point it out.... great video as always!
Eddie Hazel, Michael 'kid funkadelic' Hampton, Hubert Sumlin ❤
waou I love that guitar!
Nice to see you!!
I think I’m in love with your guitar a lil bit..
Jimi page plays a solo in 'the weight' with jack white and the edge. No demos on it on here - love to see your take on it
If you ever want to sell that Paoletti I’m your guy. It’s stunning. Visually and sonically. I contacted them after I saw your vid and they just don’t have any others w that beautiful wood grain.
That Mick Taylor lick is the beginning of Hideaway by Albert King.
I love your Telecaster 🤤
Thom, Pl do a similar lesson focused on rhythm guitar tricks!
Damn, Leo Fender got it right fitst time out. Telecaster is most versatile guitar out there; simplicity with infinite electronics permutations.
Everyone says SRV was influenced by Albert King, but you can hear a lot of Buddy Guy in his sound too.
Great Video! Love your Channel! What Song is that in the Endcard? Sounds very nice! Is there any Tab for that? 😜 Greeting from Germany✌
Its s van halen riff 5150
Good sounds and information. What’s the make and model of your guitar?
Great reference video to bookmark and come back to, thanks.
Btw, I noticed your pick is triangular and has some holes. Is it custom-made, if not what brand is it? I have done a similar thing to my pick for a better grip.
As great as this video was, it is pretty jaw dropping that you fade out into one of Eddie Van Halen's most difficult intro riffs. I hope there is more to come.
That’s a sweet guitar……what make and year is it?
You’re making it scream brother 🤘🏿
It's probably a custom build. I'm curious what the woods of the body and fretboard are. That's a beautiful grain on that body.
It's chestnut from old Italian wine barrels as far as I know. @@catsofsherman1316
Wow nice telecaster body!
