Digital television is now standard and offers many advantages: razor-sharp images, vivid colours, the sound quality that you would expect at the cinema and more channels to choose from. These are the reasons why the demand for analogue television has declined significantly.
For this reason, upc cablecom has decided to switch off analogue television step by step and is looking forward to being able to offer all of its customers higher quality digital TV in the future. In the video, we explain step by step what you need to know about the digital switchover.

So they are leaving many digital cable channels in the clear. Here in America most cable companies are or are going to be 100% encrypted.
Dick Johnson We have a standard in Europe which says that TV sets must have a slot for a smartcard which is able to descramble pay TV channels. By the way my cable company offers an unencrypted package of about 50 or 60 digital channels (about 15 in HD) and an also unencrypted analog simulcast of 21 channels for older TVs and as far as I know, they sell cable boxes, so you don't have to pay a monthly fee for it.

This is nothing. Just watch that DTV test with the raccoon puppet. Its the white static hissing sound and the raccoon just walking around the screen looking at you...he then goes to talk about how if you see him, you are not DTV ready. He walks away, and then, BAM, JUMPSCARE! He just jumps in and is like, "Switch now! Didn't you hear me?".
