    Thanks for the information! I had a hysterectomy 3 weeks ago and my healing process was exactly like you described. Very reassuring!

      Glad to see you are feeling better! The fatigue can be big for some. Usually at this point, I would recommend starting to increase activity as long as you are staying within the restrictions. It will help with the fatigue long term. But as always check with your Surgeon.

    Had my hysterectomy four days ago. Everything was good. No bowel prep, had clear liquids, and went home the same day. They gave me a pain block. I kept ovaries. I was fine until day three with constipation. So then I took laxatives and that was horrible. Had diarrhea the rest of the day. Slept and tonight I went for a walk. I’m tired but feeling fine otherwise.
    I did have some terrible back pain. Hoping everyday is a little better. I really hate opioids so went off those after two days. Everything went pretty well otherwise!

    Hi, I just had my hysterectomy 5 weeks ago and I feel very fine since day two. I’m actually walking 6 miles per day and feel great. Is it possible that I’m pushing my body too hard and not feeling it?

    My operation is coming up soon and it seems like there is a wild amount of women writing about cuff tears (I guess that's the suture?). It almost sounds like a common occurrence and an pretty high risk. However, according to my gynecologist it's very rare and they never even heard of the term. It's quite terrifying, especially because these women often say they were not informed of the risk and how common it is. Can you shine some light on this? What % of women actually experience this and can you prevent it?

    • @newschoolobgyn
      @newschoolobgyn  11 дней назад +1

      Luckily, this is extremely rare! Maybe 1%. Sticking to your restrictions, especially no vaginal penetration. But I wouldn’t let this concern you too much!

      Yes it can help some people. With minimally invasive surgery, it’s needed less but may be nice to have on hand for the first few days after surgery. Best for when you are moving!

    These videos have been great prep to watch before my surgery, thank you! I am two days post op, off the meds, and walking two laps down the hallway of my condo building every two hours. I am feeling really good except for the giant gas bubble that seems to be rolling around my abdomen causing more pain than anything in my pelvic area at this point! 🎈

    Thank you so much for doing this series. I'll have my procedure soon. I thought i would've been grossed out by the surgery videos but they were actually helpful. One of the things my doctor mentioned is dissecting the fibroid because it was too large to be removed vaginally. Not sure if you've touched on that in other videos. Thanks again 🙏🏽.

    • @newschoolobgyn
      @newschoolobgyn  3 месяца назад

      Thank you! And we are happy it helped. Yes sometimes the uterus or fibroids are so big we need to make it smaller to remove it and keep the surgery minimally invasive. We call this morcellation and it can be done in a number of ways! I will try and touch on it soon in the videos

      @@mar8888 Yep, this is why we put uterus or fibroids into a bag, so that every single microscopic piece of the specimen is removed 🙂 this way the 1 in 10,000 risk of undetected uterine cancer doesnt spread to the body. Since I have been practicing, we have been doing contained morcellation. Im very happy it is done this way, to avoid this very sad situation. I should make a video on this to help show how its done🙃
