I'm a Chicago Cub fan but back in my youth we had neighbors who were White Sox fans and every year from about 1961 through 1964 we had seats right behind the White Sox dugout at old Comiskey Park to see the Yankees. Mantle, Maris ,Berra, Ford, Howard. Great players all. I'm blessed that I got to see them play.

As a young boy "The Mick" was my idol..He,Yogi and the boys were so much fun to watch..Most people hated the Yankees because they won every year..But I loved them..They showed what it took to win..

@Brian T - yeah I heard of Bonds & McGuire & Sosa. They all used drugs to enhance their performance , all three are subpar players next to Maris. That record still belongs to Roger & it shall remain that way until someone comes along that can break the record without performance enhancement drugs.

Mick hits a walk off homer to win a World Series game he runs the bases doesn’t look at the pitcher it may as well been a regular season game in June. Todays ball players jump up and when they hit a Homer when their team is down 10-0 lol

They seemed to have forgotten to include the 1958 Yankees that beat the Milwaukee Braves in the 1958 world series and the San Francisco Giants in the 1962 world series.
I grew up in New York City and am a lifelong Yankee fan. I have now lived in Miami, Florida for about 19 years. When Yankee haters here say that I should root for the Marlins I tell them they're out of their minds. Since I've been a Yankee fan I've been alive to watch the Yankees win 9 of their 27 world championships.
It would be like me stopping being a Beatles fan and all the sudden listen to K pop. The Beatles of course are the world's greatest band.

I was a Dodger fan starting in 1959. I watched the game in person when the Dodger drew one of the biggest if not the biggest crowds in baseball history at the Coliseum. If I recall it was a double header and the Dodgers lost both games. Around 70 thousand I think.. Long time ago.

Score said 'Mantle' and remarked that tho Ichiro could fly, it wasn't that close

Mantle said the DiMaggio waited until the last moment to call for the ball and that’s why he had to stop so suddenly and caught his spikes in the open drain. DiMaggio didn’t tell Mantle to make the catch. Stengel had told Mantle to take anything hit between him and DiMaggio because Joe couldn’t run very well by 1951.

It’s a common misconception that the Yankee dynasty ended in 1965 because all their best players suddenly got old at the same time. It simply is not true! The 1965 Yankees were not an old team at all. The Yankees collapse was caused by serious injuries to their star players - not to age at all! Consider: in the 1965 season, Mantle was 33, Maris 31, Richardson 30, Boyer 29, Kubek 28, Tresh 25, Pepitone 24. Howard was 37, the oldest refuting player. The starting pitchers were Ford 36, Bouton 26, Downing 24, Stotlemeyer 24. An old team? Hardly. And this was the same starting lineup that won the pennant in 1964. So what happened between 1964 and 1965? Simple. Howard, Maris, Kubek, Mantle all seriously injured and none would really recover. In 1966, Ford and Bouton were also injured and they fell to last place.

Years later I heard an interview that Bobby Richardson gave and he suggested it wasn't surprising that the 65 team went in a downward crash he really felt "looking back" that the '64 team-which fell out of 1st place for a time-was not that good but the veterans know how to win.
