    I have just this 4 speed version, I live in Driffield in the East Riding (can't get much more rural). It's on a CTW scheme and I use it to hike all my work kit (laptop etc) right to my desk in the office in Beverley. Car then bike or bike train bike. It's such a fun bike, I am planning some holiday adventures this summer :)

    Please Brompton, just give us a 3 speed hub Brompton, with or without electric motor, black parts, Ti parts, fancy racks, sparkly colours, hollow rivets, smaller and smaller luggage options … just a nice simple 3 speed hub for all of us non cyclists who just want to ride our bikes every day for commuting, leisure, allotment duties, shopping, touring …

    • @frankhooper7871
      @frankhooper7871 7 месяцев назад +1

      Got to agree. I much prefer hub gears over derailleur. I've got a three-speed manual Brompton with a wide-ratio hub and a six-speed electric - on the electric, I really only ever use the hub gears, so basically it's a three-speed.

    • @redsorgum
      @redsorgum 7 месяцев назад +2

      Yep, a simple three speed hub, with the option of putting a smaller front sprocket just in case you live in a more hillier neighborhood, and you need lower gearing. ✌️

    I wish they would do a 6 speed with the new cassette. Actually, why not go with an 8, 9, or 10 speed? Maybe you don't need more than a 4 speed with the e-bike, but I would really love at least an 8 or 9 speed with the non E-bike version. Lots of steep hills where I ride.

  • @markotrieste
    @markotrieste 7 месяцев назад +5

    I feel that the aperture of the 6 speed is already to small, sometimes I long for a shorter gear, going to the four speed will be even worse. Also, the double gear shift 1-2-3 and +/- is quite fun.

  • @NickMackenzieMD
    @NickMackenzieMD 6 месяцев назад +1

    Wow, I am so glad I got the 6 speed. I got it on sale at REI in USA. Real good price. Brompton must have sold off a bunch of their inventory to REI when they went to the 4 speed. I really lucked out since I live in a hilly area of California and use all six gears.

  • @AaronPinero
    @AaronPinero 7 месяцев назад +8

    I’m very disappointed they are removing the 6 speed option. The 4 speed doesn’t have enough gear range. The 6 is the best option. The lack of a wider gearing option is one thing that keeps me from embracing the P line.

    • @brilliantbikes
      @brilliantbikes  7 месяцев назад +1

      So far I have been impressed with the P line gearing range, and looking forward to trying the electric, but I think I might struggle on big hills on the manual. Thanks for watching!

      Sorry, naive question: why you need more gears if the motor will do the climbing work and the acceleration work for you anyways?

    • @AaronPinero
      @AaronPinero 4 месяца назад

      The wider gear range is preferable on a non-electric bike or when your battery dies or when riding the Brompton electric unpowered. It just makes the bike more versatile.

  • @Druidus98
    @Druidus98 7 месяцев назад +6

    Sometimes the decisions taken by Brompton are somewhat mysterious. Why abandon the C-Line electric 6 gear version? Not everyone is living in a complete flat city. Give the people a choice. What s the problem with a 4 gear version and a 6 gear version at the same time? Thanks for clarifying the news in your video.

    Thanks for the video, its very infomative. I tried this new 4 speed electric today and was amazed - seemed so much smoother ride than my more than over a year old brompton electric? I am just wondering if it's been so much improved or it would feel more or less the same after a year of every day riding... Only thing I dont like - the chain seems to be so low to the ground to compare to the older model, can it be adjusted or it is like this and that's it.

      I live in a hilly region and regularly downshift to 2 and even 1 on every ride with my C Line Electric. On hills I also make use of the -/+ gear sift as well so perhaps it just depends on the terrain where the rider rides most of the time. I could use the electricity to compensate of course but that would reduce my range.

    Interesting, frankly for the electric versions 6 speed with hub gears is the way to go. Especially since there is not much of a weight savings.
    On a slightly different note i would imagine that the non-electric versions the lightest would be the S bar, followed by the M Bar and then the H bar.

      Good point about the handlebars. Over the holidays I went to a bike shop nearby that sells Bromptons, just to see which handlebar setup felt best...for my prefered upright riding style, the High handlebars were best, esp when slightly tilted towards me... though the seat was awful unless the body was tilted forward, so when I get a Brompton, it will need a seat for upright riders.

You have to find the classic bolt and disc (circle shaped). The problem is : I can't find a place where I can order ONLY the bolt AND disc rather than the whole suspension block or ONLY the bolt !
