I had the non chrono version that was in the movie Interstellar and absolutely loved it. I sold it and instantly regretted it so I went to go buy it again but then saw that they had this version and couldn't believe it's beauty. I will be purchasing this watch. It's fit and finish punches way above it's weight and while I was going to order the Breitling Avenger ll GMT I think I'll just save myself a couple grand and be more than satisfied with this gorgeous piece. Excellent review!
I have the Interstellar variant of this watch, the Pilot Day Date. Unfortunately, it’s with Swatch warranty repair right now as the H-40 movement quit working three weeks after I brought it home. Stuff happens, unfortunately. For some bizarre reason I bought it from an AD so it’s covered by Hamilton’s two years warranty. Yay. As for the reviewed watch itself, it’s a really interesting modern take on the Baumuster B flieger design. Some manufacturers refer to as a type C dial, even though that was never a category with the original WWII Beobachtungsuhrs. I do appreciate the AR coating underneath the crystal, which helps reduce reflections - a real issue with the Khaki Automatic I once owned. This chronograph version is also quite interesting and a worthy competitor to the Pilot chronos from German manufacturers such as Laco, Archimede, and Stowa. The thickness is a function of the chunky 7750-based movement and something that one has to tolerate. Nice review, Dave, and great production values, too!
Too bad not antimagnetic. Love the watch though. Competitor to iwc spitfire at a fraction of the price and still cheaper while being comparable to watches like the Sinn, Laco, Tutima, etc. They did put the lug pins too close to the case though, making some straps and bracelets impossible to fit. Let me also add that that date pusher gets stuck after some time, but luckily the movt still has the old thing where you can quickly move the time between certain hours to advance the date. Not as quick as quickset but it works. Another gotcha is that I have to set the minute hand a half minute ahead so that it catches up and then the minutes match the minute ticks on the dial. Without doing that it tells time at the half minute marks which is annoying, to say the least. Other than that, love the watch. I have to start thinking about sending it to the local Swatch service center (Secaucus, NJ) for full service.
So close to buying this, but I’ve never owned an automatic chronograph. How often should I run the chronograph so that it stays lubed up and functional?
I accidentaly dropped this watch last month and still working fine..few weeks later it was dead some parts detached like the screw and small part separated.. dont know how much it will cost to repair it.
@@DavesWatchLove I have it repaired at the Hamiton authorized dealer where I bought the watch and it was free of charge even though it was already out of warranty.

Long time, no post! Thankful for the new video!
My favorite chrono watch, I like it more than a rolex daytona or others, the most beautifull for me
These are becoming an obsession for me..

I also had the pilot day date. I'm curious what happened to yours that caused you to get warranty work done?
Agreed, wonderful review! Look forward to more!
I own one myself. This is one of few watches that looks much better in person. Also, a leather strap is a must.
Awesome review Dave. Informative and insightful as always brother. BRAVO AGAIN.
Great informative review and history overview. I own the non-chrono version of this watch. One of my favorites in my small Hamilton collection.
I have the Hamilton Khaki X wind chronograph it is one of my favorite watches I own
The rose gold edition is one on my list to get next. It's a great looking watch.
Great review. One thing I need to mention is that the movement is a slightly modified Valjoux 7753 not a 7750.
Too bad not antimagnetic.

Good review. Does it feel as thick on your wrist as the Marathon GSAR?

I think if you ran it at least once a month, you'd be okay. I can't help but playing with it, so that's not a problem for me. :)
Whats the size of the case?.and how much is price
42mm about $950. H64666735
