Moody Blues - Never Comes The Day (1970)

- The Moody Blues singing "Never Comes The Day" in 1970 in Paris. I think this song sounds live to me. But that's just me. About 3:20 in this song Justin sings "But she will love me tonight" That is another thing that makes me think it is live vocals to this song of Justin's...! Just my two cents. Peace. I still love this song anyway. Enjoy. MoodiesFan:-)
Nothing today comes close to the musicians I had growing up in the 60’s and 70’s
MUSIC
I’m a 2nd Generation Moody Blues fan. When I was old enough to appreciate them, out came Long Distance Voyager. Much as Mike Pinder’s keyboard wizardry was missed, Patrick Moraz did a wonderful job.
RIP, Mr. Pinder, Ray Thomas, Graeme Edge, Denny Laine and Clint Warwick. I am glad we still have Justin Hayward and John Lodge.
exactly
The RIGHT Band in the RIGHT place at the RIGHT time. Never comes the Band that can replace these fellows. A singularity in music.
One of the most beautiful voices in rock history.
After Neil Young,that is surely??
@@geraldwalsh6489 Eh? You’re having a laugh 😮😅😅
I can't get enough of Justin's beautiful voice
likely these guys, a good dog and a lotta love saved my life after Vietnam. They helped heal my broken heart and soul. :-) TRUE TALE!!
Bless you!
Thank You Jerry for serving our Country.......Your post brought tears to my eyes......May God Bless You!
Jane Anne Marriott :-) LONG AGO AND FAR AWAY! THANK YOU JANE
Thomas Williams AND YOU THOMAS... :-) MANY THANKS!!! BLESSINGS BROTHER...
I believe they helped heal a lot of broken hearts and souls - probably more than the band would like to admit. I'm glad yours was one of them. Thank you for your service. I hope you're sitting comfortably watching a fleet of golden galleons on a crystal sea.
Great vocalist - no Moody's without him. Justin Hayward.
Best of all time. No other band is a close match! The Moody Blues are mysterious, Deep, other worldly, harmonizing, heavenly.
I love the Moody Blues, but there are bands that are close or better. The Beatles, Pink Floyd, and Queen come to mind that are as good or better.
Queen! You are joking. A pop group.
Early Genesis, a unique object that split into many directions.@@imkluu
Your comment is a great way to describe the magic of the Moody Blues.
Threshold of a dream introduced me to these guys while a freshman at college in 1969. Transcendental!!
give just a little bit more, take a little bit less from each other tonight... beautiful. This song literally brings tears to my eyes. Lifelong Moody.
Yes and your post made me cry.😊
God Justin Hayward was an Adonis. So beautiful physically and a great songwriter. This captures what they were like live. I saw them at least 9 times and they were always fantastic. His voice was like something from heaven. They provided the soundtrack to my life and it was a symphony. Thank you Moody Blues!
Totally under rated band , hardly ever hear them on the radio... Justin is magnificent
In awe of these guys after all these years…….along with Justin’s pitch perfect voice
I had just come back from Vietnam, and since they were playing in town just after my arrival, my dear parents went and bought me a ticket to see them.. This would have been around April 1971. They've been my absolute favorite band since then..
lvsluggo007 I envy you seeing them live my Brother. Welcome home !
lvsluggo007 I spent 13 months at a remote site 75 miles due West of North Vietnam. Welcome home brother!
+lvsluggo007 Thanks for your service to our nation. Welcome home, soldier.
When I returned from Vietnam a fellow grunt turned me on to the first two albums and I was an immediate fan.To this day I listen to the Moody Blues all the time. They are like religion to me.They have helped through the turmoil of the Vietnam War to this day.Their music has helped me with my PTSD for all these years. The put me in a special place and time in my life.God bless these special musicians for helping me cope with all the BS that has happened in my life.I love all you guys very much thank you for the wonderful music that has helped me though out my life.
@@terryward5278 ....ù571...thx 4 your service....you an all our brave men/women/ and dogs having just read about a dog who save servicemen.....great band too ..loved since I was teen....be safè dear sir /everyone
My only regret is that I never saw them live back in the early 70’s. Have seen them many times since the late 70’s but never with Pinder. They were magical with him.
I did see them around 1970. We didn’t have any weed and we were bummed, but we sat next to people who shared their’s with us. It was glorious.
Well, all cuteness aside, he's still the most underrated voice of our time. And I really think he's found the answers to the questions.
Yep
Absolutely right, his voice is magic. Xx
And he is still cute now and has still got the voice.
but have WE found the answers yet? thats the all important Question isn't it?
Cuteness indeed. He's got one of the most beautiful faces in all of rock music.
Oh this is love. Justin's voice is so earnest. All the time
anyone who has been in a deep love, understoods this horrible loss. Each time I hear this song,it makes my heart cry...💔
I feel her sighing as the evening slips away, if only you knew what's inside of me now, you wouldn't want to know me somehow, but, you will love me tonight, everything will be alright, in the end..💕💕💕.. Oh how that resonate's in my life, love, is the best feeling of warmth, Thank You for this lovely 🌹🌹 song...🥀🥀🥀🥀...2022..
I'm 65 now but was 20 then I hope this music lives on
As long as there is a heart and soul; this song will be the backdrop.
yep..70 years of age Love Love Love them, got me through so very hard, heart times back then.. seen in person twice. Awesome...Love the hall of Fame full concert..video watch it...
We are the same age.
Me too.
Hate the crap that passes for music now. This is beyond gold
What gifts we've been given in our Moodys!💝💯♾🌹
Simply beautiful! The song, "Never Comes The Day", Justin's singing....1970, I was age 18!
I saw them in St. Louis at the Arena on Dec. 10 1970 and it was the Question of Balance tour. It was my very first concert and I was 16 years old. My sister took me and we had front row center seats and it was a sold out show. There wasn't one vacant seat in the house. Something I'll never forget. Thank you sis, I love you, RIP
I grew up with the Moody Blues. There isn't any music like this any more. They are such a classy group and make the best music. The concert at Red Rocks was the greatest, they have such a great time together.
When I was 18 in1968 the first time Moodys now at 71 I appreciate them even more. I got back from Vietnam in 1971 there music helped heal my soul of all the tragedies of war. My father said he didn’t recognize me.
This live version demonstrates Hayward's vocals at their best!
You will love me tonight in the end!!!!! Yes, it's trure.Work away today, think about tomorrow, never come's a day for my love and me.. My teenage year's come to ight with this beauty of this song...🥀🥀🥀🥀...
They were magnificent performing live. Wonderful band,so talented.
the haircuts, the clothes, the voices, the music. all perfect.
I fell in love in 1970 and he always played the Moody Blues. Really miss him... Finding this now is lovely.
Magic has a melody!
Definately one of the greatest Moody concerts ever!! Those lucky lucky Parisians!!
A beautiful song, an underrated classic.
Rest in peace, Graeme Edge.
During the early years of my life, the Moodys kept me alive. I named my only son Justin. Now, many years later...their misic still soothes the sadness of my son leaving and me not knowing where. Goddess how I love these guys. And how I miss you my son....
Debi Brown I also named my only son Justin. He's 35 now and is a rocket scientist. I love him dearly and am so proud of him, because he is a good man. I am sorry to hear that your son has left. That must be incredibly hard for you. The Moody Blues music has helped me craft a philosophy for life that is a major part of who I am today. I have been to 28 MB concerts since 1972 and I still get emotional every time I listen. It is timeless, relevant stuff. If only the youth of today would stop and listen....
I'm so jealous of both of you! My husband would have had a cow if I would have tried to name my son Justin! lol! There's no way I would have ever heard the end of it! Name our son after some rock star? Are you kidding me?! hahaha! His name is Dustin James, instead. lol! (If I would have suggested Justin, hubby #1 would have known exactly what I was doing... XDDD)
*****
So you named him after a film star instead of a rock star.
Tara McSparron There's a film star named Dustin James? I was unaware. I just chose the name Dustin. i had my girl's name picked out, with initials DJ. It took awhile to pick out a middle name.
Debi Brown I named my only son Justin as well 1979
This footage is precious.
Big change since 1968. A bit more polished. Justin’s voice has stood the test of time. He is touring the US in 2023.
Just saw him and his group 4/13/2024 here in Orlando, FL. Still great, very glad I went. I'm 73 and took my 16 year old Daughter, Mariana. What's special is that she discovered the Moody Blues on her own! So it was a meaninful night for the 2 of us. Thanking God.
I'll be seeing him this weekend in so cal. Second time there since Covid. His voice really has hung in there.
One of the great bands of all time!
Yes, it's live and open forum. As smooth, and flawless as ever. Justin is at his best, as is the entire band...always my favorite band. Love about everything they have ever done!!
I was born when they were making days of future past. This band I have seen twice but since high school, they have been the soundtrack to my life, and to anyone that has even vaguely said, they kept you alive god how that pierced my soul, so true, you all are comrades and brothers and sisters.
I absolutely love the Moody Blues. Best progressive rock band ever.
Another of their incredible songs performed beautifully.
Oh how I love this version of Never Comes the Day. Justin's vocals are definitely live and so very fine
How appropriate, "To Our Childrens, Childrens, Children" my daughter and her daughter were listening to this the other day, and loving it.
Such pure beauty
Such a beautiful song. Masterpiece.
EXCEPTIONAL!!! Exquisite. These guys work for God.
just enjoy the music, why bring a god into it? believe what you want, dont try and tell others your beliefs, they mean nothing! the music is great, ENJOY
Garry Donald, I will talk about God any damn time I want, and there's not a damned thing you can do about it. Troll off, Demon.
You are entitled to your own opinions, as am I,
Ok first you tell me not to mention God here, then you tell me that I am entitled to, so which is it? Why did you even have to stir up this negativity anyway? No one asked you! Go crawl back under your dark little rock and stay there, will you, please? This entire conversation is just totally unnecessary negativity! Go poop on your own parade! Mister Mean!
intelligent person ! aren,t you, enjoy a great band, and music, god and religion does not come into it byeeeee !!
The Moodies were just fantastic from day 1. Because they made music and produced LP's, not pop music, they hardly were on tv and their fan base grew through the undergound.
That's how I came to hear them, Lost Chord' grabbed me and that was it. Never saw them on telly and so what? They didn't need it. Great musicians all, great lyrics and production values
to die for ....Play a Moodies album, headphones and dark room ( no drugs!) and that's the
best 'high' I ever got, Live long & prosper lv
"Give just a little bit more, take a little bit less, from each other tonight".
afa78djd The words in this song are just superb. Beautiful love song.My favourite and I mean that.
Amen
Classic beautiful lyrics. The best
Absolutely wonderful song. Have been a Moodies fan since 1967, still am and always will be.
I remember college in 1969 listing to The Moody Blues LP on the floor with my headphones on. They literally took me to another dimension. Wish I was young again with this kind of music to grow with. They are by all means the most original group ever. Deep and mysterious and may I say.. gentle. Will never tire of their creative harmony.
No matter what is happening in the world around us, listening to the Moody Blues just makes you feel good. Thank you guys for your beautiful music.
Likely the most touching song ever written by the Moodies. An amazing expression of true love for someone who means more to them than anything on the earth.
+NephilimFree
thanks, yes you're likely right
Kinda agree. I don't like the chorus and the bridge, but the verses with the "work away today" have something special.
Wow, this song is one of their best’s…beautiful voice with other great voices from The Moody Blues! “ This song should’ve been on every radio everywhere!👍🎶🎵🎶👏👏👏
my mother passed away this morning. my broken heart can only hear Justin's sweet voice and the genius of moody blues......
I hope you are fully whole again....May God's Peace be with you...always.
were all just passing thru here...you will see her again don't worry....
One of the greatest bands! forever
Everyone out there,
Write them, tell them to listen to this era of their music and beg them to come back and do all of this again.
OH SHIT they were good...Better than I even remembered and I loved them then.
Greatest band ever.
Hard to believe this was 46 years ago. Seems like it was yesterday. It sounds as good now as it did then. Moody Blues favorite band.
Justin still tours. Go see him if you can. Well worth it. i'm 38 and have seen him twice over the last 2 yrs. Still sound great.
+Michael R I hear rumors one of them lives in my town in California but I've never seen him. But a lot of people say he does. And yes ill absolutely try and go see him if I can thanks.
fogologo100 That's because the work of The Moody Blues has a spiritual quality this is lost in most of today's music. Their music will remain forever captivating!
Could not have said it better..... They are amazing.
Just bought my new copy on Vinyl of the Album. To me one of the best rock albums ever. Threshold of a Dream.
I'm always amazed watching Justin's breath control as he sings.
i was raised on this band...god listening to this stuff...i think back to those cloudy days surfing huge waves and having these songs run through my head giving me my rhythum for the surf..i have so much respect for this band...this is great thanks to the person who posted this..really great...they dont make em like this anymore...the music or the people !!!
music of the angels , you can hear the angels sing along , if you listen carefully , hands down the most positive group of ALL TIME !!
One of the most underrated rock & roll bands of all time. Their music is just so beautiful!!!
Pinder has a great speaking voice. After he left the band they lost something special...they were still great though. Saw them live and was stunned at how great they sounded. It was beyond all expectations. Easily my favorite band of all time.
Love this version much better than the studio one. Moody Blues are such a great band. One of the best ever.
One of my favorite albums in my lifetime (65 years) is "BLUE JAYS" by JUSTIN HAYWARD & JOHN LODGE! 1st is NIWS, 2nd: ISOTLC, 3rd: BLUE JAYS, 4th: "Dark Side Of The Moon" by 'DUHHHHH' (Pink Floyd!), 5th: "Welcome Back My Friends,To The Show That Never Ends, Ladies and Gentlemen, EMERSON, LAKE, AND PALMER!"
True words , they said so many good things for us all.❤
Wow, the memories! Used to do this tune with a band I played with in the mid-80s. Good times!
. . . and after loving that guitar entry for 50 years, I finally worked it out on the guitar tonight.
They're finally heading into the Rock-and-Roll Hall of Fame!
yes John Lodge is lovely.
beautiful song, beautiful voice, adorable Justin Hayward, amazing MoodyBlues....
I was in high school when I discovered the Moody Blues.
They are absolutely amazing and I always get lost in their music. Still love them in 2016. The truly deserve to be the hall of fame. ♡♡♡♡♡♡♡
MB created their own unique amazing sound If there is a Heaven you would hear their music for eternity
Absolutely impossible to put them in a genre. They are the MOODY BLUES. Full stop.
I never stop loving this song. It is just so beautiful! Justin, John & the boys were so very young and so handsome. They have been blessed with such a special gift of this type of progressive rock. I pray their song goes on forever. I will be seeing Justin here again in Portland, Oregon on June 10th! I can hardly wait! He still has a beautiful voice with some blues/rock/country/progressive edge to his new album. May you sing forever. I love you guys!

Nothing like The Moody Blues --- never has been; never will be! ♥
Moody Blues in general were underrated, think they were too nice!,thank goodness they have now entered the 'Hall of fame'😊
Magical seeing them in concert will transport you !!
One of my all time favorites of our boys! Love the harmony and melody - love the part (around 4:32 ish) when Ray sings one line and Justin sings another over each other (I don't know if there's terminology for that)...just so enjoyable. I can watch (listen) over and over and over again!❤❤
Love this band since I discovered them in 1969. They were so unique for their time. I guess that's why the were categorized as progressive rock.
1972 Montreal, winter storm, drove from Burlington, Vt with friends, stoned, 12th row, timeless concert, they started with Never Comes the Day. There were no stops during the concert, just like the way they recorded the music. Transitioning into each new song. I was in tears, then... and now...thanks to RUclips and MoodiesFan. It was like yesterday....
Justin Hayward is/was just amazing. And such a beautiful song.
Great song from a a great album "Threshold of a Dream". Lots of acid flashbacks from hearing this song and album!
If those kids in the audience would have known this band would still be playing when they were entering their golden years, they would not have believed it.
❤❤sweet memories of my childhood sweetheart, now 55 years later we’re married and blessed w children & grandchildren
Justin has a Beautiful voice....love all the Moody s songs..
Oh WoW, how professionally done in a live show, love the synchronicity of this epic band. Got to see them in the late 80's, but this was the Moodies best years through the 70's.
oh yea it's live, no doubt! that is the beauty of this set of recordings. This song is perfect.
The best band of 70s 80s love them .
Justin's voice still makes all the hairs on both arms stand up! Their harmonies are heavenly...
Number one in my top ten of Moody Blues tracks.
We (the British) had to endure some dross churned out as 'pop music' in the sixties, but there were the occasional stand out groups and the Moody's certainly stand out as a great british product
Wholly an ENGLISH product.Their music is in fact quintessentially English in character.
Can't think of a single "Bad" song in Brit Pop. Saw Moody's in '69, on All Hallow's Eve, in Cobo Hall, Detroit. The mellotron was eerie and mournful. The voices transcendent.. The lights went down, the joints were lit, and a couple, both dressed in black capes, covered themselves, and begin writhing behind me, and never stopped. I was 16, and I think I almost saw my first public sex act. Concert finished, 3 encores, lights came up, and the caped crusaders left quietly, as if leaving a business lunch.
Hampshire Hog So very much contributed by amazing British musicians/songwriters, so much. Thank you for the ultra high standards and creativity which changed the world of music and many minds also.
Hampshire Hog The British invasion was something! I was a young teen and I loved it!
Listening to this video after many, many concerts and Justin Hayward solo shows still blows me away. It has always been my favorite song from their entire catalog of unbelievably great masterpieces. IMHO, the Moody Blues will always be remembered as the geniuses they were/are. They made it to the moon with Buzz Aldrin!
i did see them back in the 80s with my mom. i didn't realize how good they really were back then. i grew up with them though. my step dad loved them. if you're out there mark rick, remember me.
This is the music of my youth...I'm so glad for that.
Oh Justin, you melt my heart... You are so fine, and 🔥🔥🔥🔥!!!!! Love your voice, it's like angel's singing...🥀🥀🥀🥀...
I agree and I am a married man
Agree. and with Ray Thomas on the harmonica (and flute in other songs that night) this music is heaven.
So unusually gifted
He's a fabulous singer and person
I grew up on this band. Superb musicians with a spiritual foundation. Nothing superficial about these guys. Their music will stand the test of time. Thanks for the amazing memories!
Driving through the mountains of Colorado in the mid 70's with my brother listening to the MB & drinking a beer!
still so in love with Justin Hayward xx the band is amazing
He is a "one off" for sure. Who, can you say, is anything like him.
They were (are)GREAT!
Yes ladies There was something for everyone in that group definitely
Good quality video. Thanks for sharing it with us. ❤😊 This band decided early on to ditch the "Blues" and write and sing songs that they thought were their own style. It worked! Beautiful music. First time I'm hearing this and it's nicely done.
This song is certainly one of the best the Moodies have ever wrtten!!!!!!!!!
Deeply touching tune... I love my Moody Blues.
OMG! - does this song ever bring back a ton of wonderful memories !!!!
great video
They were such babies then. They will always be wonderful and awesome.
JH is a vision from Heaven! He looks and sounds like an angel.
