I'm a 50 year old Israeli woman who has been crying on and off since last Saturday and in rage towards my own government at the same time. These 10 minutes lifted my spirits out of the Apocalypse we're in. Hoping for better days and better leaders on both sides. We deserve better leadership.

I hope that at some point in the future Israelis and Palestinians will be able to let history be history (like the Poles/Ukrainians/Lithuanians did). I hope they realize also that it is an imperative for the future of their children. The path which both sides are on only leads to one end: the holy land being a nuclear wasteland (that technology proliferates more and more). That is an end in which no one wins. I hope you all can reconcile someday in the future. Most of the world has the same hope. There is no joy in you all killing each other, endlessly.

Israel stole their land and systematically try to erase them. Like in Gaza they are in the biggest air prison in the world. It is not really surprising that these people that got their land stolen and ethnically cleansed and imprisoned, now desperately look for radical leaders to stop this. Now they bomb Gaza even more. I know it's a complex situation. But if you just look at the land distribution and how their land shrunk and shrunk. Every rational mind knew this will backfire. And the victims are ok both sides. But 10x more on the side of Palestina. It's fucked up. But Israels actions over the last 100 years were creating this madness.

I didnt want them to spend their lives crying on and on over a home that was taken from me. Terrible for me and I was wronged, but my children needed to forge a new life without my rage and hatred. Its hard for God to place blessings in your hands if your hands are clutching rage and hatred over what someone took from you. Even though he had full majority to build the Ram Mandir he went the Constitutional route not like Netanyahu who wanted to strip supreme court of Israel to save his corruption!
Most of the Arabs have built the power by dividing the nation into Sunni and Shia and then driving the Shia out, but they have been successful.

They just use those terms because western media, et. al. understand them the way the ones using them don't. Almost every arab in the region lives under a dictatorship nobody voted for (can't criticize). They seem ok with that Gazans placed themselves under even more brutal & intolerant leadership. Their first order of business 18 years ago was to throw rival Fatah members from rooftops to their deaths. That doesn't sound like people who value freedom, rights.
The W. bank hasn't had an election for almost 20 years for fear they'll choose the same thing. Nobody's up in arms about that suppression of self-determination. Jordan's dictatorship took 78% of the planned state of palestine (as a political bribe no less). They occupy that land today, denying inhabitants (2/3 of whom are palestinian) the right to even vote on this matter. (In 71, Jordan's dictatorship killed 10s of thousands of palestinians who rightfully believed it was their land.). That's all been accepted as a nothingburger.

Its really bewildering that Yual Harini is discussing about Natanyahu's politics of diving people of Israel but not coming to the core point of the Freedom of Palestine. Amanpour referred to it and I thought there was going to be discussion on Palestinian self determination and dignity, but alas...they then drifted away. This is what I see in all Israel - Palestinian discussions. People talk about everything - Hamas. Hizbollah, Iran, US and everything else - but they do not talk about the core issue of Palestinian Freedom.

Occupying Palestine does not make a person Palestinian. The original Palestinians were Jews. These are common Arabs from the region, placed there to screw with Israel. 11.Why did the “Palestinians” never try to become independent until after the devastating defeat of invading Arab countries in the Six-Day War?

Yes, in the early 20th century, Palestine was a diverse region with a majority Arab population, including both Muslims and Christians, as well as a significant Jewish minority. The Balfour Declaration, issued by the British government in 1917, expressed support for the establishment of a "national home for the Jewish people" in Palestine. This declaration had a profound impact on the course of history in the region, leading to the creation of the State of Israel in 1948 and the displacement of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians.
The Balfour Declaration was issued during World War I, when Britain was seeking the support of Jewish communities around the world in its war against Germany. The declaration was also influenced by the Zionist movement, which was advocating for the establishment of a Jewish homeland in Palestine.
The Balfour Declaration was controversial from the start. Many Arabs opposed the declaration, arguing that it would lead to the establishment of a Jewish state in Palestine at the expense of the Arab population. The British government tried to balance the interests of the Arab and Jewish populations by promising that the establishment of a Jewish national home in Palestine would not prejudice the civil and religious rights of existing non-Jewish communities.
However, the Balfour Declaration ultimately led to the displacement of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians. In 1948, when the British withdrew from Palestine and the State of Israel was declared, many Palestinians fled their homes in fear of persecution. The Palestinian refugee crisis remains a major challenge today.
The Balfour Declaration is a complex and controversial issue with a long and lasting impact on the Middle East. It is important to understand the historical context of the declaration and the different perspectives on it in order to have a informed discussion about the issue.

Interestingly in later years it was Russia that supported the vote at the UN to continue with the the Palestine Mandatory plan at a time when the US abstained. Also if you read UN correspondence (or League of Nations) from involved parties regarding the 'Mandatory Palestine' from the particularly in the 1930s, that is quite informative regarding the events and responses of the different groups on the ground.

If you want to have productive conversation, here are the key questions in front of you:
    1) Support for the Oppressed: Are you with the oppressed or with the oppressor? The conversation can only continue if you are in support of the oppressed.
    2) Right to Defense: Does a person have the right to defend themselves if they are attacked? (Regardless of which side you support)
    3) Equality of Human Lives: Are all human lives equal in your eyes? Are innocent civilians on both sides seen as equal, or is one life valued more than another?
    4) Proportionality of the War: Has this war been proportionate, or has it been disproportionate? This one aims to highlight the imbalance in power and suffering in the conflict.
    5) Media Fairness: Has the media been fair in their coverage of the conflict? (I personally thinks it's not but curios to hear your thoughts)

    • @SN-sz7kw
      @SN-sz7kw 4 месяца назад

All good but I differ on your “proportionality” query. In the law of war, proportionality refers to the force required to achieve the objective. Not a tit-for-tat ratio. So a tactical nuke to take out an operational center would be disproportionate. But the deaths involved in striking a legitimate target using the minimally required force are not. Hamas’ use of “lawfare,” embedding it’s operations underneath an entire region with the aim to maximize casualties creates a hellish new reality. They have potentially turned the entire territory into a legitimate military target. International law has not caught up with this horrific challenge.
