After watching two other videos with pretty much the identical procedure, I watched yours: your video was so much better than the others. Rather than some annoying music you actually narrated the procedure in a very clear and helpful manner. Thanks. Seems like this is a pretty major security flaw for windows 7...
This worked , I took it slowly , plenty of use of the pause button , but it worked and I am 74 years old so quite pleased with myself , Thank you , very clearly explained and easy to follow !
thanks! 2 things to add: - if sticky keys doesn't work, click on the red button on the bottom right and check box for sticky keys - if your user name is 2 words, surround it in double quotes: net user "name1 name2" *
Wow, that's a big deal. I got all the way to the type password part and my two name 'net user' failed to produce 'type password'. I'll try again and hope it works. Thanks!
Worked flawlessly. You couldn't have provided a more simple and novice-friendly tutorial. I appreciate the help and I look forward to following your channel! (FYI for those of you reading, once you have renamed the system32 files, you can reset the passwords of additional users by simply clicking shift 5 times again and repeating the cmd prompt steps)
This is an absolutely superb tutorial, works like a charm! Much faster and effective than all other tutorials on this problem. Can't believe this hasn't got more views!
I restarted my old Sony Vaio today and haven’t used it since 2014 after I finished college. Needless to say I forgot my password. I followed all this step by step and it worked! Thank you so much! You made clear and understandable. I couldn’t believe I was able to do it, couldn’t have done so with out your video, thank you!
Thanks...I get bored and go through videos like this just to hear how people "pitch" their solution, and yours was very direct and straight-forward. Most of these are WAY too drawn-out and self-indulgent (i.e. they LOVE hearing themselves talk).
I'm the same way. I hate listening to them tell their story for 4 minutes and then start the tutorial. We try to keep it short and simple here as much as possible

I am not very good with IT, but I have tried resetting the password with a USB with different programs, it took me hours to find out I had to actually buy the software so I got frustrated and almost gave up, until I came across your video! Thank you so much for sharing your skills!
Your a lifesaver. I was able to login to my computer after trying your method. I have never changed my password to my local pc and it’s kinda complicated password but I was unable access my computer with my password. Since, I was desperate to access my pc and your method worked like a magic. Unsure if I lost few data during the process but does not matter. We appreciate your video. God bless.
i bought a Lenovo laptop with win7 on ebay for very cheap, to use OBD diagnostic, because the previous owner could not remember his password. i believe been an old machine, there was resolute and wow. your video was my resolute saving me lots of pounds..Thank u and God bless
Thank you so very much for your clear, concise instructions! We were at our wit's end trying to remember the admin password for an old Windows 7 laptop that we wanted to backup before we had it wiped/recycled, and this video got us in! Thanks!
GREAT, LIFE SAVER, I suggest you mention that if the user name is more than one word you will have to enclose the user name with quotes for example: SET USER "First User" * I had to figure that out. From an "Old Computer Guy".
that's a great idea! I tried to be as thorough as possible, but I always miss something :) I will see if I can add an annotation to the video to pass along this information. Thanks for the idea!
Precise and direct video for the lost pass for Win7. Only note I would add, on my 2 laptops anyhow, is that after closing the notepad window and hitting "don't send" button, instead of having the option to click "finish" button, it just powered down/shutdown my laptops. I just restarted them, hit the "shift key" 5x to open command prompt and continued your instructions from there. Both laptops now have new passwords. Great job on your video.
I loaned out my spare desktop PC and when it was returned I had forgotten my password. Your video was step by step, clear and concise. I was successful and I'm saving this to a flash drive just in case . . .
Thank you for this video it has been a life saver today. so i just took over a new job at work yesterday and changed all the passwords on the laptop without any helpful hints. Came in this morning and forget my password. after faffing about trying to use Windows 7 Password Refixer. I stumbled on your video and followed you instruction and at 13:57 BST ( started at 0745) I am! Thank you for keeping it simple so that people with only 3 brain cells like me can do this... much appreciated.
this hasn't worked went through everything then when rebooting went to the dual sign in but when pressed the shirt key 5 times nothing happened went back to the old screen wouldn't let me go any further back to having forgot password
Watch video from beginning again you need to reset your PC and when it begins booting up again, hit power so it turns off. Reload and the option you need will be there.
so once you change the files that you have renamed do you need to change it back or can you leave it as it is? meaning if you forget your password again all you will need to do is press Shift 5 times and pop up cmd or would you need to do the whole process everytime if you forget or lose your password again
Interesting! I'd never had to break in to the same computer twice. You don't have to change the file names back. I believe that if you leave the files, all you would need to do is press shift 5 times and change the password. I don't believe you would need to do the whole process again.
aha ok thanks that's is what I figured you would not have to redo the whole process but just making sure say what if you had another account on the computer that does not have a password you could then access cmd that way and it would work I would think. and another thing is I have heard of a way you can set your phone or email to recover the password ok 1 more question about about just viewing the password instead of changing it? I believe this is achievable no?
Hi I hadn't used my laptop for years and had forgotten my password. Your tutorial worked flawlessly it's clear and easy. Everything works perfectly. Thanks Serge

Holy shitt this was really easy!! The first time i was on the screen which was repairing windows i did not get the windows which allow u to a note. But u have to try it one more time and it will allow this time. Thanks for this tutorial. Very helpfull
It's also a good idea to make copies of setup and cmd and paste them in a different directory other than system32. The process in the video worked only once. When I tried to change the pword for a different account, every time I typed in "net user user name *" I would get a syntax error message listing the options for the command. I finally had to do the repair option system restore to get things back to normal
I want to thank you so much for making this very helpful video. My computer has been collecting dust for the past year. I couldn't figure out how to reset my forgotten password. It was so easy with the step by step instructions you gave. Even for a computer illiterate like myself. Thank you again.
I am having the same issue. I’ve gone through the repair process multiple times now but it gets to the ‘Windows cannot repair the computer automatically’ box but the 2nd one with the link never comes up. Did you ever resolve this?

Thanks to bro again, i feel so lucky to see this video, great
You are awesome, I've spent hours trying to get past typing in a password since I forgot mine. I followed your step-by-step instructions and it worked I finally broke through, thank you so much
just a side note this could be because you are using windows 10 and not 7? I have no way of knowing this for sure but sometimes we all overlook really small details lol

Can I ask 2 questions of non technical description..... 1. The 5 shift button entries - will this entry ensure cmd exe is activated. Most importantly- if the laptop had or has a reserved drive or encrypted files heretofore is it possible to determine if in eliminating the password successfully the hard drive files and folder access would be prevented? Instructions well presented and very clear Thanks in advance E
For everyone looking for SethC... When you are in your system32 folder make sure your file of type says ALL FILES at the bottom...then you will see SethC is in the applications...not the folders. Then you should also be able to find CMD as well.
This was a really concise and helpful video. I hadn't used my laptop for years and had forgotten my password. I really appreciate the clarity and precision of this video.
I watched several other instruction videos on this specific subject and, hands-down, this one is the most clear and concise of them all. Your instructions were easy to follow and I was up and running again the first time through. Kudos to you. I'm now a subscriber.
Wow !!! Thank you so much bro, may God bless your work, it really worked for me after trying so many tutorials and they all failed. I appreciate a lot bro, at least i can login to my 3year dead laptop.
This was very helpful for a 83-year-old geek wannabe who was trying to get into a friend's Windows 7 computer when she had forgotten her password. The only thing that would make it even more helpful would be a script that could be printed out as short-term memory is an issue for me.
I love you...my old laptop was off for years but i had to save data from it...some letters didnt work anymore, i used usb keyboard and did it)))thaaaanks a lot

I watched several other instruction videos on this specific subject and, hands-down, this one is the most clear and concise of them all. Your instructions were easy to follow and I was up and running again the first time through. Kudos to you. I'm now a subscriber.

This was very helpful for a 83-year-old geek wannabe who was trying to get into a friend's Windows 7 computer when she had forgotten her password. The only thing that would make it even more helpful would be a script that could be printed out as short-term memory is an issue for me.
