Larry, I know ive mentioned it before in your videos but after my mom, you inspire me more than than anyone in the world. It doesnt matter what you do, you give more than everything you got to acheive whatever goal it is you want to reach. Its not just one thing, body building, power lifting, world records, arm wrestling, youtube,.......etc.... if there is someone to look up to that tells you by his actions that you can do anything you set your mind to do its you. Thank you so much.

@MdoubleHB.x I do wish steroids were banned from bodybuilding. But they are legal to use in most categories so in order to compete st all you have to use them. But I would much rather see them completely banned. I want to see someone that has worked their butt off and present a completely natural body to be judged. I know that you still have to work super hard to get the results when you're on steroids . You just don't take them and magically get amazing muscle tone and mass. They still have to work very hard at it but it's not natural. And i dont care that pros and those in the sport tell you that if used properly they are safe. Theyre not. There are long term effects and short term effects still with use of them. It will probably never happen sadly and so we will still be reading and seeing in the news more and more victims that suffer the consequences of steroid use. It's very sad to me. My best f4iend growing up started lifting g weights in 7th grade. He won Mr teen usa I think his senior year in high school. He was on the path to become a pro. Just amazing genetics but after that win he realized in order to compete at the next level he had to use. And he did. And his health problems started almost immediately. He spent a lot of time in the hospital over 5he next two years. I guess it's like any other drug it affects everyone differently. But that ended his career. He had a few years of recovery just from the damage that was done. Scary.

I was so swole that I couldn't put my shoes on. Lucky I worked in the Operating Room. An Anesthesiologist pulled me to aside and told me that I don't look well. He did some blood panel on me. He didn't give me any diurtics because I was young meaning my kidney will naturally help to get rid of the sodium. I layed off the extreme eating and drunk water. I hope Larry is okay. He had rhabdo myalysis a while back and so I hope his kidneys are okay. Cutting all that weight and using diuretics is hard on the kidneys. But maybe he's seeing a doctor and it's all good. Maybe the rabdo was caused by something else since it was so long ago.

This is something not often talked about that should be taken seriously. I went through a 25lb weight gain after my first show in 2 days, and it took me 3 weeks to flush all that water back out. I competed at 165lbs so this was a significant % of my bodyweight. In the meantime I had severe kidney pain, and all sorts of wonderful not comfortable things going on with my body. You literally feel like you have a waterbed under your skin.
If you're a natural athlete you'll also look like garbage, at least with Larry's size he can still have some semblance of shape. Wreaks havoc on your mind going from the best you ever looked to a bag of water in a day, especially when you no longer have an immanent competition to work towards. Post contest blues are not to be taken lightly, and the post contest binge is a big contributor.
Last show I did I had a cheat meal that night, ate at maintenance for about a month, then had a dedicated night of pizza and whatever and by then I was balanced out accepted a couple lbs of fat gain and felt perfectly fine.

The more muscles you have, the more potential for glycogen water retention you have. Also, people tends to forget that in food, after proteins, carbs and fats, the rest of the weight is all water. The more you'll eat after the show the more ''weight'' you can put on fast, specially at his size.

Just a word of caution from someone in medicine. Refeeding syndrome is a real and fatal thing. Its refeeding and rehydrating too quickly after a period of under nutrition. People develop low phosphate levels and extreme electrolyte shifts. This can cause swelling in the brain and seizures among many other things. Edema this severe in the lower extremities in particular is a sign of refeeding syndrome…the edema itself is from increase in carbohydrate consumption causing a spike in insulin causing your kidneys to retain salt and water…this could be a sign of extremely low or high sodium but both put you at risk of severe neurologic morbidity and mortality. I don’t really know how to get this message to you in particular but you should go to a doctor and at least have your electrolyte and kidney levels drawn and an ekg of your heart. Who knows maybe this helps other bodybuilders or fighters. You can hydrate relatively quickly (still a good idea to get a BMP though to watch lytes) but please refeed slowly…there is a formula for refeeding and a lay person could roughly follow this protocol. After all you are in starvation for a show and it should be medically treated as such.

*I understand weight gain reeeeeeally well! lol* The water that is in stored fat can be absolutely ridiculous. I've been starved down to 170 lbs for several months now, but there are some things I eat that the weight of the food alone makes the weight gain ridiculous and nonsensical. *It doesn't seem possible.*
*The flipside is, a few hours of labor in 80+ degree weather outside, and I have literally consumed 10,000 calories a day everyday only to wake up 180lbs everyday that summer.* When I say 10K, I mean a *DAILY gallon of ice cream! lol* So, a mix of healthy and junk food still did not matter. *I've also gained 8 lbs overnight and I'm only a true 5'11.*
