With the passing of each decade of my life this man’s talent shines brighter and I️ appreciate more the subtleties in his playing, and the purity of his choices, whether calculated or intuited. His playing is as good as you get.

More sound music from a sane mind played by possibly the best interpreter. We who love and play this music can take note that Richter never plays any of it as if he's off to the races before anyone has a chance to hear the often quite witty conversations going on inside the music. Wonderful!

Wunderschöne Aufführung dieser fein komponierten Klaviersonate im lebhaften Tempo mit gut artikuliertem Anschlag und perfekt kontrollierter Dynamik. Echt unvergleichlicher Virtuoso!

Superb in every respect. The outer movements are brimming with character, and the slow movement is a beautiful oasis of calm. Incidentally what a lovely pure treble his Yamaha has.

Haydn doesn't impress Richter like Mozart or Beethoven . He feels himself free ;.. and the result : beauty , absolute beauty ...

it's interesting to see how age changes the interpretation of a work: I heard this beautifully sonata played by two pianists: Shunta Morimoto ( ruclips.net/video/yoFGOB7iZe0/видео.html&ab ) and Richter, here. Shunta is Haydn at 16, playful, lively, sensitive and peacefull in the second movement. Richter is Haydn at 60, more composed, thoughtful, deep, a little romantic in the second movement (but I find his third movement too heavy). Very interesting experience!
