Franz Joseph Haydn
Piano Sonata No 24 in D major, Hob XVI-24
Sviatoslav Richter, piano
00:00 Allegro (1st Mvt)
07:52 Adagio (2nd Mvt)
11:32 Presto (3rd Mvt)
For personal reference
With the passing of each decade of my life this man’s talent shines brighter and I️ appreciate more the subtleties in his playing, and the purity of his choices, whether calculated or intuited. His playing is as good as you get.
More sound music from a sane mind played by possibly the best interpreter. We who love and play this music can take note that Richter never plays any of it as if he's off to the races before anyone has a chance to hear the often quite witty conversations going on inside the music. Wonderful!
stunningly pure and beautiful. Thank you.
A pristine and spiritual beauty.
Wunderschöne Aufführung dieser fein komponierten Klaviersonate im lebhaften Tempo mit gut artikuliertem Anschlag und perfekt kontrollierter Dynamik. Echt unvergleichlicher Virtuoso!
Pure and also splendid. I have never realized that haydn sonatas are so beautiful.
This is the most beautiful recording ever made of this Sonata. It is simply beyond belief...
This second movement is so beautiful and poetic.
And played delicately the way it must be !
Superb in every respect. The outer movements are brimming with character, and the slow movement is a beautiful oasis of calm. Incidentally what a lovely pure treble his Yamaha has.
We've to be grateful to this giant of keyboard for giving to us this underrated Haydn
I love the Haydn sonatas. I haven't heard it played better than this
Haydn doesn't impress Richter like Mozart or Beethoven . He feels himself free ;.. and the result : beauty , absolute beauty ...
Fritz_Maisenbacher Richter hat sich vielmals geauessert dass er gar nicht gerne Mozart spielen woll
@@janbonsema5888 And yet he DID play Mozart--and beautifully.
Cz. I - 0:00
Cz II - 7:52
Cz III - 11:32
A very acute sense of the contrasts ... an awesome rendering.
Andante straordinario ! Correggo ...è tutto bellissimo!!!
Heavenly beauty and purity ~ Unbelievably gorgeous!!
He plays the left hand much more staccato than I do - I like it! I ought to try that.
Richter was really an enigma.

sorry, why?
Just another homosexual men kept in a cage by 20th century's society
@@fhumble1132 Wasn't that only rumoured though, has it even been confirmed?
Heavenly...absolutely devine! He and Dame Myra Hess shred SO much in common!!
Excelente pieza musical y magnifico Richter
I love this music
Didnt know I would enjoy this sonata so much, thanks Richter and thanks uploader :-P
Love the contrast of a Russian with such gravitas playing this light shimmering gem of a piece!
This is a nice one.
What's up with the super quiet pre-echo right before he plays? You can hear it at 0:17
Esta obra, para el; fue vital el tenerla preparada, perfectamente bien. Muy importante.
He played so well:)
liked it

Superbe ! Je ne résiste cependant pas à vous conseiller une version plus... "historiquement informée" ! ;-)

merci pour cette version.Au surplus l'acoustique est somptueuse. J'aime aussi l'humour de vos guillemets....
Exactly.
it's interesting to see how age changes the interpretation of a work: I heard this beautifully sonata played by two pianists: Shunta Morimoto ( ruclips.net/video/yoFGOB7iZe0/видео.html&ab ) and Richter, here. Shunta is Haydn at 16, playful, lively, sensitive and peacefull in the second movement. Richter is Haydn at 60, more composed, thoughtful, deep, a little romantic in the second movement (but I find his third movement too heavy). Very interesting experience!
Didnt know I would enjoy this sonata so much, thanks Richter and thanks uploader :-P
