I remember when the first Y. rostratas started becoming available to nurseries in the mid 80s. I believe it was Adam's Ranch near Marathon Tx. It was the first big ticket plant I ever purchased - I planted it in my parent's Virginia yard. My parents have been gone for years, and just 6 months ago, a hurricane took down the now 20'+ four headed beauty

    Nice video.
I planted a Yucca filifera some years ago but it has been 5 inches tall (without leaves) all this time 😢 tried different methods to make it grow but no luck so far.
So now I cut a larger trunk from another Yucca, I think is also a filifera and I hope it develops the root system.
In the local Plant store, they sell a Yucca carnerosa or maybe it’s a faxoniana, it has small hairs between the leaves.
The purpose is landscaping and harvest the flowers. I really like to eat them with some eggs.

The yucca rigida is amazing, I bought one for €50 euro from Netherlands to Ireland , about maybe
40 inches tall, leaves are spikey, maybe keep away from small children but I love yuccas, even our climate is ok for them I hope..

When I put in my pool I would spend significant pesos for a some of those beautiful specimen quality Y. Rostratas or Fauxianas and a number of hardy agaves around the base.
I grow palms and bananas here in zone 7B North Carolina happy to find a nursery that does this. This is awesome I do wonder how one initiates an order?

I have a yucca rostrata now that is pre-trunked but still fairly small. It's just started getting really sunny out after weeks of being overcast so hopefully I can see it's new growth take off in the next 4 months. But right now all the healthy leaves are at a 45 - 50 degree angle and then they yellow and drop. Do you know why that is? I'd like it to have a full round head in the future but I'm wondering what type of stress it could have that makes it drop leaves earlier. Since it was shipped bare rooted, it could just be that it's partially in shock from the root damage and needs to use more energy to put out new roots until there's enough to support strong leaf growth. But I think it could have also been how little sunlight we've been having for the first month or so I've had it. Guess I'll find out in awhile, it does look quite healthy besides some brown tips.
